Two hearts leap and one breaks.

I woke in the dreamscape, I blinked something felt different, straining I heard running water, a creek? I went to take a step looking down, I realised I stood on 4 paws, I was in my wolf form, I blinked in awe, my coat was a shimmering black. I followed the sound, finding a creek, it wasn’t wide maybe 5m wide, but it ran black as oil, I sniffed it no scent, looking at my paw by the edge, my coat matched the water perfectly. I heard a deep sigh, my head snapped up, squinting I could make out a hulking form resting just within the tree-line. My heart thudded in my chest, pins and needles down my arms and legs, I felt a strong pull to approach the wolf, and instead I decided to talk to it. I hadn’t tried with another wolf, but Agni said I could, so I mind-linked the form. “Hello?” My voice was soft, but it must of heard me, Its eyes snapped open. “Hello? Did I hear someone.” It replied cautiously, this made her smile. “Haha yes look to your left, I’m here.” I grinned. The wolfs ear flickered, its head turning slowly in my direction, my breath caught, the eyes that meet mine reminded me of molten silver. The wolf got to his feet, never looking away, as if he’d blink and I’d disappear. “Are you a friend of Agni?” I asked, I’d never meet another wolf in the dreamscape. “Is Agni your wolf? I’m sorry but I wouldn’t know her.” He shakes his head. “Then who are you? Are you my Mate?” I c****d my head in question. The wolf smiles in a large display of teeth, his eyes aglow. “Yes I am, Mate.” The wolf replied. I heard him gasp as I did. With that one word, his scent of whiskey, wood smoke and pine, filled my nose, it was intoxicating. He stood across from me now, the only thing between us was the black creek, standing across from him our heights almost matched, though his build was solid and hulking with muscles, his body riddled with scars. “What’s your name mate?” I asked, the word sending a shivers through me, it felt right. The wolf stood a little taller. “My name is Conrad and you?” He replied. “Mine is Ivy.” I replied, before asking. “Are you an Alpha?” he seemed surprised by my question. “Yes I am, what about you?” He returned. “I’m not sure, I’ve never had a pack.” I confide. “Would you like one?” when he asks, something in his voice mad me feel hot under his mischievous gaze. “Maybe as the Alpha, I don’t play well under others.” I reply, my voice laced with promise, I’d hardly believed they were my own words. The Alpha grinned, lowering his head in mock submission. Making my heart thud in my chest, I didn’t miss the challenge in his eyes. Suddenly the forest began darkening, we lifted our heads to the sky in unison. His eyes turned pleading and frightened. “I’ll see you again soon Mate, I’ll find you I promise.” The Alpha Conrad said before the mind-link cut. My eyes burned as I opened them, into a too bright bathroom, the water had gone cold, the many smells of the bathroom overpowering my nose, water, soap, mould…I stopped. I could smell things, I hadn’t been able to before, could I have unlocked my werewolf traits finally? I mind-link Agni. “Hey are you smelling this?” I ask. “Smelling what?...Oh my gosh! I can smell everything! Mould, soap, paint even the towels! Ew” She chuckled loudly, clearly as excited as I was. “Hey Agni, did you see him?” I asked quietly. “Yes I did, I could feel his wolf, but could not reach him in the dreamscape.” She replied. “We have a Mate.” I smiled, feeling very warm at the realization. Conrad POV I knew I was in the dreamscape, my wolf dragged me here, every night since I turned 18, I usually just pretended to sleep till I was. I lay listening to the creeks constant flow, my ears twitched, I thought I heard footsteps, but I’d looked up enough times to know, there was never anyone there. I huffed at my negativity and loneliness. “Hello?” I snapped my eyes open, I did not imagine that. The voice was soft through the mind-link. “Hello? Did I hear someone.” I replied cautiously. “Haha yes, look to your left, I’m here.” The voice replied cheerfully. My ears flickered, turning my head slowly to the left, my breath caught, the eyes that meet mine were a deep blue with golden centers and specks. My heart picked up pace, thudding against my rib cage, it felt like fire lighting in my chest and spreading through my veins. I got to my feet, never looking away, I’d waited so long for her. “Are you a friend of Agni?” She asked, I’d never meet another wolf in the dreamscape. “Is Agni your wolf? I’m sorry but I wouldn’t know her.” I reply,  shaking my head. “Then who are you? Are you my Mate?” She c****d her head in question. I smiled at her in a large display of teeth. “Yes I think I am, Mate.” The word was a spell, the feeling of confirmation spread through me. I heard her gasp as I did. With that one word, her scent of vanilla, caramel and coffee filled my nose, it was intoxicating. I stood across from her now, the only thing between us was the black creek, standing across from her our heights almost matched, though her build was slighter, she didn’t bare a single scar and her coat was the darkest shimmering black. “What’s your name mate?” She asked, the word sending a shivers through me, it felt right. I stood a little taller. “My name is Conrad and you?” I replied. “Mine is Ivy.” She replied, before asking. “Are you an Alpha?” I was surprised by her question. “Yes I am, what about you?” I returned curiously. “I’m not sure, I’ve never had a pack.” She shrugged. “Would you like one?” I ask my voice low and suggestive. “Maybe as the Alpha, I don’t play well under others.” She retorted, her voice laced with promise. I could stop the grin the spread across my features; I lowered my head in mock submission. I watch in satisfaction as she stares wordless.. Suddenly the forest began darkening, we lifted our heads to the sky in unison. My eyes turned pleading and frightened. “I’ll see you again soon Mate, I’ll find you I promise.” I’d assured her. When I woke I was back in my bed, It was late and dark, I didn’t bother turning the light on, I laid there soaking in the knowledge after a long wait, I’d finally found my Mate. My wolf Kon, had confirmed it to me, we both felt the pull towards her. I closed my eyes, my heart squeezing with excitement. I had a Mate.     Garretts POV I paced back and fourth, the boys had come running, hearing my excitement at the sound of Ivy’s voice, but had split after one look at my face when I hung up. She wanted me to go home? Move on and forget her? Because I hadn’t met my Mate and It wasn’t fair not to wait for them, they were our other half. I couldn’t shake the feeling that she was my other half. I would do anything she asked of me but to forget her? I didn’t think I could do that. I had to find her, if I asked her in person and she said the same I would accept it. But I couldn’t just leave it, I loved her, I was such a fool. I’d been travelling for almost 2 months now, and plenty of she wolves had given me eyes, but non of eyes were Ivy’s. I decided it was best to go to sleep, I stripped down to my boxers and slid in to bed, I was about to close my eyes when I felt a pain in my chest. My eyes flew open, my wolf Kona, whispered confirmation, the bond between Ivy and I had weakened, she’d discovered her mate. Instead of taking it as a sign, I promised myself there and then, I would find her and make her chose in person. I wasn’t leaving without a fight.
