Aiden’s POV
Cameron had been radio silent since I left him at the diner. He must have forgotten his phone and was too far to mind link me. I was thinking about texting Jamie, but knew she was probably still working her shift. I sighed, thinking about her green eyes, two emeralds that I kept getting lost in throughout the night.
I could not wait to bring my Luna home after all these years. I’m 26, which meant that I had 8 years of disappointment regarding my mate. But here she was, in all her glory. Being human, the mate bond would not affect her the same way. She might feel a general pull towards me, which seemed likely considering she gave me her phone number. Maybe she does that often, who knows. But I couldn’t wait to get to know my Luna more.
As I continued to think about her, desire tightened my heart, making it hard to breathe. My c**k twitched as I pictured her brown hair flowing in soft curls down her back. As she walked away from me, her ass seemed to sway back and forth. My arousal continued to increase as I continued to think about my beautiful fated mate.
I decided to head to the shower, where I could continue my fantasy. Hopefully soon, this would become my reality. Once the water was warm, I entered the shower and soaped myself up. The soap lathered on my d**k, which was already very hard from picturing Jamie.
I thought about her breasts, which were partially exposed under her uniform. I imagined her caramel and vanilla scent, which permeated throughout the diner. I pictured her luscious lips, which I desired to kiss. I continued to stroke myself, desire building in my body. I thought about leaving a trail of kisses from her breast to her delicate neck, which would soon contain my mark. At that thought, the thought of marking my Luna and fated mate, I became undone. The pulses containing my seed were soon washed away by the water.
Once I was clean again, I turned the water off and dried my body. Once I was dressed in comfortable clothes, I got comfortable on my bed and considered how I would get Jamie to fall in love with me. My human mate. I knew I’d have to start with a date. I can’t just walk up to her and tell her that Moon Goddess created us to be together. She would look at me like I was psycho.
I considered texting her tomorrow. It would be a Thursday. Jamie was too special to ask out via text. I decided that Cameron and I would head back to the diner tomorrow and I’d ask her out in person.
Just then, I got a mind link from Cameron. Luna made it to her car safely. I’m glad I stayed. That trucker didn’t know the meaning of know.
I growled in response. I wanted to keep Jamie safe, but it would be very hard to do with her living separately from me. I glanced at the clock. It was already after 1 am by the time Cameron made it back to the territory. Thanks Cam. You have dinner plans tomorrow?
I could picture his confusion when he responded. No, why?
You do now. I’m going to ask Jamie to go out on a date with me. We’re going to pull out all the stops for my lovely human mate. She won’t understand the mate bond, so conventional dating it is. I cut the mind link and smiled at the thought of taking Jamie on a date.
Jamie POV
When I got home last night, I was so tired from the events of the day that I rinsed off in the shower and headed straight to bed. I’d have to catch my sleep now as I had the morning with Bella. I had promised Jillian that I would help her figure out a solution during the pregnancy after Jason left. Money is tight and we can’t afford daycare for Bella, so I watch her during the morning and Jillian takes over after school. It can be tough, but it works for us. Besides, Bella’s wellbeing is the most important thing to us.
She is looking more like her mom than her father. She has soft brown curls like me and Jillian, but she has Jillian’s amber eyes. My heart swells thinking of her. I curled up in bed, and fell fast asleep.
-----------------------------------------
My alarm went off early the next morning at seven thirty. Once I turned my alarm off, I pictured the events from the day before. Thinking of Aiden gave me butterflies in my stomach. I checked my phone, a bit disappointed that he hadn’t texted me. I did have his number now as he sent me a quick Hey while he was still at the diner, but he didn’t send anything else. I pursed my lips thinking about the events from yesterday because I was pretty sure he seemed to like me too.
I got out of bed and walked to the living area still dressed in my pjs. Jillian was already dressed for work and feeding Bella breakfast. Jillian made such a great mom and I was so proud watching her.
Jillian c****d her head as she was handing Bella a sippy cup of milk. “What’s got you in such a good mood this morning?”
I hadn’t realized that I was smiling still thinking about Aiden. “I met a guy last night.”
“Oh?” she asked, waiting in anticipation for me to elaborate.
“His name is Aiden and he was a customer at the diner last night. He, uhh, he helped me with a situation involving another customer.” She looked at me skeptically. I never talk about guys with her. I filled her in on the events of the day, monitoring her facial expressions. She had fear about the situation I was almost in with a mix of relief that Aiden was there to help me. It was comforting that he was there, I had to admit.
“And, are you going out with Aiden your knight in shining armor?” She asked with a smirk. I guess Aiden had a new nickname.
“I gave him my number, but no date yet,” I replied back with a shrug.
“Ok, well let me know if anything happens on that front!” She said cheerily, as she put on her jacket and shoes. She made sure she had everything for the day: Keys, phone, wallet, and work bag. She blew me and Bella a kiss on her way out.
“Have a great day!” I called after her. I looked at Bella, who was eating a bowl of oatmeal with berries. “Just you and me today, kid.”
The day was relatively uneventful. Unfortunately, I still hadn’t heard from Aiden, though I did save his number and gave him the tag of “Grey Eyes.” I smiled thinking about his handsome features. His brown hair which was brushed back, his high cheek bones, and those stunning grey eyes.
In the afternoon, I started to get ready for work. Jillian came home at 3:45, leaving me just enough time to grab the car and head to work for 4. Luckily, I didn’t live too far from the diner, which was part of the reason I’d stayed here. I decided to test Devin’s theory regarding tips and had my shirt buttoned a bit more conservatively today to compare tips.
I headed into work at exactly 4 o’clock. I scanned the diner upon entry, taking in the customers. I felt disappointed at first that I didn’t see Aiden. That is, until I smelled his cologne. The rainstorm and raspberries smell. I scanned again, and in the same corner booth, he turned around and made eye contact with me, his grey eyes peering into my soul.
I started to walk towards them, my legs leading me before I knew where I was going. Aiden never broke eye contact. When I arrived to their table, I said the first thing I could think of. “Is someone helping you yet?” I internally groaned at my lame start to the conversation. Aiden’s friend was there with him too, but I couldn’t break my focus from Aiden. A whisper in the back of my mind said Mate. What the hell.
Aiden gave me a grin and explained, “Someone else tried to help me, but I was waiting for you.”
I smiled as my heart fluttered. So he did care! He continued, “I wanted to know if you would give me the honor of letting me take you on a date tomorrow night.”
