Jordan’s POV
As usual, Ryan always throws a party at his house the first weekend after schools open. No one complains because they enjoy his parties. Who wouldn’t enjoy the party when there’s abundant alcohol and food with a 110inch Samsung screen for the gamers to do their thing. The ladies love the 50-meter-long infinite pool, not to swim in it but to flaunt their fake tanned bodies taking photos in their bikinis. We all know there isn’t anywhere in this country now that someone can get a natural tan.
His parents occasionally take a vacation around this time leaving him all the room to throw these parties. Emily never disputes to such because she gets to sneak in a few of her friends and it is always too late for Ryan or I to realize we have under aged teens amongst us when you’re hosting over 50 teens from our school who go an extra mile to invite one of their own people.
“Did you remember to get a police permit this time?” I ask Ryan as he browses through his closet for a shirt.
His been half dressed for over half an hour looking for a shirt to wear.
“It was the first thing I did over a week ago.” He shouts from the closet.
Police permit you ask. Well, the last party Ryan threw was the same day as Blair’s birthday which made her very angry because the majority of her guests cancelled on her at the last minute to come to Ryan’s pool party. He did it on purpose and that backfired on us.
Blair called the police on Ryan for a fake noise complaint despite her house being so far from his and we weren’t even that loud. She went on and added to report that there was an abuse of what she suspected were drugs.
The police didn’t waste time coming to clear us all out, killing the party. The house was searched, and nothing was found, with a warming we were let off and the majority of the people had already left.
I did warn him it was a bad idea to have a party on the same day as his ex-girlfriend’s birthday and he never listened.
“Found the perfect one.” I hear him say before he walks out of his walk-in closet and back into his room.
“How do I look?” he asks with his arms open wide and a smile plastered on his face.
“Took you hours to pick that shirt?” I ask with a raised eyebrow. I am comfortably sitting on a bean bag chair in his room playing with a yoyo.
He looks at his reflection in the mirror behind him.
He doesn’t actually look bad, black all-star converse, black chinos with a Black n Bianco Boys' Signature Sateen Long Sleeve Dress Shirt in Blue. His dirty blonde hair is styled in the bad boy look he thinks he gives off to the ladies.
“Nahhh you’re just jealous.” He says.
I scoff, “Never.”
“So did you invite anyone special?” he asks.
“I actually invited the girl I told you about.” I say with a smile.
“The one you have been studying with?” he asks.
“Yep.”
“I see…” he says sounding uninterested. “I hope you eventually get lucky, you have spent a whole week with her in the library, how long will it take you to get her……….”
“Ryan it’s not always about hooking up with every girl you talk too.” I cut him off.
“Ey.. I am just saying.” He turns around to face me after fixing his hair to his perfection. “Actually, you might get lucky tonight.” He points at me then smiles.
I give up.
Mary-Kate is a nice girl I want to get to know. I don’t want to rush into anything before getting to know her.
“C’mon lets go downstairs before my sister sneaks in her friends.” He walks towards the bedroom exit.
“What makes you think she hasn’t already done that?” I get up following him out with the yoyo still in one of my hands.

Mary-Kate’s POV
“You have a beautiful home Mrs Martins.” I politely appreciate the beauty of Billy’s parents house.
The white two-story house has modern fittings in every room each looking different from the other one. When we entered the house, I thought the foyer alone was beautiful until Billy showed me around. Mainly the living room, dinning room, kitchen which I only had a quick peck of, but it is huge you would think they prepare meals for a hundred people in there but if you see the dining room, it would all make sense.
Billy’s room was the last one he showed me which is on the first floor. Billy’s entire room is bigger than the apartment my dad and I live in.
The room is perfectly tidied up, nothing I imagined Billy’s room would look like. Two parallel walls painted white while the other two are painted ash grey. A few perfectly framed posters of Britney Spires and ‘Fifth Harmony’, which makes a lot of sense for Billy’s preference.
The room has a king-sized bed against the wall right opposite the main entrance with two bedside tables with a lamp on each side of the neatly spread bed with a white duvet and four matching pillows. About half a meter from the bed are huge windows on each side.
On the right side of the room there’s a desk with a beautiful simple lamp hanging from the wall. A few textbooks on the desk with plenty more nicely stacked in the book shelve next to the desk.
On the left side of the room is a door that leads to his private bathroom which is the biggest private bathroom I have ever seen. A sink bowl, a shower stall, a free-standing white bathtub, and a toilet. Right next to the bathroom is a walk-in closet with all his clothes, shoes, bag, hats and all his other accessories neatly arranged.
Must be nice having so much space to yourself. The apartment dad and I live in is so small there isn’t a single room I would pass through without either seeing or meeting him.
“Oh, please the Mrs Martins makes me feel old.” She smiles. “Call me Maria.”
I return her smile.
A few minutes after Billy finished showing me around, his mother arrived and one of the house help came to inform us that lunch had been served in the garden. Billy and I quickly came down to meet his mother.
The woman does not look a day over 30 to be Billy’s mothers. She’s taller than I am with long blonde hair that is neatly pulled back in a ban. She has the brightest blue eyes I have ever seen. Nice flawless skin with beautiful facial features not forgetting not even a single ounce of fat anywhere on her body. She is amazingly beautiful.
Lunch was amazing, there was so much food to choose from. Even when I tried my best to pick a bit of each, my plate was full before I knew it.
“My son has not stopped talking about you the past two nights I have been around.” She says.
“All good I hope.” I chuckle.
“Of course, babe. I doubt you have a single bad bone in you.” Billy smiles at me.
“Billy tells me guys are attending a party this evening at the James’ premises.” She says looking directly at me.
“Uhmmm……” I turn to look at Billy.
I know we are going to a party but not sure who’s place it is. All I know is that the host is a friend of Jordan.
“Jordan’s friend is Ryan James.” Billy informs me.
“Pardon me, I don’t even know the name of the host.” I apologies to Billy’s mom.
“It’s alright darling, it might take you a while to remember all the names of your peers.” She smiles.
I like Billy’s mom, she is kind and very friendly. Makes sense why Billy is so nice.
“Let me not keep you two long, I bet you want to get ready for tonight.” She says, “If you need me at any point please feel free to come find me.” she says as she gets off her garden chair.
“Thank you Ms. Maria.” I smile at her.
“Mom I will definitely need you to help me convince Mary-Kate on one or two things.” Billy rolls his eyes.
His mother laughs at his statement, “No problem love.”
I send Billy a warning look.
“What!! I know I will need her at some point. She is the fashion guru of this house after all.” He says.
****
“You sure this isn’t too much?” I ask Billy while staring at the stranger staring right back at me in the full-length mirror in Billy’s mom’s room.
“You look amazing I am jealous.” Billy responds next to me.
Billy is dressed in black tight-fitting jeans, a purple velvet long sleeved shirt that is folded up to his elbows with the first two buttons undone showing off a nice gold chain hanging around his neck. On his feet his got black suede shoes. His hair is laid back in the sides with the front part nicely styled in curls.
He looks very nice, smells nice too.
I on the other hand cannot recognize myself.
I don’t look entirely different, but I don’t look like the ordinary Mary-Kate. If the choice was left up to me, I would have picked a mid-length dress with a cardigan to throw over when it gets cold.
Instead, Billy and his mom convinced me to wear black ankle boots, black skinny jeans, a red boob tube showing my shoulders and flat stomach off. Billy’s mother has applied a bit of makeup on my face. Brushing my chick bones with some rosy, pink blush, my eye lashes with black mascara and of course colourless lip gloss. I said no to the eye shadow because I want to still look natural, and my hair is falling on my back.
“You are a natural beauty.” His mother says. “I have a little something I would like you to have if that’s alright.”
What is she off to get now? The studs she gave me not so long ago were enough.
“It’s alright you don’t have to….”
“I know you don’t want to accept any gifts, but you will love this one and I think it will fit perfectly with your outfit.” She insists.
I give her a small smile and off she turns and enters her walk-in closet. I was wrong to think Billy’s room was huge because the room we are in now is twice the size of Billy’s. Definitely bigger than our apartment.
A few seconds later she returns with a tinny rectangle black velvet box. “I bought this many years ago and I would like you to have it.” She places the box in my hands.
I softly shake my head, but Billy is quick to lightly pocking me in the side.
“C’mon open it.” Billy says with a huge smiles.
I carefully open the box and find a beautiful silver chain with a tinny butterfly pendent. “This is beautiful. I can’t……..” I start to say to her but then she places her hand on mine.
“And it shall look amazing around your neck.” She gives me a warm smile.
I do not remember the last time someone smiled at me the way she is smiling at me right now. She has that motherly smile I have not received in many years.
“Thank you so much, I don’t know how I will ever repay the kindness you have shown to me.”
She shakes her head, “No need to pay me back in anyway. You are a nice girl Mary-Kate, and my Billy is lucky to have you as a friend.” She says.
“Here let me help you wear that.” Billy offers getting the tinny chain from the box then fixing it around my neck.
“Perfect, now lets go. I believe we are already fashionably late already.” He teases dragging me out of the room.
“You two enjoy yourselves.” We hear Billy’s mom shout after us.
“Will do.” Billy and I say.
I am both nervous and looking forward to this evening.
