After speaking to Michael and Cynthia White, Pat and Lina drove across country to Clare in order to interview Ross Sloane, the retired sergeant who’d led the initial investigation when Andrew and Jane had been reported missing. It was late afternoon when they arrived at the address Bob Davenport had given them, a cottage with a large garden in Opie Street. Ross opened the front door as they stepped onto the veranda.
