I woke before sunrise, the same way I had for the past three years. For a few seconds I forgot where I was. Then the cedar scent of the sheets and the low, steady pull in my chest reminded me. I was back in Silver Moon territory. Asher was sleeping on the other side of the wall. And nothing about this situation was under my control the way I had planned. I dressed quickly in the clothes I had arrived in, strapped my dual blades across my back, and stepped into the hallway. The pack house was still quiet.
