Chapter 10

1116 Words
It was the first day of the week, and Alejandro was in his office already. He was sitting on his chair, but he wasn’t starting to work. He hasn’t checked all the papers on the top of his table. Alejandro’s eyes were glued to the door of his office. He was waiting for something or someone. He sighed for the 10th time already, but still no one came into the office. He remembered the last conversation he and Elissa had. He said that Elissa was free to go. What if the woman did not come back? What if the woman decides to leave her job? What if she already hated him more, and she didn’t want to see his face anymore? Alejandro started to feel uneasy. I’m just worried that I haven’t taken my revenge on her yet. She was not hurt enough. Alejandro was trying to convince himself that he was just worried that he hadn’t hurt Elissa that much. And that he was not yet satisfied with getting his revenge. He wanted to torture her more, to make her feel the pain that he felt when she left him. The door clicked, a sign that someone was about to enter his office. He cleared his throat, getting ready for how he would talk to Elissa. He almost stood up when the door opened, but was disappointed right away when he saw the woman who had entered his office. “Sir, we will have a meeting about the celebration later after lunch. I was informing you just in-case you wanted to attend,” Trixie said. Alejandro sighed. He was so disappointed upon seeing Trixie, he thought Elissa would be the one entering his office. He was now irritated. Did Elissa quit? She can’t just quit like that! “No, Elissa will monitor the progress,” Alejandro said. Trixie just nodded, and left the office. Alejandro couldn’t wait anymore. He was about to go out when the door opened again. Elissa came in. She was late, and just like what she was expecting, Alejandro’s neck was long as a giraffe’s neck. It looked like the man had been waiting for her. Maybe the man was thinking of an evil task again. That’s why he was waiting for her. Elissa left the city early in the morning, going to Cariaga province, but unfortunately she forgot her phone at her apartment. She had to go back and get that because that was her way of communication with Katarina. She always video calls her every night. And she needs her phone every day for her work. She sometimes puts some notes on her phone. “I’m sorry, I’m late,” she quickly apologizes. She was unsure of Alejandro’s expression. He looked mad, but at the same time there was a sign of relief on his face. What is he thinking? Is he mad that I am late? Does he want some coffee? Elissa was trying to figure out what Alejandro was thinking. The man was silent, and not scolding her for being late. He was just looking at her with mixed expressions. “I-Is there something wrong?” Elissa asked him, hesitant. Alejandro was now confused about how Elissa was acting. The last time he checked, the woman was mad at him. But how could she act like there was nothing wrong, like she wasn’t mad the last time. “Aren’t you quitting?” He asked. So, that was what he had been thinking, huh? Elissa thought. “No way,” she answered. “The salary was enough reason for me to stay,” she added before going to her table and started working. Alejandro shook his head upon hearing that from Elissa. She hadn’t changed, money was all that mattered to her, Alejandro thought. He even thought that Elissa wanted to seduce him because of his money, so despite the hardship he would bring to her, the woman would stay. In the morning, both of them remained silent, and just focused on their work. Elissa has been answering calls and emails from their supplier. Before lunch, Trixie called Elissa to inform her about the meeting after lunch. “Do you want me to order food for you?” Elissa asked Alejandro when lunchtime came. He usually asked her to order some food for him, but right now Alejandro had another plan. “No, I have a lunch date with Shalsey,” he told her straight. Of course that was a lie. It was not a lunch date because Shalsey’s real boyfriend would be there also. Carlo, Alejandro’s best friend, messaged him saying that he had to treat them a lunch because of Shalsey’s help the last time. Elissa was a bit surprised, but did not say anything and just nodded at him. “Her talent fee should be a million,” Carlo said while laughing. He was talking about the participation of Shalsey in Alejandro’s plan. “Nah! This lunch is enough,” Alejandro said. “Alright, but next time you need my girlfriend, you really need to pay,” Carlo joked. Alejandro just laughed. He knew that the two were always there whenever he needed, and no need to pay. “So, how was Elissa?” Shalsey asked curiously. Shalsey thinks that Alejandro was still in love with his ex-wife. He was making so much effort to piss the woman off. Someone who has already moved on won’t waste time just like the man was doing. “Fine, I guess,” Alejandro simply answered. “She was very pretty, no wonder you married her before,” Shalsey said, then smiled. Shalsey personally likes Elissa, and she thinks the woman was not after someone’s money. Maybe there’s more reason why she left Alejandro before, she thought. “You do still love her, right?” Shalsey asked Alejandro. He almost spilled the juice he was drinking because of that question. “What? No way!” He immediately denied. There was no way he was still in love with the woman. “That’s good ‘cause she’s there,” Shalsey pointed in one direction. Alejandro instantly looked at that way. Shalsey was right, he could recognize Elissa’s back. “I think she has a date,” Carlo said. Shalsey and Carlo looked at each other. They were exchanging looks that had meaning. “Yeah, but he went to the restroom, I guess,” Shalsey added. The two smiled when Alejandro stood up. He marched towards where Elissa was sitting. “I love you too!” Alejandro was a step away when he heard Elissa say that. F*ck! Who the hell was she saying I love you too?! He mentally cursed.
