The meeting was held in the council room on the second floor of the pack house. I had only ever seen the inside of it once as a teenager, when I had been sent to deliver a message and had barely been allowed past the door. Now I walked in at Asher’s side and felt every pair of eyes in the room land on me at once. There were eight of them — senior warriors, two border captains, and three elders.
