All Ava ever wanted was peaceful life. Of course, who wouldn’t when they’ve been on the run their entire life. Ever since she was a baby she was sought after. Some wanted to destroy her while others wanted to use her. Though truthfully, it wasn’t even her they really wanted. What they truly wanted was her soul.

Chapter 1
"Hurry!" I hear a female voice shout at me. I instantly recognize it as the voice of my mother, Lydia. I rush deeper into the forest running from our latest hideout. I look back at my mother as she runs behind me to keep me safe. Her brown eyes wide with fear and her equally as brown hair raging behind her. "Don't look back keep going!" She yells panic lacing her voice. I look forward again, not knowing where we are going, but knowing I had to continue on. Our hideout had been a little wooden shack. It wasn't much, but it had protected us for a while. Now it's gone, consumed by flames and soon to be ashes. I suppose I should be used to this, but it still hurts. Running from place to place never being able to be happy for very long. Not ever able to have friends or relationships. My mother and I have been running from these...people for years now. They aren't even after my mother they just want me. They enjoy coming after my mother because she is helping me. They are evil and will take down anything in their paths. I just didn't realize how fast those monsters would find me. Why won't they just leave me alone? All of these greedy, selfish people. I just don't understand what they want anymore. All I know is that they want to kill me for something I can't give them. They would destroy the world with what I have. I don't even want it, but I won't let anyone get hurt because of me...because of my soul. We had been running for what felt like hours and me and my mother started to slow down. "Do you know where we are going?" I ask frightened by the darkness of the forest. My mother says nothing as we walk on. Knowing that she won't say anything if it might frighten me I drop it. We continue like this for a few minutes until we get to the edge of a clearing in the forest. "Are we going to stop for the night?" I question. Again she gives me no answer as she steps into the clearing. I follow her confused as to why she won't answer me. I look forward and see five shadows coming from the forest around the clearing the moon giving them an eerie glow. "Mom, what's going on?" I try asking her. Again, no answer. I slow down to begin backing away, but my mother quickly gets an iron grip on my wrist. I try to pull away from her, but she is too strong and pulls me forward. The closer we get, the more I struggle the more she tightens her painful grip on my wrist. We are too soon in front of the five shadows. My mother’s grip leaves my wrist and instead goes to the back of my neck as she pushes me down on the ground. I try to push myself up, but she shoves my face into the dirt with the grip on my neck. I shout out in pain knowing that my face would be bruised. "Here she is now give me what you promised!" My mother demanded the shadows. I hear something heavy thrown on the ground beside me. Her hand leaves my neck as she goes and gets it. I lift my head a bit and see that it is a duffel bag. She looks at me one more time our eyes connecting and I can see regret flash in her eyes before she looks away. "Leave you have what you want." I hear a male voice say. My mother looks up and nods and she begins to leave. I lift myself to a sitting position and just as I do a sword is at my neck. I glance up from the sword to turn to the retreating figure of the woman I called mother. "Why?" I yell as tears begin to run down my face. She stops for a moment not facing me as she says, "That's always the question, isn't it?" then she walks away into the forest. “Stand up!” A female voice yells. I slowly make my way to my feet the sword following my every move. My eyes stay on the ground my lips trembling, not with fear, but sadness and anger at the only person I thought I had left betraying me. “Let’s go” another whispers. We’ve been walking for hours. I don’t know where we are going, but I know it’s no where good. No one has said anything but I suppose they don’t need to. I’ve known my whole life, what people like them want from me. I now know my captures. I should have recognized from the five shadows before. These are the Dishonorables. They are a gang of some of the most powerful assassins ever known. They are known by their numbers one through five. There are rumors of a sixth, but no one knows for sure. As we have walked I’ve asked if they have names, but they would not tell me. They instead told me their numbers. “Can we please stop?” I ask desperately. “No.” Four Says . “Please I promise I won’t run or anything!” I exclaim. “I said no! Now be quiet before I make you!” Shouts Four. “Come on lets take a break guys. We’ve been walking for hours.” Two says. “As soon as we stop she’s gonna run off and you know it!” Three yells at her. “I swear I won’t try anything. It’s not like I have anywhere to run to anyway.” I say mumbling the last part. They look at each other then we all stop walking. “You try anything at all and it won’t end well for you.” Five whispers to me. I’m not a complete i***t. These assassins are way too paranoid. I sit down and stretch out my legs.
