Chapter 1
Everything I knew was a complete lie... 24 hours earlier Akara POV; My name is Akara. I'm 18 years old, have long honey blond hair and crystal blue eyes. My height is a bit short at 5ft3. I have lived in the city of Nebraska with my family my entire life, but I want to go out of the city to go and study at the University of LSA, where I want to study Fornesic Anthropology. It's the study of human remains. My two sisters Angelina and Kelly don't think it an interesting major to study in but I don't agree. They irritate the living crap out of me but I love them non the less. I also have a wonderful, loving boyfriend whose name is Richard. We met through high school and we both want to attend the same university. I can't wait to see him at the ceremony. I am busy getting dressed and putting the final touches on my make-up. I have decided to do my hair in a French braid style. I am busy braiding my hair when someone knocks on my bedroom door. "Come in" I said. The door open to reveal my mom wearing a beautiful long red dress that shows off her figure. I can't deny it my mother is beautiful with short blond hair and green eyes. I will never understand how none of us did not get her eyes. "Akara are you ready darling? We need to get going or we are going to be late." my mom said. "Mom I'm almost done, I'll get you at the car." I stated. "Okay sweetheart , but don't be late we want to get there on time you know" my mom said to me while walking out of my room and closing the door. "Yes Mom" I say before she can fully close the door. I finish getting ready and walk down stairs to where the garage is and seeing my family waiting for me, of course my sisters had to make a comment on how I am dressed. "What's up with your hair?" Kelly asked giving me a disgusted look. I know for a fact that there is nothing wrong with my hair, it just they can't say anything nice to me. I just try to ignore there comments most of the time. "There is nothing wrong with my hair." I said to her while getting into the car and trying not to show how irritated I was by her question. We arrive at the my high school and I am the first one to climb out of the car. I told my parents that I'm going to go and find Richard, not waiting for their reply I started walking to the schools entrance where I know he will be waiting for me. I walk up to the entrance and my eyes scan the area to try and find Richard amongst the crowd of people here this evening. I spot him near the tuck shop that is just before the rugby field talking to some of his friends. I make my way over to him smiling, a smile on his face appears as he notice me coming over to him. "Hello my love" I say to him while giving him a hug and a peck on his lips. "'Hello Gorgeous" he says while hugging and kissing me back. "How are you doing?" he asked. "I'm fine just a bit nervous." I tell him as I feel my throat being a bit tight from being so nervous. "Don't be nervous, try to relax. This is our graduation ceremony you should be excited." he says to me with a smile. "I know but I can't help feeling this way" I say to him with a bit of attitude. "I know love, he come here" he says pulling me in for a hug. "Don't worry everything will be fine." I hug him back enjoying his presence. "Hey should you not go to where your class is now?" he asked me while still holding me. I push him away, worried that I might be late to sit with my class. I give him a final hug and kiss before going to where my class is sitting on the rugby field. The rugby field have seats lay out for students and parents to sit. The students sit in the front while the parents sit in the back and in front is a make up stage that the school made for the ceremony. I walk to where my class is sitting and take a seat five rows from the front of the stage. We waited 10 minutes before the ceremony started and the principle to come up to the stage and conduct the ceremony. The principle tap the microphone three times to test if the sound is on before starting her speech. "Good evening to all students and parents. We are here to celebrate all of these students achievements and hard work. After tonight they will embark on a new journey full with knowledge and aspirations and continued success..." After the principle speech they starting calling the students names one by one to receive their diploma certificate. Obviously my class was last to be called onto the stage and receive our certificates. A few names was called onto the stage, where the students shake the principle hands and receive their certificate and then to go back to their seats. When I knew my name was close I was feeling nervous again. I was thinking how I could fall on the stage before the principle and everyone here. I noticed strange men standing on the sideline of the rugby field just watching the ceremony. It look as if they were waiting for something to happen. Trying to put my focus back on, I turn to look where my family was sitting, when I finally spot them they are engrossed in the event. Three more students walk onto the stage receive their certificate and walk back to their seats. The principle goes back to the microphone to announce the next person name to come up to the stage. I look back at where I saw the strange men and they were no longer there. Suddenly the whole audience break out into a whisper and I try to look around to maybe hear what they are whispering about. I turn back to look at the stage and find what everyone is whispering about. A man walking on stage towards to principle. He's tall, wearing a black suit with a red tie. But what shocks me is his very pale skin that has a blue shade in it. He walked to her and took the microphone from her hand and everyone can hear her say " Sorry Sir but you can not be on stage, please go back to your seat." He gave her the most terrifying look and you could see the horror on her face when she stared at him. Most people in the audience went quiet but some were still whispering. He turned to look at the audience and everyone was quiet, not a sound was made. The silence was deafening. He looked at the crowd as though he was searching for someone or maybe something. The next thing he said froze me in my chair, my heart racing and the feeling of chills when he spoke. "Where is Akara Griffin?"
