Chapter 64
The road north out of Kiev was initially busy but the traffic thinned out more and more as we approached Chernobyl. I was in my customary position behind the wheel and we made good time. We'd been running over plans between us, but it was clear that we needed more information. This was our last chance to rescue Amy. We knew where she was but had no idea how to get to her. She was deep in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, which was a subject we knew nothing about.
We stopped at the last town before the exclusion zone entry checkpoint, pulling up outside the general store. Viktor went in to see what he could find out about the exclusion zone, the level of security and how best to get in. He took the map in with him with our target marked on it, to pinpoint where we needed to get to.
