SURVIVING THE GAME

CHAPTER 4

We were all gathered in the training grounds, waiting for an instruction from the authorities, but none of them had shown up yet and some people were training, many others showing off their various abilities. I had no idea why they did that, I mean not that I was complaining at least I get to observe those to avoid and those I can take head on. There was no way I would show off what I could do, it'll only put me in a disadvantage. Apollo and the others started to approach me, I mean I went out of my way to avoid them and here they were coming over.

"Why are you hiding all the way over here" Apollo said, wasn't it obvious that I didn't want to be around them. Then zigma spoke

"There's a high possibility that we'd be paired together to be pitted against other people cause individual battles would be impossible with this number of people "

"And what makes you think that I'd want to be paired with you guys?"

"When it comes down to it, you don't really have a choice", and of course it would be Apollo who'd say that.

"Why don't we review each other's abilities, it'd be better if we could give everyone functions based on skills". Zigma sounded sensible with this idea but if we were put against each other in an individual fight, it's gonna be disadvantageous.

"I'll go first" Apollo said,"I can manipulate matter"

I know that's not his only ability but that's a really good ability, he can control any and everything that has weight and occupies space.

"Does that include air and the elements" I asked him for clarification.

"Sure, I can cause shortage of air and I can change the chemical compound of any element, so I know how to change an enemies attack, really cool huh"

"What about you zigma?"

"I have my intellect, isn't that enough for you?"

"Everyone has intellect " I said deadpan

"I can see minutes into any opponents move"

Okay that's a nice ability, couple that with combat skills and you're basically good to go.

"What about you Thanathos?"

He just glared at me, woah scary much, I crossed my arms looking at him with one brow raised in indignation.

" blood lust"

Really vague answer, but I've heard of few people who possess this ability, even to them their powers are unpredictable and they're very dangerous when they feel strong emotions.

"well are you gonna tell us about yours or what?" Zigma asked.

"Well, I don't think I can tell you my ability, it's to something I can explain"

"that is bull s**t" Apollo said.

"Yeah, what a load of crap, what do you mean you can't tell".

"you just need the ability for allocation of functions right?, well the only function I can serve as is the bait, literally"

"The bait? You actually want to do that job?, well looks like we don't have to put you up to it Zigma" Apollo said, Zigma glared at him and started assigning posts.

" In the competition we're basically retrieving ten keys meaning only ten people or less can make it to the end of the competition and emerge as the winners, the competition is going to hold in a forest and the keys are of different colors and numbers that reflect their rank. It's an individual battle but we'll secretly work as a team, the only rules in this test is to not kill, We'll split up into three groups, Apollo and I will go individually while Loki and Thanathos will pair up, it's better if they underestimate you guys. I know you've got a skill but if you don't want to tell us then save it for your final match, the keys are located in the east, west, north south but we won't move west, we're going to the east north and south, the most keys are in the north so Loki and Thanathos that's where you're headed, I'll go south and Apollo goes east, when you've grabbed a key move up to the live rings, we have to not screw it up". When Zigma was done with the plan, an enforcer climbed upon the podium and started to explain what we we're meant to do and look for, Zigma's ability really comes in handy, he doesn't just know combat moves, he sees a bit of future.
