******Hi all, Would appreciate hearing from my readers in the comments, love to hear you favorite part so far or favourite character, or if there something in the story so far that you can relate too.
Thank you for reading! :) *****
When I opened the door, Garrett stood there smiling broadly, I noticed his smile faltered.
“Oh Ivy.. What happened?” Garrett stepped forward cupping my face, concern filling his eyes.
“Happened? Nothing I just had a shower.” I reply, then I felt Garrett run his fingers over the new scarring under my eye, and I flinched.
I pushed him away, running to the bathroom.
Sure enough, her new scar jagged scar was still there, even against her golden tan it looked angry and deep.
I looked behind me in the mirror to where Garrett stood, he looked furious clearly wanting to clobber someone.
“Who did this?” He asked breathing deeply, his voice low and threatening.
I didn’t know how to explain what Mr Walsh had told me, and I felt it was not information I should be throwing around.
So I came up with a lie.
“About 2 weeks ago when I was still travelling, I got caught out late, a drunk man was looking for someone to hurt, and picked on me. I had him for the most part but he broke a bottle, swiping me across the eye with the broken end.” The lie was easy, it rolled like honey off my silver tongue.
Garrett watched me for a moment, I looked away, ashamed of my face, when he sighed.
“Oh Ivy, I wish I’d been there to protect you.” He pulled me into his arms, I began to cry not for my scar but for having to lie and let this wonderful man go again, and soon.
After I’d composed myself again, Garrett had another good, long look at my scars.
Commenting that now, I could apply for a part as a villain in some bond movie, which brought a smile to my face,
I returned that I’m be able to intimidate people now, using the line “I’ve seen some s**t” in a deep Morgan Freeman voice.
Garrett started laughing so hard he was doubled over, gasping for air.
As we walked outside, I stopped, there was Mitch and Lucus, they were gaping at the scars across my eyes.
I suddenly felt self conscious, Garrett pulled me into his side.
“Its ok boys,” lowering his voice he said “She’s seen some s**t, things we could never imagine.” I look at him and he winked at me, I felt better with him here.
I looked back at the boys, they looked between us before bursting out laughing, clearly enjoying the accent Garrett had put on for them.
“Bloody terrible Garrett!” Mitch commented, shaking his head.
“Yeah don’t give up your day job, for voice acting Mate!” Lucus spat laughing.
They all piled in the car, the boys apologised for there part in all this, gesturing to me and the scar.
I shook my head, telling them its ok, their hearts were in the right place.
We pulled up outside an older pub, I hadn’t been here before but the boys said it had, the best meal reviews online.
We headed inside, finding a table we sat down, browsing the menu’s, when I heard her.
“So you found her alright then?”
My head snapped up, there was the troublesome customer Gina, I hadn’t seen her in a few days.
But her she was, standing there with notepad and pen, chewing gum like a cow on cudd.
I’m about to reply, when I hear Lucus.
“Mate.” We all look at him, including the Gina.
“Mate.” Her eyes focusing on Lucus alone,
Garrett stands up, looking between the two, he says something to Lucus through a mind-link, as Lucus looks at him apologising.
Gina takes our orders, delivering them to the kitchen, before returning to take Lucus for a ‘walk’ as she put it.
We chatted until our meals arrived, but I could feel tension in the room.
I ordered T-bone steak and salad, whilst the boys ordered rib eye.
“Well I suppose that’s one down.” Mitch said offhand.
Garrett growled, ending the conversation quickly.
After we had finished eating, Lucus still hadn’t returned, so we decided to go into the bar.
Mitch went to get the drinks, as I headed to the billiards table with Garrett on my heels, the table was free but a group close by eyed us, as I set up.
I walked past them, grabbing the pool cues, as Garrett and Mitch waited with the drinks, the group stared as I passed them again, whispering.
I threw daggers and most of them turned away, except a tall male with dark grey eyes, he watched intently lifting his drink in greeting.
Something about him bothered me, when I looked at Garrett, he was watching the male too.
I broke the balls, rolling all over the table, then Garrett went, shot after shot, we laughed at our pathetic form.
Soon we were smiling, drinks in hand, almost forgetting we were no longer together, almost.
“You guys look like you’re having a lot of fun over here, mind if I join?” We look up from our game, and the grey eyed man stood there.
I look at Garrett, he shrugs, I nod.
“Sure we can play doubles.” I say as Mitch looks up shaking his head, beer to his lips, Garrett slaps him on the back, winking at him.
“What’s you name?” I ask, something about his attention intrigues me.
“My name is Jace.” He smiles.
“Well Jace, you can be on my team and we’ll verse the boys,” I smile at Garrett, with a challenge in my eyes, he c***s his head, smirking but makes no comment.
We are halfway through the game, when the boys call a toilet break.
All the beers they’d drank, hitting them at once, I laugh at their stalling, they were about to be pants!
“Interesting scars you’ve go there.” Jace comments, I realise I’m alone with him.
“Ahh Yeah, its fairly new.” I brush off, hoping he’ll drop it.
“Yeah, my brother has one exactly the same, it's also fairly new.” He says quietly so only I could of heard, my eyes widen and I look at him.
I’m about to ask who his brother was, when Garrett and Mitch returned.
As they did Gina and Lucus followed them in, Gina eyes bulged out of her head, looking at Jace and I.
She said something to the boys, they look from me to the boy Jace.
Then my phone pings, I pull it out of my pocket, I read the time 11 o’clock!
The boys look like there about to say something, when I cut them off, addressing Garrett.
“Garrett do you know what time it is?!” I’m very upset, No I’m pissed, no one was watching the time.
I’d planned to meet Mr Walsh in the morning to get a few extra hours in.
“Yeah, but tomorrows Saturday.” He replies.
“Yes but I have work in the morning, so I think its time to go.” I reply, I walked over to the table, drinking the rest of my whiskey.
I turned to leave, when Jace called out.
“I’ll see you again soon, Ivy.” He called over my shoulder.
When we got in the car, Lucus took a minute to say goodbye to Gina, then finally got in to go.
He was the designated driver, which was fantastic, as Garrett and Mitch were in no condition to drive.
We arrived back to the motel quickly; the boys hardly said a word the whole trip.
I hadn’t got to talk to Garrett, but he was too drunk now, so I said goodnight to the boys and headed inside.
I undressed, changing into my pyjamas, I walked into the bathroom.
Inspecting my face again, the scars were so stark, I’d be sure to put Mr Walsh’s make up to use.
After going the toilet, brushing my teeth, I returned to the room climbing into bed.
Snuggling down, my eyes fell on the parcel I’d left unopened, I’d look at it in the morning.
Conrad’s POV
I sat on the couch, the whiskey bottle in front of near empty, I know it was vain but the new scars across my right eye, were more I didn’t need to add to my collection.
Especially when my mate was yet to see my human face.
A collective chorus of laughter sounded, as 2 taxis dropped off the pack members that had gone out, Jace had tried to get me to go, but my new scars had me feeling very depressed.
The bastard rogue had got one last swipe in, before I’d ripped out his throat, my anger had blinded me and I wasn’t as careful as I usually would have been.
So here I was watching a marathon of ‘Fugget about it’ on youtube and drinking away my sorrows, in my boxers.
The door opened, slamming against the wall, and in stumbled a very tipsy Beta Jace.
I looked at the clock, 1am, I looked as he wobbled in drink in hand, it takes a lot of alcohol to get a werewolf drunk, by the bottle in his hand he’d hit in hard.
He dropped himself heavily into the armchair to my right, I looked at him, rolling my eyes at the stupid grin on his face.
“You missed a great and very curious night.” Jace slurred at me.
“Oh yeah what was so great and so curious?” I replied, bored; he was very drunk.
“Yes, we drank, sang, played billiards and most importantly. I meet a very interesting she-wolf.” He drawled.
I look over at him, he look like he had an ace up his sleeve and I needed it.
“Ok Jace, I’ll bite, what was so interesting about this she-wolf?” I ask.
He points to his face.
“Seem you guy’s share an identical scar, when I asked, she said it was fairly new.”
“So? What’s so interesting about a similar scar?” I ask getting annoyed.
“Its identical to yours, when I mention my brother had the exacted same one, also newly acquired, she looked shocked.” He continues, I listen uninterested.
“And her eyes were a deep blue with golden center and specks, like looking into the stars.” He finishes, my full attentions on him now.
“My Mate, Ivy?” I ask, he nods.
“Yep that was her name, shame you didn’t come out for drinks, you guys could have been self conscious together.” He shrugs.
“Why did she end up with the same scar as me?” I touch it, it was still tender.
“I don’t know, but no mistake she was your mate, you should have seen the amount whiskey she drank! She was there with 3 other wolves, the Alpha was the most…attentive to her.” He finished carefully.
I stood, grabbing the bottle off the table.
“Thanks Jace, I think I’ll head to bed.” I waved over my shoulder climbing the stairs to my bedroom.
The mystery wolf was another Alpha? I’d kill him.
