Chapter 1
" You know better than I do that we can't hide them forever. " " They know nothing Micheal. Not until they are of age will they understand. I promise " " I know you are a man of your word and will be holding onto it." " Micheal? " " Yes, my love? " " Promise me to protect them like you protect your own. " " I will princess. I will. " With that, the phone call ended. Hearing those words from his soothing voice calmed the panicked mother, knowing that her babies will be safe with Micheal guarding them. He was more than just a friend to her. He was a father figure. He assisted her in ways she could not repay even though all she could offer was a 'thank you' that she knew all too well isn't enough. A loud sign can be heard from behind the bedroom door separating the living room and a bedroom. She pinched her nose bridge thinking of her next move letting the phone slipped from her hand, landing on the carpet. She was a college girl studying the mysteries of the world until she became a mother overnight bearing a child. Years passed and the child, Joshua was granted with two brothers, Xavier and Luke, both a year apart. Not was there a day that passed was she not worried about her children. A cut sends her into a protective mode. An argument between the three had her worried. They are too young to understand the power they hold. Never was she saddened of her children's' fate. A day will come where she will leave and they are left to defend and protect each other no matter the circumstance. She knows deep down in her that these children of hers would do just well without her yet the fear consumed her, blinding her of happiness that's before her eyes. Running her delicate hands through her hair, the mother stood up abruptly, dragging her feet towards the closed bedroom door. She silently twisted the doorknob and pushed it open just enough for her figure to slipped in. As silent as she entered she twisted the doorknob again, closing the door behind her. She towered over three tiny figures huddled together. She took a blanket off the floor and placed it over her children. She wanted nothing than to protect them from the threat ahead but she knew she won't be able to. Kissing each forehead as tears slipped down her cheeks. She traced a line over the left palm of her eldest son, the protective brother. The way he would lead and defend his brothers from danger. She whispered a word at his ears hoping he could hear her even though she knew he was in a deep slumber. She looked over her youngest son, though he's only ten, he had the most responsibility in keeping his brothers in check, he always thinks the pros and cons before a decision is made, giving him the title of the mature son amongst the three. She took his left palm tracing a line before whispering a different word. Finally, she took the right palm of her second son, a troublemaker she must say. Always stirring up trouble, pissing both his brothers off. The free-spirit of the three. She leaned her forehead on his, whispering a word different from others yet it still held the same meaning. Words she had repeated even night without failing to remind the three the unbreakable bond formed cant be broken so easily. Trust, love and loyalty. Each importance to play its part. She burst into tears in quiet as she walked tirelessly whilst brushing her hands on their feet before she is back to her position before the phone call. Back in the living room packing all essential needs and an emergency bag. A war is coming and she isn't keen on losing her first battle.
