Prologue
Have you ever been in love? If yes, then have you also been betrayed or broken by the person you loved? If your answer is in affirmative , then what is it about them that haunts you till date? You see, when a relationship comes to an end, the things that hurt us the most in the beginning are the recollections of the actual breakup and everything that went wrong between the START and the FINISH line; all the heated up fights, the abusive tones and the cold behaviors of our partners (or object of affection in case you never really went as far as a relationship).
But that memory fades, no matter how abusive the relationship was, no matter how painful the ending was, no matter what the reason for the breakup was, it all fades with time, and gives way to something even more disastrous- the good memories.
The first time you laid eyes on them, the sweet curve of their lips, that accidental brush of fingers against your hand, the playful fights, the midnight drives with windows down, listening to them playing their favorite song, the first time they said I love you- it all comes to your mind as soon as the barrage of the initial pain is broken down, and the outpouring of the sweet, redolent memories sweeps you off your feet and drowns you again.
But what if you removed the good memories and all that you had were the dark and painful souvenirs of your love, would you still hurt over it? Would you still call it love?
