BATTLE AGAINST US 🔥:The truth behind the blood
BATTLE AGAINST US🔥 By whisperbyhaliyah ✍️» .................. PROLOGUE .................. My name is Valentina Johnson. I was born and raised in a middle-class home. We were neither rich nor poor. I am the only child of my parents, their hope, pride, and joy. I graduated from Ikepe Community High School, a government school where I worked extremely hard to make my parents proud. Fortunately, I earned a scholarship into the university. I was the happiest person on earth and made a promise to myself that no matter what life placed before me, I would fight through it and win. Getting into the university felt like a dream come true. I made friends, laughed freely, and finally lived the life I had always imagined. But then life happened. One of my friends was murdered right inside the school campus. A guy full of life. Full of dreams. Everything perished and crumbled within the blink of an eye. And that was when I realized... Sometimes life fights against us. ❗️DO NOT COPY❗️ .................. CHAPTER ONE .................. [ UNIMAK CAMPUS ] A taxi slowly drove past the university gate before stopping at the entrance. Valentina stepped out of the cab, looking completely lost as she stared around the environment. Everything there looked like another world entirely. Even the flowers and buildings screamed luxury. With just one glance, she already knew her stay here was going to be fun. Well... that was only a guess. She was still admiring the campus when she almost bumped into a moving car. Luckily, the taxi driver quickly pulled her back. “Miss, watch out,” he said calmly. Valentina placed her hand on her chest, trying to steady her breathing. “Thank you, sir. I’m sorry, I got carried away,” she replied with a small bow. Just then, the back door of the car opened and a young man stepped out. Everything about him screamed wealth. From his expensive cologne down to his outfit, anyone could tell he came from an affluent family. “I’m really sorry, miss. My driver almost hit you,” he said with a gentle smile. “It’s okay. I was the one lost in thought,” Valentina replied softly. The young man smiled. “You’re a fresher too, right?” Valentina nodded. “My name is Jaden,” he said, stretching out his hand for a handshake. “I’m Valentina. It’s nice meeting you.” “The pleasure is mine,” he replied. He glanced at her luggage before speaking again. “Since taxis aren’t allowed into the hostel area, let me help you with your bags.” Valentina smiled warmly. “That’s so nice of you, Jaden.” His driver carefully packed her luggage into the car trunk before they both entered the vehicle and drove off. .................... [ FEMALE HOSTEL ] As the car stopped in front of the female hostel, Jaden stepped down and helped Valentina with her bags. “Thank you so much,” she said. “You’re welcome. I guess I’ll see you around.” Valentina watched him drive off before smiling to herself. “He’s such an amazing guy.” She walked into the hostel building where the receptionist attended to her and handed her room key over. After getting to her room, she froze in surprise. Three beds. “So I’ll have roommates,” she muttered. Just then, a young girl around her age walked out of the bathroom, obviously one of the roommates. “Hi, I’m Valentina. Nice meeting you.” No response. The girl simply glanced at her before walking away coldly. Valentina awkwardly scratched her neck. “Well... this should be fun.” She dragged her boxes toward the empty bed at the edge of the room and began arranging her things quietly. .................... [ SCHOOL GATE ] A young girl stood outside the school gate arguing loudly with her father. Obviously another fresher. “Dad, people will laugh at me and call me daddy’s girl! Let me start my university journey by myself,” she complained dramatically. Her father sighed deeply. “Look, young lady, I’m taking you to that hostel whether you like it or not. You’re not forming baddie for me here, Ella.” “Dad, this is unfair!” Ella whined loudly. “Look at all my mates dragging their boxes with steeze. Throughout secondary school, you drove me around like some baby. My friends used to laugh at me!” Her father folded his arms. “Oh really?” “Yes!” “Then pack your things and get out of my car.” Ella’s eyes widened in excitement. “Seriously?” “Out.” Without wasting another second, she quickly dragged her boxes out of the trunk. Her father immediately drove off angrily without even saying goodbye. Ella smiled proudly. “Freedom at last.” But barely two minutes later, reality hit her hard. The boxes were too heavy. “Oh my precious dad...” she cried dramatically. Almost ten minutes passed while she stood there helplessly. Suddenly, two playful-looking guys walked up to her. “Hey cutie,” one of them said with a grin. “I’m David. Why are you standing here all alone?” The second guy laughed. “I’m Martin. One look at you and anyone can tell you’re hopeless right now.” The two boys burst into laughter. Ella rolled her eyes immediately. “What’s funny? First of all, I’m not your cutie. Secondly, I’m not hopeless, so get lost.” David raised his hands innocently. “Damn. Somebody woke up angry today.” Martin chuckled softly. “We were only trying to help.” The boys turned around to leave. Ella quickly panicked. “Wait!” Before she could run after them, the loud roar of a power bike suddenly echoed through the campus. Everything happened too fast. The bike sped toward her at full speed. Ella’s eyes widened in fear. BAM! The bike slammed into her body, throwing her hard to the ground. Everyone froze..... Few seconds later Well, that was only her vivid imagination. Before the bike could hit her, Martin quickly rushed to the scene and dragged her back. They both fell heavily to the ground, hitting their heads against the tarred road. The biker quickly got down from the bike and helped them up alongside David. “I am so sorry. I can’t believe I almost hit someone,” he muttered. “It’s okay, but next time don’t be reckless. And I’m sorry too for not watching the road properly,” Ella replied. “How can I make up for my mistake? Should I take you guys to the health clinic?” he offered. “Well, there won’t be any need for that. But if you insist, can you take my cutie here to the female hostel? She’s stranded,” Martin asked nicely. “What?! I’ve never sat on a bike in my life. What if I fall from it?” she asked in panic. “Then fall from it and die. You have a habit of pushing your helper away,” he replied with a cold smile. “You’re unbelievably scary. Next time I see you around, I’m going to murder you, i***t!” she shouted while the bike rolled out of sight. With a smile, Martin said, “She’s so cute.” David couldn’t believe his ears and burst into laughter. --- [FEMALE HOSTEL] When they got to the entrance, they exchanged greetings pleasantly. “I’m really sorry for any inconvenience I might have caused you. I’m Junior… and you are?” he asked with a smile. “What? Junior? Eww, that’s ridiculously funny. How can a grown man like you have that kind of name? Anyways, I’m Ella,” she said dramatically. “OMG, Ella sounds like the kind of name many of my kindergarten classmates had. We’re not so different after all. So eww to Ella too,” he replied. They both burst into laughter. “That wasn’t funny though. My name is classy while yours is childish. But I’ll prefer calling you Jay,” she teased. “That sounds perfect,” he replied. They exchanged contacts in the process. “So, Mr. Jay, could you please help me with my luggage to my room?” she asked in a cute tone. “Oouuu… room? That sounds really nice. I’ll gladly do that,” he teased. “You’re so sick up there. You really think going to my room means anything? Your thoughts are dirty,” she grinned, and they both laughed. They got to the reception and handed over her key. At first, they didn’t want Junior to follow her upstairs, but after much persuasion, they finally allowed him. --- When they entered the room, another problem appeared entirely. Ella looked like a lost puppy when she saw three beds already arranged, and two roommates were already there. “Jay, don’t tell me we’re going to be three in here!” she shouted. “It’s so obvious you are. My condolences, Ella,” he replied dramatically. “I’m so deaddddddd!” she screamed. “It’s okay, roomie. We’re going to manage and cope. I heard it’s only for first-year students,” Valentina said as she stood up from her bed. At that moment, Junior fell for her instantly. “I hope so. And I think you’re cool. I’m Ella, and my friend right here is Junior,” Ella said, facing him, but he was already lost in thought. “I’m Valentina, and that’s our third roommate over there—” Before she could finish her statement, the weird girl cut her off. “No one asked you to speak for me, bunch of hypocrites,” she said coldly. “Who are you referring to like that? Are you okay at all? Did you hit your head somewhere?” Ella asked angrily. “It’s fine, Ella. Don’t pick a fight with anyone here. You just arrived,” Junior said calmly. “Fineee! Thanks for helping me with my boxes and bringing me here. I really appreciate it,” Ella said while escorting Junior out. --- When she came back inside, she met Valentina already arranging her things for her. “OMG! How did you know I hate arranging stuff like this? You’re so sweet… unlike some weirdo here who only knows how to frown. Listen, weirdo, I can’t live in the same room with a loner like you. I’m the loud type, and I hate gloomy people,” Ella added while facing the other girl. “It’s okay, Ella. She may be going through a hard time. She’ll come around,” Valentina replied softly. Before Ella could respond, they suddenly heard a loud bang on the door. Valentina stood up and opened it. Junior rushed in, panicking. “Ella… my bike… my bike is gone!” “What?!” TBC...
