Chapter one : heartbreak
Rina's eyes fluttered open to the soft morning light filtering through the curtains, casting a gentle glow on her bedroom walls. Stretching her limbs beneath the cozy comfort of her duvet, she reached out for her phone on the bedside table, intending to check the time. But as she swiped through her notifications, her heart plummeted at the sight that greeted her—a picture, a snapshot of betrayal that shattered her world into a million jagged pieces.
There, illuminated on her screen, was an image that seared into her mind with searing clarity—the image of her boyfriend, Jack, entwined in an intimate embrace with her coworker, Sarah. The shock hit her like a tidal wave, crashing over her in relentless waves of disbelief and hurt.
How could this be happening? Rina thought, her mind reeling with a million unanswered questions. She had trusted Jack with her heart, had believed in the sincerity of his love. And yet, here he was, betraying her in the most heart-wrenching way imaginable.
A bitter taste filled Rina's mouth as she fought back tears, her chest constricting with the weight of her emotions. She felt like she was suffocating, drowning in a sea of anguish and despair.
But amidst the pain, a steely resolve began to take root within her. She refused to be the victim in this sordid tale of infidelity. No, she would not allow herself to be reduced to a mere pawn in their deceitful game.
With trembling hands, Rina made a silent vow to herself—a vow to expose them for the liars and cheaters they truly were. She would not let them get away with their betrayal, not without a fight.
Gathering her strength, Rina pushed herself out of bed, her mind racing with plans and strategies. She knew that she had to be smart about how she handled this delicate situation. She couldn't afford to let her emotions cloud her judgment, not if she wanted to come out of this ordeal with her dignity intact.
As she went about her morning routine, Rina wore a mask of calm composure, determined to keep up appearances even as her world crumbled around her. She couldn't let anyone see the pain that gnawed at her insides, couldn't let them see how deeply she had been wounded.
When Jack emerged from the bedroom, his face wearing the guise of innocence, Rina forced herself to smile, to play the part of the oblivious girlfriend. She watched him carefully, studying his every move for any sign of guilt or remorse. But he was a master of deception, his facade unblemished by the sins he had committed.
It was then that Rina realized the extent of the betrayal—the depth of the deception that had been lurking beneath the surface all along. Jack wasn't just her boyfriend; he was also her boss, the man she had trusted to lead their team with integrity and honor. And yet, here he was, betraying her trust in the most egregious way imaginable.
As Rina lay in bed, her mind racing with turmoil, Jack stirred beside her, his arm reaching out to pull her close. “Good morning, beautiful,” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
Rina’s heart twisted at the endearment, a pang of guilt mingling with the anger and hurt. She wanted to scream, to lash out at him for his betrayal, but instead, she forced herself to respond with a strained smile. “Good morning,” she replied, her voice hollow with the weight of her emotions.
As they lay there in silence, Rina couldn’t shake the image of Jack and Sarah from her mind—the way they had looked at each other with such longing and desire. It made her sick to her stomach, filling her with a sense of betrayal that cut deeper than any knife.
But Jack seemed oblivious to her inner turmoil, his fingers tracing lazy circles along her arm as he spoke of their plans for the day ahead. He talked about work, about meetings and deadlines, his words washing over her in a blur of meaningless chatter.
And all the while, Rina struggled to keep up her facade, to pretend like everything was normal even as her world crumbled around her.
But Rina refused to let him see her pain, refused to give him the satisfaction of knowing how deeply he had wounded her. Instead, she plastered on a fake smile, nodding along as he prattled on about the day's agenda, his words ringing hollow in her ears.
As the day wore on, Rina found herself consumed by a burning desire for justice—a need to right the wrongs that had been done to her. She couldn't simply stand by and let them get away with their betrayal, not when so much was at stake.
And so, with a newfound sense of purpose, Rina set out to expose them for the frauds they truly were. Later, as Rina made her way to the office, she found herself face to face with Sarah—a woman she had once considered a friend, now nothing more than a traitor in disguise.
“Morning, Rina,” Sarah chirped, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “Isn’t it a beautiful day?”
Rina clenched her jaw, forcing herself to return the greeting with a tight-lipped smile. She could barely stand to look at Sarah, knowing what she had done, knowing the pain she had caused.
But Sarah seemed unfazed by Rina’s obvious discomfort, her gaze flickering over to Jack with a smug expression. “Did you hear?” she said, her voice laced with arrogance. “Jack’s promoting me to head of the department. Looks like all my hard work is finally paying off.”
Rina felt bile rise in her throat at the words, the injustice of it all burning like a fire within her. She wanted to scream, to tell Sarah exactly what she thought of her, but she held her tongue, knowing that she needed to bide her time, to wait for the perfect moment to strike. She began gathering evidence, documenting their illicit rendezvous with a meticulous attention to detail. She knew that she had to be careful, that one wrong move could jeopardize everything she had worked so hard to uncover.
But Rina was determined not to let fear hold her back, not when the truth was so close within her grasp. And so, she pressed on, her resolve growing stronger with each passing moment.
