Mary-Kate’s POV “You see not so complicated.” He says. Jordan just explained everything Billy was explaining before and a few more things making everything seem so simple. If I keep studying with Jordan this subject shall be easy. I can’t help but admire him, this whole time he's been taking me through business notes, I have been staring at him and thinking about how amazing he is. At one point my thoughts wondered as far as me imaging what our children would look like. Jordan is amazing, his smart, handsome, and so much more I am yet to find out. “Mary-Kate are you even listening?” he asks looking straight into my eyes. “Uhm yes, the sole trader.” I smile. Guilty, I was not listening at one point. He graces my ears with his heavenly soft chuckle. I don’t remember the last things he just explained but I am sure it will all come to me once I go through the notes like he said, the notes are easy to understand. “I hope you understand and remember all this.” He says. “I will. Thanks for spending time explaining things to me. I don’t know how I can ever repair you.” I can have your babies if you like. “Oh, don’t mention it. I am sure I might need your help in another subject one day.” He chuckles. Oh my, his chuckles are music to my soul. “I doubt that you seem very intelligent.” I giggle. “Well,” he scratches the back of his head. “I could use some help in Math and Biology. The other subjects I am good, I think.” “Oh, I can help you in Math and a bit of Biology. I have decent grades in those subjects.” “Really?” he asks sounding quite surprised. I nod my head and smile. “Including those equations Mr Brown introduced us too yesterday?” he asks. “Yep, those are actually easy.” “Wow, you already understood them all in one day?” he asks with a raised eyebrow. “Not to brag but I finished the Math syllabus before this year began.” I praise myself a little. My hard work does deserve a little praise. Jordan’s mouth hangs open, “You’re joking right? How is that even possible?” “Well, I have had a lot of time on my hands and all I do in my free time is study so that’s how I finished the Math, Biology, and 80% of the English syllabus.” I explain to Jordan who still seems shocked that I have completed two syllabuses. “Wow, so while the rest of us are getting drunk at parties someone has been finishing a few syllabuses they say. That’s some good work Mary-Kate.” He says. “Now I feel like a nerd.” I look away feeling a bit embarrassed. “No no no, don’t think like that.” He begins to panic. “It’s a good thing. I bet you have a good GPA.” He smiles. I shyly smile, “It’s alright.” “I bet it’s more than alright.” He adds. “I kind of enjoy reading, that's no lie, but I do need to socialize and be a normal teen like everyone else.” I look down at my fingers. I have never really had friends to socialize with, if I did maybe then I would be like any other teen. “My father always says I grew up before the right time came. He sometimes pushes me to attend gatherings with my peers, but I have never found the right company.” I say. “His right, you need to enjoy being young before it’s time to be an adult.” He smiles. “As a matter of fact, you should come to a party this weekend.” “What, a party?” “Yes, I will share the details with you. You can come with Billy if you like, you guys seem close.” “Yeah, we kind of are.” I scoff. Its only been a few days and we have been so close. “I have never attended a party….” I whisper hoping he doesn’t hear the last part. “You’re kidding right?” he raises his eyebrows. I nod my head. He chuckles, “Your innocence is amusing. This shall be your first party and I will make sure you have a nice time. I promise.” He smiles. “Alright, I will be there.” “Perfect.” Wow, I just got invited to my first party. I need to tell Billy about this. For the first time I am having a normal conversation with a guy and its going smooth. Wow. “I’ve got to run now, I have a meeting and basketball practice.” He says while collecting his books all together. “Thank you for the help.” I smile at him. “It was nothing. I am yet to see your math skills, how’s tomorrow after class?” he asks. “I will check my calendar, but we should be good.” I say. “Perfect, see you tomorrow.” He winks at me before walking away. I sit still watching his figure disappear through the library. As he exits the library there is a girl standing at the same exit. She is staring at me and sending me daggers. Who is she? Could she be Jordan’s girl friend? She is also very beautiful with long beautiful blonde hair. **** Jordan’s POV “Hi Miss Head girl.” I smile at Blair who is standing by the library entrance which is also the exit. She looks annoyed. I wonder what has ticked her off this time. I can surely bet its Ryan and no one else. “I have been looking for you everywhere.” She says annoyed as we start walking away from the library heading to the meeting room. “You could have just dropped me a text asking where I was.” I shrug and she sends me daggers. “Who’s the nerd you were with?” she asks pointing back at the library we have just left behind. “Mary-Kate.” I say her name with a smile. Everything about that girl is amazing including her name. She seems like a very smart girl too. “Is she new? I swear it’s the first time I am seeing her face in this school.” “Yes she is.” “Oh she must be the scholarship girl.” She says not sounding so pleased. “Scholarship girl?” I ask out of confusion. “Yes, Ryan and I were informed this morning after our meeting that we have a girl that has been enrolled under a scholarship program. The board decided to give some less privileged pupils an opportunity to complete their high school at Cali High. Why they picked this school is beyond me. Why they dragged a less fortunate being to be with us is just annoying.” Blair goes on ranting about mixing with poor people and so on. Blair says mixing with anyone she feels is beneath her is a problem for her. I have known Blair since we were both little kids. Our fathers have been doing business together from as far back as I can remember. With our fathers not only being partners but friends, Blair and I have seen each other grow like Ryan and I have with our mothers being friends. Because of our parents all being friends and associates, we have known each other since we were like seven years old. Celebrated all our birthdays together, done some dumb s**t together, gotten drunk, you name it. Before Blair and Ryan decided to date then break up after dating for two years, we were inseparable as friends. After their breakup, it was hard being around them both at the same time because they would always argue. Each time the three of us are together, Blair would always start the topic and want me to side with her. Ryan would of course expect me to back him up. They are both my friends but being around them after their breakup is the most difficult thing I have done in my life. One annoying thing about Blair that is her luck of respect for the less fortunate and unprivileged. She never wants to mingle with anyone that has no status in this town. At school she also only mingles with those that have the same status as she does. Ryan and I are different, we can be found around people with no status at all although sometimes Ryan gets a little uncomfortable thinking he will get robbed or something. Growing up, my mother has always told me to treat all human beings equal. It doesn’t matter what your name is, who your family is or what you have done. At any given time, worth can be stripped away from you. A lesson I mean to carry with me forever. “I am glad she is not in the same class as I am.” Blair is still ranting. “Blair I think that’s enough.” I speak up to put an end to it and she just rolls her eyes at me. “You haven’t fallen for the scholarship girl have you?” she asks. I have. Mary-Kate is nice, smart and very beautiful. She is nothing like any girl I have met at this school or any other social gathering my parents have dragged me too. My father has been trying to pair me up with daughters of other prominent families in our country but none of them are as interesting as Mary-Kate is. Not even Blair can be compared to Mary-Kate. “I was just about to call you.” Ryan cuts in as he walks out of the meeting room with his phone in his hands. “Why would you be calling me?” Blair rudely asks. “Oh not you, I was talking to Jordan. I don’t have your number to have to waste my time calling you.” Ryan says with a smirk. He says his words with the sore purpose to piss Blair off. “Arrgg!!! Just get in so that we start.” She says then pushes past Ryan. These two’s bickering is annoying but right now my boy just saved me. “Yoh that girl is nuts. I wonder what I saw in her.” He says. “Yeah, you can say that again. I wonder what you both saw in each other.” When we were all 14, we got drunk for the first time at one of Ryan’s parties. All our parents were out of town and his older cousins suggested we have a party. We all thought it would be one of those ordinary parties we had where we spent the entire night playing video games while Blair and Emily played dress up but no, Ryan and Emily’s older cousins had another agenda. Their cousins invited girls of their age from high school and bought alcohol. Ryan and I were of course curious about how alcohol tasted, and we took some. When they started playing truth or dare, we joined them and that’s when Blair was dared to kiss Ryan. It was on purpose because Ryan’s cousins wanted to see their little cousin kiss a girl. He was scared but wanted to kiss Blair. She also wanted to impress the guys and that’s how she kissed him. A few more drinks later, Ryan was confessing his feelings for Blair and one thing led to another, and within a week they started dating. Two years later, Ryan was growing interested in other girls but trying so hard to stay loyal to Blair. During a party, Ryan winked at another girl who he allegedly may have kissed, and Blair got angry, and she then broke up with him publicly, humiliating him. They both wanted me to side with the other which I couldn’t do. I have tried to get both passed their failed childish relationship but that is impossible. Picking both as head boy and girl was an opportunity for them to work together and get past their childishness but no, they agree to disagree on everything. “I blame my cousins and the alcohol.” He says as we take our seats at the meeting table. “Yeah let’s blame them.” I say after Blair shoots us both an oblivious look. She probably knows what our conversation is about. “Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to the first fundraising meeting.” Mathew the student secretary welcomes us all.
