Everyone but Anne gave up on the Oliver investigation, and Frank said that some of Mrs. Oliver’s Marine friends were already looking for another house. Anne, however, just kept plugging away. In the second week of April, she received a call from Mrs. Oliver’s bankruptcy lawyer, Sharon Steinberg.
“Anne, we have the discovery from Newport Financial,” Steinberg informed her. “Here’s what happened. Newport Financial purchased the note and mortgage from People’s Mortgage Company and wrote to Mrs. Oliver requesting proof of insurance. They had a right to do that under the loan documents. Mrs. Oliver never responded, and so Newport purchased a policy of insurance and wrote to Mrs. Oliver informing her that her monthly payments had
