Chapter1- No Way Out
My blood turned ice-cold.
He was behind me.
Close enough that I could feel the heat of his presence, heavy, suffocating and inescapable.
For a moment, I couldn’t breathe, move or think.
My throat tightened as I forced myself to turn around.
He stood in the shadows of the hallway, one hand tucked casually into his pocket, the other resting against the wall.
His dark eyes dropped slowly to the suitcase at my feet, then back to my face.
He wasn’t angry nor was he surprised.
He just gave that cold, unreadable stare.
“You packed light,” he said softly.
The gentleness in his voice made my stomach twist.
I swallowed hard. “I-I….”
He tilted his head slightly, “Answer me,” he shouted. “Where were you going?”
My lips trembled.
I had rehearsed this moment a thousand times in my head.
But now that he stood in front of me…
All my courage was crumbling.
“I…” My voice cracked. “I can’t stay here anymore.”
The words hung in the air like a fragile thread.
For a second, he didn’t react.
Then he took one slow step forward.
I instinctively stepped back until my back hit the wall.
His gaze darkened at the sight of this.
Hurt flickered across his eyes, “Can’t stay?” he repeated quietly.
His hand lifted, brushing a strand of hair away from my face.
The touch was gentle.
“You said that once before,” he continued. “Do you remember what happened after?”
My heart slammed painfully against my ribs.
Yes.
I remembered.
That was the last time I had tried to leave.
The days that followed were filled with isolation, control, and coldness from him that felt worse than him shouting.
Tears burned my eyes.
“I’m tired, Damien,” I whispered. “I’m tired of being watched… controlled… treated like I belong to you.”
His expression hardened instantly.
“You do belong to me.”
The words came out calm but terrifying.
My chest tightened even more painfully.
“I’m not an object,” I said, my voice shaking. “I’m a person. I need space. I need freedom..."
“Freedom?” he interrupted sharply.
He let out a quiet, humorless laugh.
He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.
“I own you, there’s no freedom?”
My breathing quickened.
“Please let me go,” I said weakly. “I’ll do anything to be free from this cage.”
Something dark flashed across his face.
In one swift movement, he gripped my chin, forcing me to look at him.
“This is the first and last time you try this nonsense with me”
His thumb brushed my trembling lip.
“You’re mine and mine alone”
Tears spilled down my cheeks.
“Why do you hate me this much,” I whispered, “what did I ever do to deserve this cruelty?”
He said nothing, his eyes were still fixed on my lips like he wanted to kiss me.
I got disgusted at the sight of this, I would never let this monster kiss me, so I pushed him aggressively.
But Damien didn’t move an inch, he was too strong, way to strong.
What did I expect? A mere human compared to an alpha.
I felt helpless and hopeless. The sad realization that I was forever his prisoner made me burst out in tears.
“You see?” he murmured, his lips brushing dangerously close to my ear.
“You can’t leave. You belong to me. No matter what.”
My chest tightened instantly. My fingers trembled.
He grabbed my hands forcefully as we walked through the hallway.
At first, I thought he was taking me to his room, like he always did whenever I offended him. But this time, we passed it. Something wasn’t right.
He looked angrier than usual.
I must have really upset him.
“W-where are you taking me?” I asked, my voice trembling.
“You’ll find out soon,” he replied, tightening his grip. His fingers dug painfully into my skin.
“You’re hurting me,” I cried, trying to pull away.
“Shut up,” he snapped.
We reached the end of the hallway, the door that led to the underground dungeon.
My heart dropped.
No… no, no, no…
“Please,” I begged, panic rising in my chest. “Please don’t do this. Damien, don’t..."
He froze.
Slowly, he turned to me, his grip tightening painfully.
“What did you just call me?” he asked, his voice low but filled with rage.
“I—I’m sorry,” I stammered. “I didn’t mean to…. Please forgive me. It won't happen again.”
But my apology only seemed to make things worse.
His expression darkened.
With a sharp movement, he grabbed my hair and shoved me toward the stairs.
Everything blurred as I fell. My body slammed hard, leaving me breathless.
I couldn’t move, all I felt was pain but I managed to catch a glimpse of Damien.
He didn’t flinch.
He stood at the top of the stairs looking unfazed, by what he had just done to me.
That was when i realized.
I never really knew him.
I thought I understood his cruelty. I thought I had seen the worst of him.
I was wrong.
He wasn’t just a monster.
He was worse.
I gasped for air. The pain was overwhelming, crushing, but no sound came out. My voice failed me.
Help me…
I stretched out my hand toward him, silently begging, hoping he would care.
But he didn’t.
He turned and walked away, disappearing back into the hallway.
And just like that, I was alone.
"Help!"
"Help me please!". I tried to scream out loud, but I couldn’t.
Forcing every bit of strength I had left, I pushed harder but to no avail.
Darkness slowly closed in.
And then… everything eventually went black.
