Mine to Cherish

"Stop running like an i***t and come back to me this instant" cried Sonia. But it seemed as if Asher had no such intention. That 5 year old boy was running like his life depend on it. "If you dont come back now I will tell your teacher then see what will happen of you." Hearing about his teacher and imagining how his teacher will tell everyone about his act in the class, the boy came to a halt and looked back at his mother with those cute puppy eyes. Sonia had that satisfied grin on her face as if she had got the thief. "Mommy please don't tell anyone. I will not eat chocolate without your permission. Ammi please maan jayen werna mere dost kahen ge Asher kitna ganda bacha hai." (Mom please accept or else my friends will say that Asher is a bad boy.) Sonia let out a chuckle as she looked at her pretty boy. "Ok Asher I will not tell anyone but promise me you won't take the chocolate from the fridge without my or daadi's permission." (Grandmother) Asher nodded but still was looking at the chocolate helplessly. Sonia smiled and picked Asher then gestured him to eat the chocolate. Asher grinned and kissed his mother's cheek. He then got down and ran towards his daadi's room. Sonia watched him running. She gave out a sigh as she saw how much Asher resembled his father. It was enough to bring back all those memories associated with Asher's father. Tears brimmed in her eyes but she had learned in past years how to control them and not give away any sign of how much pain she was in to everyone around her.     *********** As Sonia stepped in the house to go to her mother in law's room she heard a phone ring. She went to the lounge to pick up that old phone. As she picked it up she heard the voice which she didn't expected. She was stunned. The person on the other side was as if he knew the emotions of the woman. "Tell ammi I am coming on this saturday and don't you dare this time to go away when I am coming" His admimistrative voice was enough to send a shiver through her spine. She fell down on her knees thinking about what was coming for her.
