Jamie’s POV
I had a good feeling hanging up with Jillian. Honestly, that conversation went better than I had expected. To be frank, I wasn’t sure how she was going to react to the situation, but we seemed to leave it that she would take it at her pace and keep a relatively open mind, so that is something at least.
I hung up and went to go find Aiden. He had given me some privacy for my conversation, so I went to go check for him in his office.
His door was open, which was convenient, so I raised my hand to knock, but he noticed me before I even had a chance for my hand to make contact with the door.
Aiden welcomed me in with a smile. “Hey Jamie, how did your conversation go?” He was straight to the point.
“Better than I thought. Jamie doesn’t want to move here yet. She wants it to be her choice,” I explained.
“Who does that sound like?” he asked, grinning at me. I glared at him for a moment, a small smile on my lips too. Jillian and I were alike in that respect.
“Anyways,” I emphasized, so he knew to change the subject, “I’m on babysitting duty on Monday. Jillian has Open House at school, so she’s working late.”
“That sounds doable. Are you going to have Bella at the pack daycare? Remember, you are going to be working the day shift now,” he said. This was definitely going to be a big change for me.
“Yeah, I’ll probably put her in the daycare during the day. I’ll text Jillian and make sure she’s okay with it. She didn’t seem to totally hate the idea,” I explained, paraphrasing our conversation.
“Uhh, Jamie, I do have to warn you of one thing,” he said, a bit apprehensively.
“Yeah?” I asked. I was already agreeing to stay with a pack of werewolves, I’m not really sure what else he could want to warn me about.
“The Luna position comes with a great deal of respect. More than likely, the pack members will call you Luna rather than by your first name,” he explained. Uhh, ok, I guess I could adjust to that. I nodded my head in affirmation. Aiden continued, “And I want to put together a bit of a gathering so the pack can get to know you and announce you as my Luna.” My eyes opened wide. Now that I wasn’t expecting. This was nerve wracking.
“What do I wear? It’s like a first date with me and like 800 people,” I asked, smiling nervously.
“I’m going to have Adrienne help you pick out something,” Aiden said.
“Adrienne?” I asked. I had no clue who that was.
“My sister. She’s 17 and knows a lot of the expectations for this type of situation,” he explained. I nodded. I remembered he had a sister, but he never gave me a name. I was grateful that it was his sister and not his mom he recommended.
“So what exactly is this Luna position going to entail,” I asked, trying to understand the full scope of the responsibilities.
“It’s hard to describe because there’s a lot of different things. You would be my plus one to different pack events, typically, but also help with paperwork, organizing parties, and helping to support the pack. You’d work with Miss Sidney, for example, picking out the weekly menus and if a new member needs housing, you would assign that too,” he explained. I nodded. This was a lot to take in, but I felt somewhat confident that I could do it. “And if you want Adrienne or someone else to help you, that’s fine too. I told you we could get you an assistant if you wanted.” That sounded good.
“Where am I going to be staying?” I asked.
Aiden took a deep breathe before answering. “Typically, the Luna, since she is mated to the Alpha, would stay in the Alpha suite. We aren’t there quite yet, so it’s wherever you’re comfortable with for now. If you want to stay in a cottage, that’s fine. If you want to stay in the pack house that’s also fine. I would love you close to me, but I don’t want to push you too far,” he clarified.
“I want to be close to you too, but if Jillian decides to move in… Umm, do you think I could get a cottage and also a room here? You know, in case it’s late to go back?” I asked, not wanting to seem overly demanding.
Aiden chuckled at me, but I didn’t know what for, until he said, “The Alpha wing has a whole bunch of rooms. You know, for pups. We don’t need them yet, so they’re still empty. You can definitely have a room close to me too.” I blushed at the idea of kids. Of course the pack house is built for his family.
“I think I’d like that. I can stay in the pack house because I don’t want to be in the cottage alone, but I think Jillian will eventually open up the idea to moving here and when she does, I don’t want her to be alone,” I said, defending my idea.
“That sounds like a good compromise and some good Luna decision making there,” Aiden replied with a smirk.
“So when’s this party?” I asked, changing the topic a little.
“Tomorrow evening. We can do a barbeque outside and I’ll introduce you. This won’t be as formal as the Luna ceremony where you’d take the oath. By the way, did you want me to send for your things that you have at your sister’s place? Of course you can also get new items to match your new position.”
“But I don’t…” I started to say, but Aiden shook his head.
“My treat. How about this, tomorrow Adrienne and you can have a spa day to prepare for the evening and go shopping to pick out some new outfits, and one for the pack barbeque.”
This was going to be fun.
