I’d thought of Agni before I went to sleep, I wanted to talk to her.
Sure enough I woke in the dreamscape, under the forest canopy.
“Hello Ivy! I’m so glad to see you, Been busy haven’t we?” She remarks waggling her eyebrows at me.
I can feel my face flush, my skins red hot.
“Two men after you hey? What a prize you must be.” She chuckled.
“Hey you know how I tried to let Garrett down, you read the letter, he just wanted to be told face to face is all.” I reply defensively.
“How’s that going for you?” She winks. “Two days have been and gone now?”
“I’m working on it!” I reply.
“Well better work faster, the balls tomorrow, and I reckon our Mate might have something to say, to you having another Alpha on your arm.” She says pointedly.
I nod, that’s the truth, I needed to pull my socks up.
We chatted a while about the book and my suspicions, about the bloodlines and the curse of the moon goddess’s, pointing to my scar she shifted to her human form.
“Agni you have the same!” I gasp.
“Of course we are 2 wholes of the same person. My wolf form its hard to see because my coats so thick and its dark in this forest.” She explains.
I nod.
“Well we sure have been slack the last few weeks but best get back into some training tonight hey.” Agni continues with a wink, she shifts, I’m not quick enough to dodge her teeth as they sink into my blocking arm.
We’ve taken a break we are both breathing hard, I’d managed to shift, but those few weeks of slacking showed in a few sloppy movements on both side and the sweat that lathered our coats.
“I think that’s enough for tonight, I wanted to show you something anyway.” Agni say between gasps, she turns and I follow her through the forest, suddenly we stand at the edge of a clearing.
In the middle is a perfectly circular pool, reflected on the waters surface is the moon, not a ripple, it would lead you to believe you could touch the moon there in front of you.
Something about the place tugged at Ivy’s memory.
We walk out to the pools edge, as Agni turns to me.
“This is where I leave you Ivy, there is someone that needs to speak to you more then I do tonight, he shouldn’t be long.” Agni turns heading back into the forest, I’m still in my wolf form, but I can’t be bothered to shift so I sit on the ground and wait.
Conrad POV
I’d just wanted to sleep off the alcohol and be left alone tonight, but my wolf couldn’t have that apparently
.
I woke in the dreamscape he looked impatient and disgusted at the state of me.
“Come on she’s waiting for you! She’s already there!” He grunted, he was in his human form clearly pissed.
“Calm down Kon, I’m coming! Don’t frigging drag me.” I snap back.
He starts to jog, and I follow silently, apparently the alcohol can still affect you in the dreamscape, this sucked.
I’m about to ask again whom it is I’m supposable late to meet, when I see her my Mate, she’s sitting in her shimmering black wolf form, staring into the Moon pool.
Kon stops gesturing me to go ahead, I decide to shift, I’m not ready for her to see my human form, without seeing hers too.
I lope across the clearing to her, she hears me coming and looking over her left shoulder.
My heart flutters, Mate, she’s even more beautiful under the moons glow.
Ivy’s POV
I sit by the pool as Agni instructed, staring at the magnificent reflection of the pool, in the dreamscape there was not a breath of wind, so no ripples disrupt the surface.
I hear rhythmic footsteps approaching, I look over my shoulder, Mate, he was coming to meet me.
I look back at the pool, my heart flutters, I wait for him as he comes to sit beside me.
For a moment we are both silent, then I turn to find him watching me not the pool, both our eyes widen as we take in our matching scars, this confirms Mr Walsh’s theory, I have the Moon Goddess’s cursed blood.
But I’m not ashamed because this also confirms that I’m sitting 2 feet from my wonderful Mate.
I’m about to speak when Conrad goes first.
“Mate, I..I am so sorry, If I’d known this would happen his incline his head at the scar, I would have been more careful.” He looks away.
“I’m not sorry, At least we can be 100% you’re my mate, and you can’t mistake me as otherwise now either.” I chuckle; he looks up surprised at my words.
“We’re almost an identical set now, it’s like looking at my own reflection.” I smile trying to lighten things, Conrad grins now, thrusting his head in my direction.
“You’re the newer version, I’m the older one, you look much less..” He looks down as himself his coat riddled with scars. “worn out and damage as I.” he’s smiling now.
“Means you’ve just had a harder life, doesn’t mean I won’t look like you in a few years.” I smile but he frowns at that,
“I don’t want you to look like me,” He says eyeing the scars again.
“You’re so beautiful as you are.”
Now I look away, cheeky charming bastard.
I think about the ball tomorrow night.
“Are you going to the Dark moon ball?” I ask.
“I was thinking about it, I’ve been invited but hadn’t decided, are you?” He replies.
“Yes I am, I’m representing some friends too ill and elderly to go.” I confirm, swelling with pride with the task, I’d been given.
“Well I suppose I’d best find a tux and a mask for tomorrow then.” Smiled Conrad.
“Mask?” I ask.
“Of course, it’s a masquerade ball.” He replies, nodding.
“I didn’t know that, I’ll have to get one tomorrow.” I’m suddenly feeling unprepared.
“You shouldn’t bother, I wouldn’t want anything to hide the face, of my soon to be Luna, I hope..” Conrad adds with a wink.
“You shouldn’t say that, till you’ve at least seen my face.” I smile, trying to hide my nerves.
“I’m already in love, your looks couldn’t change it.” Conrad replied, his eyes sparkling.
The forest is darkening, the darkness begins crawling toward the centre of the clearing to them.
“Seems that’s our cue, but I wish it wasn’t.” Conrad gazes towards the pool.
“Its ok I’ll see you tomorrow, if you can find me.” I drawl.
Our gazes lock, as his outline shimmers with mine, we reach out together touching noses.
Conrad’s POV
I wake back in my own bed, I reach over turning the lamp on, then flop back looking at the ceiling.
Yep she was perfect, we’d almost kissed, though I wished we’d been in our humans forms, but soon enough.
I thought back to my tainted reputation, she hadn’t said anything yet, so I suspected she didn’t know exactly who I was, would she reject me once she knew the whole me? I hoped not.
Ivy POV
I woke back in my room.
What a perfect Mate I had.
We’d almost kissed, and I now wished I’d been in my human form.
But I would see him again tonight at the ball.
I would be sure to buy a mask I’d always been pretty but most of that was thanks to my eyes and my face being symmetrical.
Would he really still love me completely with the scars, that now tore through my face, whether he had them too or not, It’s always different for men, they look rugged but a woman looks damaged.
I shook my head; the goddess wouldn’t have chosen him otherwise, he didn’t seem like the type to be so cruel.
I snuggled into my pillow.
