Chapter 20

1048 Words
Jamie’s POV Aiden led me down the hall to my room in the packhouse. He wanted me right next to his room, which I appreciated. I rested a bit in my room while Aiden made some calls to get my items from my apartment with Jillian. I needed to give her the heads up, so I decided to send her a text. Jamie: Hey Jillian, I wanted to let you know that Aiden is going to have some people stop by to pick up the stuff from my room Jillian: Ok, so what about the things in the living room and kitchen? Jamie: Going to leave it there for now. I shouldn’t need it. Jillian: Ok, sounds good Jamie: Is it ok if I drop Bella off at the daycare on Monday? You can meet the workers first. Jillian: I guess so. It makes sense if your job is now a day shift rather than second shift like you had before. I definitely want to meet them first. Jamie: Make sure you pack up all of the things she’s going to need. A pack of pull ups, snacks, lunch, sheets for nap, you know. Jillian: Gotcha, I will prep a bag for Monday. Jamie: Actually, if you want to come tomorrow, they’re doing a barbeque to welcome me. Did you want to come? Jillian: I don’t think I’m ready for all of that quite yet… Jamie: Ok, no worries. I told you what you want to do can be at your pace. Aiden is setting me up with a cottage to stay in for us Jillian: Good to know The conversation fizzled a bit, so I put my phone down for now thinking about tomorrow. Before I knew it, I fell asleep. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I heard a knock, waking me from my nap. I must have still been tired from the events from the last day. I opened my eyes to a mostly dark room and stumbled towards the door. Aiden was on the other side, a lady behind him holding two plates under metal domes. Aiden spoke up, “I thought you’d like some dinner. I didn’t know if you’d be ready for a full introduction, so I thought you’d like to do dinner just the two of us?” He raised his hand, which had sets of silverware in napkins. I smiled at his thoughtful gesture. He’s right. I was hungry, and since I literally just rolled out of bed, a private dinner is probably a better choice. I nodded my head in confirmation and opened the door further to let him come in. Aiden switched on the light and the lady behind him carrying the two plates went to the small table in the corner of the room next to two small chairs. I was so tired earlier, I hadn’t taken the time to look around the room and take in my surroundings. The lady removed the lids to each of the plates, as she bowed slightly. “Alpha, Luna, please enjoy dinner.” And with that, she slowly backed out of the room. I was glad that Aiden warned me that people would likely call me Luna. However, it was still awkward when it actually happened. My eyes opened wider and he chuckled at my reaction. We made small talk over dinner and he told me that some of his staff would be bringing over my belongings tomorrow while I was at the spa. I read between the lines that when Aiden said staff, he was probably referring to pack members. I let him know that I had already warned Jillian, but I was going to be leaving out the details that it would probably be a bunch of werewolves. After dinner, Aiden offered to take me for a walk outside. I figured some fresh air would be nice, so I grabbed a sweater, and we left my room hand in hand. As we passed different people, they initially stared at us, but then bowed their heads at Aiden as we walked by.  Aiden continued to hold my hand as we walked under the rising moon. I had a thought and I was hoping Aiden would be able to help me clear up. Apprehensively, I asked, “If I have a wolf in my head, will I be able to transform into a wolf like you can?” He looked thoughtful for a moment before answering, “I’m not sure. If you’re a hybrid, it depends on which genes you inherited. It’s possible, but we’ll know more once we talk to the witch. My dad reached out to some contacts who had a recommended witch. She should be coming by next week.” I nodded. “Why are witches so hard to come by?” I asked. I mean, it seemed werewolves were pretty common, so I had thought witches would be too. “Witches and werewolves are known enemies. Typically, the witches would only help a wolf if they owed us a favor or they were receiving some sort of payment. Plus, there are very few witches that would be trusted in the werewolf world. Witches give off the same attributes as politicians or lawyers,” he said, making me laugh out loud. At that, Aiden stopped walking and turned to me. “Your laugh is beautiful,” he said, before kissing me gently on my lips. My heart fluttered at his words before he even made contact. My lips had a rush of the tingling sensation like every touch from him was pure electricity. He pulled away from me, resting his forehead on mine. Aiden’s breath was ragged with desire, my cheeks getting flushed when I realized the desire was for me. My pulse raced as he looked into my eyes. The light of the moon shined down on us, illuminating his features. He looked so handsome under the light. As if trying to hold on to whatever traces of self control he had, Aiden whispered to me, “We should head back to the packhouse. You have a busy day tomorrow.” And with that, we slowly turned around, to return to the packhouse, hand in hand. Even a simple hand holding sent shocks up by body and seemingly through my soul.
