Chapter 1
"Odetta Morvayne, daughter of Duke Alistairr Morvayne and mother of hmmmm---" The thought again made her eyes sting with unshed tears. Staring at the lake in front of her she couldn't even recognize the girl reflected in its waters. She had once been such a cheerful young girl. Full of life. Now she looked like a stranger to herself. The bustling of the leaves around her came with strong wind making her shiver a little. It was going to rain soon so she had to start going back to the castle. It was improper for a lady to wander alone this late at night. But it was the only time she had to escape her father's watchful eyes. Just as she was about to stand up she heard footsteps coming. She quickly picked up her sword putting it back in its sheath as sh his behind a tree. She had always come here to practice sword wielding and somehow the slashing of her sword through the air somehow made her forget everything. He looked like a foreigner as this was not how Valedorians dress or even looked. He's long hair packed in a ponytail with a long cloak. Someone could easily mistake him for a woman. Because of his petite nature but the beards along his jaws stood him out. She didn't know why but she found herself following him. As she trailed behind him she used a small knife to leave marks on the tall trees so she would not loose her way. The weather got more colder as she rubbed her palms over her skin already considering to abandon ing the chase and going back home. But just as she was about to he finally stopped looking around. Quickly she hid herself deeper within the tree's branch as she used her hand to cover her mouth to not make a sound. She waited for a while before finally shifting the branch that covered her face. " What was she even doing" He seemed to be talking to someone but she couldn't see his face properly from where she stood. He held a parchment. It carried the official seal of one of the Alpha's in the surrounding packs. They always had that wolf claw mark following their orders. It was a sign to identify the packs that had refused to bend to Valedoria' rule. " Attack the House of Morvayne" the man said silently though she could still hear him clearly. It sounded like a joke to her. A measly pack attack their clan? She didn't know whether to laugh at their stupidity or pity their foolishness. Many had tried. All had failed. Their clan was one of the strongest in the whole of Valedoria and to get inside when not a member of any house or without permission was nearly impossible. Turning around with the thought that they were just going to learn their l soon when they come. Walking back to the carriage she could see the coach man leaning lazily against it. He was just a normal commoner from the villages. She had personally hired him for occasions like this as she was very frequent in going to the lake. Reaching him he bowed his head at her. " My lady" Using a hand to open the door of the carriage for her as Odetta stepped in. The ride went on smoothly for some minutes but after some time rain started pouring from the sky. It started in small drizzles at first but as the ride went in it started pouring down heavily from the sky. Odetta shivered several times in the carriage. She wondered how the coach man was doing. But just as the thought crossed her mind the carriage shook heavily almost falling to its side. But before Odetta could recover from that low howls rumbled through the forest making the hairs on Odetta's back rise. It sounded too close. Far too close. Then the carriage completely lost its control, the horses jumping and galloping in terror It was as if the coach man was no longer----- " Ahhhh!" Came the shrill cry making Odetta squat to the carriage floor covering her head with her hands as if it was going to save her from the rogues that lurked outside. She could still hear ripping of flesh from the carriage man so it s ended it was not only one but many. "It was very rare for rogues to move in groups" thought Odetta Opening the small carriage window slightly, Odetta froze as she met the feral eyes of one of th beasts. It claws tore the wood as she pushed herself to the other side of the carriage. How did they even get to this part of the woods? It was too open for rogues to be. And this much at that. Had someone planned her death? The beast that continually tried to break through the carriage disappeared but once she heard the screams of the falling horses up front she knew why. The horses had run all the way towards Libra's hill. One of the highest hills in Valedoria. It was mostly used for sight-seeing by some foreigners. And for lovers to play around. But now it was going to be her death ground. She could still hear the rogues behind them. Closing her eyes she wrapped her hands of her legs ready to take the impact of the fall.
