Chapter 9 2000, 7 April 2004 Stateline Trucking Joliet, Illinois A week after his firing, Jeremy drew down his checking account to $500 and knew he had to do something. Since he wasn’t working, he had time to think about the killing of the Americans in Fallujah. One morning, he drove to the Armed Forces Recruiting Station on Michigan Avenue. By chance, he found a parking space next to the Marine Corps Recruiting Office and remembered the old veteran at the American Legion asking him if he was a Marine. He walked inside.
