Finally, the nuclear experts from Bucharest arrived at the hospital. Four of them turned up in two unmarked white vans, unloading a huge array of materials, equipment and tools from the back of the vans. They stationed themselves in an area next to the X-ray room that contained what was left of the unfortunate Chad.
‘Who’s in charge here?’ asked the leader of the nuclear crew.
‘That would be me, I’m the chief of staff,’ said a portly man in a suit and tie, puffing out his chest and looking rather self-important.
‘Well, you’re not anymore. This case, this area and that body belongs to us until we get to the bottom of what’s going on here,’ responded the man.
