“If you hook up with Sara, tell her to hook me up with Kara.” Bentley told Pete as they ogled over Pete’s phone. Pete’s new conquest had a twin sister and his wingman wanted in on the action.
“Don’t worry man, I got you.” Pete told him, scrolling through the pictures.
I rolled my eyes as I stared at my own phone. I was leaning back in my chair with my legs across another empty seat, doing some online shopping as I munched on some fries. Mondays sucked and this one was particularly suckey.
“I can’t believe my dad is making me do training this Saturday morning. He knows I hate getting up early.” Mar complained. Her dad was a strict Beta and made her do training every now and again. My dad always threatened that he would make me. I always got out of it.
“I can help you train. I got plenty of moves I can show you.” Nicky winked at her. Yea, Nicky. We know you’re already showing her moves.
“Wait, wait! Scroll back up to that one! Which one is that?” Bentley asked.
“I don’t know. I think Sara. Or maybe that’s Kara?” Pete said. “Does it matter? They’re both hot.”
Ugh. I went back to focusing on my shopping, when I felt someone approach me from my right.
“Hey.” They said. I didn’t recognize the voice so I decided to ignore them.
“I’m busy, thanks.” I said. I didn’t look up and continued to stare at my phone and snack on fries.
The person knelt beside me and touched my leg. Immediately I felt tingling. It made me jump a little. I looked at him and there was my mystery mate. I gaped at him, my mouth open wide, my eyes even wider.
He smiled at me, his beautiful dark eyes looking so deep into mine. It felt like he was peering into my soul.
“Hi, I noticed you over here. You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. I had to come introduce myself. I’m Derek.” He held his hand out.
I smiled back, feeling my cheeks radiate heat. I could see him smile wider at my blushing. I reached out and grabbed his hand softly, feeling the electricity between us. “I’m Alexandria. You can call me Xan. Or Xannie. Or whatever you like, you know?”
Oh Goddess, Xan. Get it together. Man up.
“That’s a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.” He took my hand and kissed my knuckles. I smiled, looking down. My blushing was out of control.
“She’s not interested, Derek. Beat it.” Pete said from behind me.
Neither one of us paid him any mind. It felt like the world only consisted of us two.
“I hope you remember me. I remember you.” Derek said, smiling. He reached up and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. I could feel little tingles flicker across my ear as his finger glided across it.
“Yea, I do.” I smiled back seductively. Or I hope it was seductively. Ugh, I probably looked constipated.
Xannie, how are you an Alpha but such a disaster?
“Ok, rogue. Time to pack it up.” Bentley got up and stood in front of me.
Rogue? He’s a rogue?
Oh, s**t.
Derek looked at Bentley, eyes flicking black and then back to brown. Another guy walked to his side and tapped his arm. Derek turned and looked at him, then looked back to me. I recognized the other guy as the one from the party as well, his cute little blush showing up when he smiled at me once again.
Derek and his friend began to walk away towards the cafeteria doors.
I stared at Derek, resisting the urge to run after him. I wanted to feel his arms around me again and taste his tongue again. I had been dreaming of him almost every night since Friday.
Bentley turned and smiled at me. He leaned over, tickling my chin and walked back to sit next to Pete to keep stalking the twins. Pete glared at Derek and his friend.
Before Derek walked out, he turned and looked at me again, he smiled at me and waved. My belly fluttered and I smiled back. His friend turned and looked at me smiling, shook his head and they walked out.
“What was that about?” Mar asked, poking my arm.
“I don’t know.” I said, looking back to my phone. I knew for the rest of the day I would only think of him. At least now I knew his name.
“If I didn’t know any better, I would say Xannie found her M word!” Nicky said.
“Nick, we agreed we don’t talk about the M word at the lunch table. Appetites, remember?” Bentley said. He wasn't even eating. He was so wrapped up in dreaming about twin v****a, he hadn't touched his food.
“Bentley, you talk about the grossest s**t nonstop. Just the other day you were talking about prostates being the male g-spot. At our lunch table.” Mar complained. She had a good point.
“I read about it!” He defended himself.
“Since when do you ‘read’?” Pete laughed.
“I was reading about g-spots. Trying to study up for me and Xannie bo Bannies wedding night.” I looked over at Bentley and he wiggled his eyebrows at me. He was trying to make me join the conversation. He hated when I was too quiet.
“Bent, I’m not the marrying type.” I told him.
“You’re not human, Xan. You’ll only have to be mated and marked.” Pete reassured me.
“Both of which I am highly capable of.” Bentley said.
“Bent! Jesus.” I roll my eyes, he winks one of his at me.
“When did we get a new guy?” Nicky all of a sudden realizes that Derek is a new student.
“Yea, Yea, wait. Who was that? And the one with him looked new too.” Mar asked.
“More rogues. f*****g school is getting filled with them.” Pete muttered. He hated rogues. In fact just about every pack wolf hated rogues. We were born hating rogues. They were animalistic and uncivilized.
And my mate is one. I let out a small groan and put my head in my hands.
“Whats wrong Xannie?” Pete asked.
“Nothing.” I mumbled. I was not about to tell any of them about my mate. They will probably kill him before I even get a chance to talk to him again.
“Pete, Nick, look!” Bentley nodded to someone across the cafeteria. Our entire table turned to look for who he was talking about. I couldn’t tell who he was referring to. It must be something between them. I turn back and Bentley is standing with a smile, Pete standing next to him.
“HEY MIKE! YOUR SISTER LOOKED GOOD BENT OVER MY HOOD LAST NIGHT! TELL HER I SAID WE SHOULD DO IT AGAIN SOME TIME!” Bentley yelled.
“Oh my Goddess, Bentley. You are so toxic.” Mar put her hand over her face, as did I. How embarrassing.
“NOT AS GOOD AS YOUR MOM!” Came from across the cafeteria.
“Oh shit.” I groaned. And the boys took off. A mix of growls, yelling, punches, and trays being thrown were heard all over the room.
I turned and Bentley and Pete were fighting a couple of rival pack members. Nicky was on the floor punching someone I didn’t recognize.
Real mature.
I hate high school.
Mar looks over at me, her head resting on her hands. “Want to meditate with me?”
“We should do something this weekend.” I say moping.
She smiles. “Its Monday, baby girl.”
“I know. Its tragic.” 2 guys fall next to the chair that my legs were in. “Watch it, dickheads!” I yell at them.
The principal burst in the cafeteria doors yelling incoherently. Mar and I are just watching the show at this point. He’s trying to get everyone’s attention, but there’s too much werewolf testosterone in this room right now.
“Why does he even try? He needs like a megaphone or something.” Mar smiled.
Finally the fighting began to die down.
Bentley, Pete and Nicky came back to the table. Bentley’s hair was a mess, he had a bloody nose but he was laughing. Pete was checking his knuckles that were cut up. Nicky was fixing his hair and wiping the blood off his lips.
“Feel better now?” I asked Bentley. I noticed the principal, Mr. Ellsman, was making his way to our table.
Wonderful.
“Mr. Davis! Is this your doing? And you Mr. Sanders and Mr. Rogers?” Mr. Ellsman was ready to lose his mind.
“Mr. Ellsman, I would never do such a thing!” Bentley said, sarcastically astonished.
“I would never expect such behavior from you Mr. Sanders, being from such a proud Gamma family.” He said looking at Pete. Pete just looked at him annoyed.
The bell rings. “Get to class all of you!” Mr. Ellsman says, knowing he will not win. We all get up and head out. I reach out to the table and grab some napkins and my bottle of water. When we get to the hallway I pull everyone to the side. I pour water on some napkins and hand some to Mar to help me clean the boys up. Pete takes some to work on his knuckles. I clean up Bentley’s nose. He loves the attention. He sits on the floor and I kneel over him, wiping the now smeared blood. He holds onto my waist.
“One day you will be cleaning me up when I come home from war, Xannie.” He smiles.
“Bentley, you are not my mate.” I laugh.
“Ugh, that word again. You’re killing me.” He puts his hand over his heart.
I roll my eyes. “I’m not one of your toys, Bent. I am completely immune to your charm.”
“One day I will get you.” He smiles and runs his hand down my leg, tickling my skin. I knee his thigh.
Pete punches him. “Keep it in your pants, Davis.” I laugh and shake my head.
I walk with Pete to 6th period (geometry) and I’m surprised to see Derek across the room. Instantly my eyes widen and my heart races. I notice his eyes are drawn to mine too. His gorgeous smile appears.
“Ah s**t, rogue boy is here.” Pete mumbles.
I barely hear him. My heart is too loud.
“Xan!” Pete shakes my arm.
A loud growl comes from across the room. Pete's head snaps up to Derek, I look at Pete and then at Derek.
“The f**k you growling at?” Pete says.
I notice Derek's friend is there.
“Nothing, guy. Just a misunderstanding.” The friend says. Then he looks over to me. His face softens. I smile at him.
“Pete.” I say softly, looking at him. Pete looks at me, relaxing a little. The entire room is awkwardly silent. Everyone knows to not f**k with Pete.
Pete then leans back in his chair, staring at Derek. He looks over at me. “What’s this guy to you, Xan?”
I look at Pete and swallow hard. I shake my head and shrug. “A crush maybe?” Pete looks into my eyes. He always knows when I’m lying but he doesn’t call me out this time. He just stares into my eyes and nods. He looks back at Derek and puts his arm around my chair.
Derek twitches a little and snarls.
The teacher walks in and begins talking about the lesson, passing out a stack of papers. Pete gives me another look and then stares back at Derek for the rest of class. Derek’s eyes never leave me and I feel like I’m going to vomit for the rest of class.
When the bell rings, I walk as quickly as possible to get the hell away from there. My last class is a study period. Its boring as hell, I usually fall asleep because none of my friends are in that class with me. It will be nice to just have an entire class of no drama.
As soon as I get to the class, I sit in my seat, stretch out and take my hair out of its messy bun. I let my long waist length blond waves fall down over the side of my desk and lay my head in my arms. Its gonna be a nice relaxing nap.
As I’m laying there, listening to all the murmurs of the fellow students and the noises from the hallway, I feel a light tap on my shoulder.
“No!” I say sternly. I’m not helping anyone with anything. And I’m not dealing with my teachers s**t. Plus Aaron is in this class. If he gives me s**t, I’ll rip his face off. I smile to myself at the mental image of ripping Aaron’s face off and cozy back into my arms.
The person runs their finger across my arm and I feel tingling. My eyes shoot open. I slowly sit up. Next to me is that heavenly face. My heart begins to race so fast that it hurts. I gasp a little.
“Hi again.” He smiles.
Ok, don’t mess it up again this time, Xan. You’re hot, guys want you, you’re the alpha’s daughter. You can do this!
“Heygan.” I respond.
‘What? Heygan? What the f**k is that? I thought we were gonna NOT mess this up!’ My wolf scolds. She facepalms.
“Um I mean, Hey again.” I can feel my face flush. I turn forward, eyes wide and feeling absolutely humiliated.
He lets out a chuckle. Its a beautiful chuckle. His voice turns me on like crazy. Oh my Goddess, I just want to pounce on this man and grind my lady parts on him.
Ok, Xan. Get it together.
“You’re beautiful when you blush.” He says.
A shiver runs down my spine. Kiss me, Derek. Hold me and kiss me and ravage me until I come undone!
“Thanks!” I smile at him. Was that an appropriate response? Is it ok to say thank you for a compliment? I think I said it too loud too! How do you flirt? I forgot how to flirt! I FORGOT!
“You have such beautiful hair. Can I touch it, please?” He asked.
Touch it? Grab it! Pull it as you take me from behind!
Oh Goddess, if I don’t get it together he is going to smell my arousal. This is so humiliating.
“Um, sure.” I smiled. I tilt my head and some of my hair falls to his side. His hand runs so gently through my hair. I watch as his eyes flicker from brown to black then back to brown.
Ok, so he likes my hair. Thats a good start, right?
He leans over to me, tucking my hair behind my ear. He whispers into my ear, his breath tickling it and making my panties so wet “Its so soft, just like the rest of you.” I bit my lip and close my eyes. He leans down into my neck and inhales so deep, taking in my scent. I can tell he has been waiting to do this since he last got to on Friday.
His lips make their way back to my ear, this time, just grazing my lobe, “You smell so damn good, my mate. Like Vanilla and Lavender. I can smell how turned on you are and I want to do something about it. You’re all mine. No one else can have you. Mine.” His hand makes its way onto my thigh and I let out a whimper. My breaths are shallow and rapid. I’m getting lightheaded. I open my eyes and look over to him, his smirk is just too much.
I stand up all of a sudden. Everyone in the room turns and looks at me. I look around in shock because I’m a damn mess and I have no idea what the hell I’m doing.
“Miss Paradis, Is there a problem?” Mrs. Hopp, the teacher, asked.
I looked over to Derek. His adorable crooked smile made my knees weak.
I grabbed my bag. “I have to pee.” The class burst out laughing and I ran out of the classroom.
What in the actual f**k am I going to do for the rest of this year?!
I hide out at the football field until the final bell rings. Bentley and Nicky are practicing and they (Or really, Bentley) loves when I come to visit their practice.
“What are you doing here, Pumpkin?” Bentley says walking over to me in the bleachers. He leans over to me, showing a cheek. I roll my eyes and lean in and kiss his cheek. He looks back at his teammates. He’s just rubbing it in.
“So which one of these guys think I’m hot?” I ask, smiling sweetly.
“This one.” He says, smiling back.
“Bent, gross. You’re my best friend. I’m not dating you.”
“I was your first kiss, Xan. I mean, it was a big responsibility and I took it on and you had a great experience.” I roll my eyes. I slip my legs out over the edge of the bleachers and dangle them, I lean my chin onto my arms resting on the railing, staring at Bent. He wraps a big hand around my calf. “You know, I could also help with another first…” He wiggles his eyebrows at me.
“I’m not giving you my virginity, Bentley.” I say looking away from him.
“The offer is always on the table.” He turns and looks at his team again, leaning back next to me.
“You just want to bang a virgin.” I laugh. “You’re just a perv.”
He turns and looks at me offended. “That is so not true. Xannie, I’m a perv for you and only you.”
I let out a loud laugh.
A couple of Bentley’s teammates come over. I recognize them as Shawn and Tim, also warriors sons.
“Hey Xan!” Tim says.
“Looking good today, Xan.” Shawn says. He winks at me.
I smile sweetly. “Hey guys.”
Bentley stands in front of me, separating my legs and standing between them. “Watch how you talk to my future wife, please.”
I slap him on the back of the head. “Bentley, I’m not marrying you.” The guys laugh.
“You got a mate yet, Xan?” Shawn asks.
My stomach flops a little but I try to hide it. “He’s out there somewhere, right?” I smile, dangling my legs again.
“He’s a lucky man.” Tim says, smiling at me.
I can feel Bentley getting tense. He doesn’t like his friends hitting on me. I brush his hair back with my hands. He leans his head back, enjoying every second of attention. “Yea and until I find him, I’m gonna be stuck dealing with this asshole.”
Bentley leans his head all the way back and looks up at me with a glare. I lean down and kiss his forehead. “Don’t look at me like that. You know you’re an asshole!” He smiles at me.
“He sure is!” Shawn says.
Bentley pushes away from me and runs after Shawn.
“Are you and him really together, Xan?” Tim asked. I look over to him. He’s standing closer to me now. I smile at him. I lean back onto my arms. “No. Why?”
“You guys just seem kinda close.” He turned and put his hands up near my side and smiled at me.
“We’re close because he’s been my best friend since elementary school.” I narrow my eyes at him. “Are you jealous, Tim Evans?” I giggle.
“And what if I am?” He shifts his stance a little and his smile grows. I sit up and lean on the railing again.
“Hmmmm, I heard a rumor about you recently.” I raise my eyebrow at him, my smile becoming a smirk.
“Oh really, and what rumor was that?” His voice is becoming softer and he’s getting dangerously close to me.
“I heard you’ve been talking very inappropriately about me in the locker room.” I said softly but serious. I stare at him to watch his reaction.
He laughs. “He is an asshole.” He turns and yells “BENTLEY!” I laugh and stand up. I wave and hear Bentley groan about me leaving early. I start heading back to the building, since the bell will ring soon so I’ll just head to my locker.
I wait at my locker for my friends. I stare at my phone, scrolling through social media. I get the smell of something so wonderful. Fresh forest and mint. Mmmmm!
“Where’d you go? You just ran out on me.” I almost drop my phone. There is Derek leaning on the locker next to mine, smiling at me.
I squeak and jump out of surprise. “You fuckin scared me, Derek.” I said, turning to my locker and opening it. I just want to shove my entire face in here and hide before I humiliate myself any more than I already have today.
“Can I ask you a question, Xan?” Derek asked, coming closer to me.
I can feel my heart fluttering and my legs becoming jelly. This man is going to absolutely kill me with just how much he turns me on. “Mm-hmm” I hum.
He reaches over and tucks some hair behind my ear. I let out a whine and I can hear a low growl in his chest. He is just as turned on as I am which weirdly turns me on even more. Dammit.
“That guy in math. Is he your boyfriend?” He’s looking at my face for a reaction. I’m too flustered to give any reaction.
“Guy in math? Oh um, in Geometry? That’s Pete. No.” I say, trying to not stumble over my words.
“Good. Because you are MY mate. You do belong to me. I don’t want to share you with anyone.” He says. He’s leaning very close to me again. My body is trembling from his intoxicating scent. Its so strong its practically tickling my cheeks.
The bell rings and brings me back to reality. I slam my locker. “I barely know you, Derek.” I say, smiling. “Maybe we should exchange numbers? Get to know each other?”
He nods his head. Goddess, he’s so sexy. I wanted to pull him down to me and take in his scent.
I unlocked my phone and pulled up my contact list. I handed my phone to him to put in his number. He typed in his information and handed it back to me. He pulled his phone out and did the same.
“Ready?” I heard a voice behind me. I turned to see Derek’s friend walking up to him. He smiled at me again. “Oh hey! It’s Xan, right?” He said to me. I smiled sweetly (its my signature move).
“Yea. And you are?” I asked. I reached for his hand but Derek blocked him from putting his out.
“This is my friend, Dustin.” He said curtly. I glanced at Derek and then looked back at Dustin.
“Nice to meet you Dustin. How are you liking the school so far?” I smile and lean against my locker.
Derek is getting uncomfortable.
“Its alright, we’ve only-” He starts.
“We have to get going.” Derek says.
“Whats the rush?” I ask. He narrows his eyes at me. He steps closer to me and puts his hand under my hair, holding my cheek with his thumb while he whispers in my other ear.
“Because I don’t want to have to kill anyone for looking at you the way they are. Including Dustin.” He nips my ear lobe with his lips and I close my eyes with a small gasp. He kisses my forehead and lets me go, walking out the door with Dustin.
I’m left standing at my locker, breathless and wet. Why, Moon Goddess?
