CHAPTER TWENTY-SIXMule Thanks to my extra intelligence, I’m able to track our van through all the twists and turns it takes. When we finally stop, I know that we’re about ten miles east of Meriwether. There are no towns out here, just large tracts of farmland. I’m pulled from the van and marched up a gravel path. I smell old wood and dust. Gusts of chill wind blow my clothes sideways. My hood is removed just as we walk through a door, and I gather a glance of our surroundings before we’re inside.
