#Seventeen Years Later#
Sierra and Keira were grown girls now, and they aged beautifully. Everyone in the hood adored them. Not only were they very beautiful, they were completely identical. No one could figure out which was which as they grew. They sounded the same when they wanted to, walked same and had the same manner of addressing matters.
Keira was an artist. She loved to draw, design and create. She wanted to become a famous shoe designer someday. She had such passion for shoes. She would go to the trash everyday after her side job and pick out old, worn out shoes and re-create them. She was also the more fierce twin, Sierra was fierce too but in a more cautious and considerate way while her twin was danger itself with a sharp mouth and even sharper hand. The thugs and hood skunks gave her, her respect, even her gang members knew when not to mess around with her. Keira loved Fame, She was crazy about the idea of it. She always dreamt of being a very famous designer one day. Being recognized by the whole world was her second aim in life, right next in line to being very rich.
And for her creativity, no-one could tell offhand the shoes she wore on a daily basis had been once discarded and not bought brand New!. That could only be pure talent and her parents were very supportive of it in the best way they could.
Meanwhile, Sierra had her own ambition. Her dream of being in the political field someday. She had such love for politics, loved talking about it, loved being in conversations about it. At only seventeen she led the first strike press against her employer at her side job for harsh working conditions and poor wages. Everyone was very impressed at her influence despite coming from such a very poor background.
Despite being poor, both girls excelled in academics. They also worked extra jobs, like washing cars, being waitresses or joining their mom from time to time to clean rich people’s houses and still aced with studies. And After Graduating high school with a GPA of 4.9 each, the twins were awarded a three year scholarship to study in New York College. Their parents, Carlos and Catalina were very proud of both of them.
Keira had been skeptical about accepting the scholarship because she didn’t feel like college was going to be any help towards her life but days of advice from her parents and loved ones, made her re-consider her decision and follow her twin to study in the university after all.
While in college, Keira opened her doors to bigger opportunities as she got associated with Jesse Thorne, a boy (friend) who came from a very influential family. He saw her work, and was amazed. He was a very nice person towards and always told her she had a lot of potential and could turn talent in Millions someday with the right connections.
And before long, Keira started going on important family dinners which Jesse invited her to,met some really important people, even shoke hands with them. With Jesse always being her number one fan, bragging about her wonderful designs and the magic she had in her hands to create she hadn’t known that first slightly important meeting was just the beginning of her credibility. Then after almost three years later, at just twenty years old, Keira officially signed her first major shoe deal with Leroy Carré, a well known footwear ambassador in the states. This was approximately the ultimate big step for Keira and she was loving every moment.
While After graduation, Sierra was immediately hired by the government. Coming off with a Bachelors Degree, the best in her class, and third best ranking student in the whole state, she deserved the recognition. She was hired as an attorney for a Government owned company in New York City and it had been the happiest day of her life. After all, she was just twenty years old. Marking her the youngest Government employed lawyer in the states.
News of the twins on their way to success spread throughout the hood and people they knew were happy for them, while others didn’t just care. They even became some what of role models for other kids who didn’t want to go to go to school and study hard in other to pursue their dreams.
Just a Short while later, Keira signed herself another big time partnership document and released her first brand. She advertised herself on social media, in real life and through posters. She believed all the money she spent trying to promote herself would eventually come back to her, and so it did. In a shorter period than expected.
The CIMFEST was an exhibition event in New York, an event where upcoming artists performed their tracks and most importantly where Business Men and Women show cased their products. It was the biggest event of the summer. Hundreds of people travelled from where ever they had homes to attend that particular event. So it was really important. Plus the Competition and Suppression was Crazy amongst the business people, big and small. But Keira stood firm, holding her guard high. She refused to let the bigger Business owners Oppress her hard work.
Her friends, twin sister Sierra, a few Family relatives and both her workers had come to help out. They called customers to her booth using various marketing techniques so they check out her designs and anyone who visited her booth ended up buying something. She had been overwhelmed because the day had gone better than expected. Even Lisa Torrie, a well known public figure had visited her Booth and left after purchasing three Gold standard Pieces .
A Very successful sales day went by. Keira became even more proud of herself and so was everyone around her. She had gathered enough money to finally open her very own store (KEIRA ORTIZ FOOTWEAR), her child hood dream. where people could actually come and purchase what they wanted and still buy online. The store took almost three months to set up, but on just the first week of the long anticipated launch, Keira’s stilettos collection hit a big sale of tens of thousands of dollars. She was making ‘Big celebrity money’ as she referred to it on just her first week.
Not a week went by without one or two important people in the City coming to her store. With her earnings extending to over six figures, she employed five more workers, so she could have an equal number of sales girls. She even appeared on her first ever magazine ‘New York times’ and became alot more famous in the city too, Not just by being a young rapidly rising entrepreneur but she and Sierra were also on the rank of the most Identical twins in New York.
As time went by, Keira started getting invited to more and more small interviews and talk shows about everything she’s been through and how she’s still growing her business and all. She definitely became a Young role Model for Many. “Never give up on your dreams” she always advised those watching through the screen. Her business partners even advised her to get a bodyguard for security purposes because of her growing fame.
But Keira mildly rejected the offer because she and Sierra basically looked the same. What was the purpose of one person with a bodyguard when the people wouldn’t even know who was who and still try to harass whoever they chose to. Plus Walking around with a bodyguard was something Sierra would never abide by. She said it was pointless and at the moment, Keira thought so too.
With their earnings put together they had an even bigger plan. Sierra and Keira had been capable of renting their parents a bigger, more comfortable apartment in the bronx and still create their dream apartment in New York. They secured a flat in THE EDGECOMBE of New York City. A place ten times bigger and better than where they grew up when they were younger. They had always spoken about living in a place like that when they were older whenever they visited the city with their father. And a few years later there they were. “Twenty-two and winning!” Became Sierra’s favorite on the road quote.
They were the Good seeds, as many of their fans called them. They had been Sent by God to drag their parents and their generation out of stinky poverty.
