Chapter 25: The battle in Steel Island (Part 1)

"A surprise attack? How did they know about this?"

I said as I dodge and battle some of the mages.

Looking around the area even Kuro is having trouble with them. Some of the adventurer with us are dead and mostly was injured. How did they know? Is there some kind of spy in the integrity knight?

Since I'm not really too fond of the integrity knight I barely trust anyone. The members are quite large and I don't have time to search for him in a time like this.

Flame skill: Flame s***h!

"I got this... Barrier!"

Alicia cast a barrier to block the attacks from above and after that, she cast healing magic to heal those people who were injured. Alicia got her specialty. She became a cleric type of adventurer. An adventurer that can heal and support its teammates.

On the other side. I guess no need to worry obout that overpowered i***t.

"Lightning punch! Lightning heavenly spear! Lightning chidori!"

Hanayuki continues beating up witch-cultist mages with her magic.

"What is with her magic pool? That's insanely huge for a little girl."

Said a witch-cultist mage.

"It can even rival masters magic."

"Stop talking! Lightning Punch!"

The punch landed straight to their face and knoking them out cold in the ground.

Hanayuki is not killing them, she is just knocking them out. she really has principles to hold.

"That one looks like an s-rank adventurer... How nice someone so powerful will arrive to entertain me."

The bulky guy appeared riding in a giant raven.

As I turn my glance at him I immediately notice that the guy at the top of the raven shares something similar to mine. With those red eyes and fangs he is also a vampire type, but how did he manage to stay in his form in intense sunlight.

"Using the witch cult grace I can go defy sunlight and unleashed my vampire power. With my immortal self, I will kill everyone who wlill destruct our plan."

Yuna makes a move and started to take care of the bulky vampire.

She summons a huge sword and controls it with her magic.

"Another S-ranker... How sweet of you to coe to me and die."

She threw the giant sword toward the vampire. The vampire guy dodges it and laughs hard.

"What is that slow attack."

"Sorry but it's teh end of you."

Yuna said seriously.

The giant sword breaks and becomes a chain to restrict the vampire. With his vampire strength, he should be breaking the chain but the chain was powered with holy magic and can't be break by dark beng type like a vampire.

"My magic was holy sword magic. I can create different kinds of swords with attributes of God."

"Chains aren't sword you bitch."

"Go and take a second look... It's a chain sword you can see the handle in my hand right. Vampires can be killed by holy magic... Im youre worse enemy..."

"You bitch."

"Holy sword."

Yuna created a sword and cut the bulky vampire head clean. The vampire's body started to fade in black smoke.

Yuna then turns her glare on me.

She really is terrifying.

Ranks define how powerful an adventurer is. Rank is classified into 5 tiers. There are the D-rank, C-rank, B-rank, A-rank, and lastly S-rank adventurer. D-rank adventurers are the lowest and S-rank is the highest.

Putting us in this rank. Hanayuki, Yuna, and Kuro are in the S-rank tier. I myself am in the A-rank tier because of my low magic attribute in the daytime. This mage that is currently in a battle with us is in the A and B-rank tier. Alicia was a support-type adventurer and her magic is quite vast. I don't really saw her fight but I think she is in between B-rank and C-rank.

The scenery of the Steel island started to look like some kind of battlefield with war.

The thief adventurer who ambushes us is in B-rank. 

And weird enough I can't remember his name.

"Ren it's a battle let's count who goes the many takedowns."

Said the thief.

"Who are you again?"

"Eh?! Are you serious? My name is Leon the guy that is second place to you and youre rival. And I just promoted to be in B-rank adventurer."

He replied in a furious tone.

"Rival? I don't remember having one."

"Youre cold one dude... Well, I don't hate that. I mean, rivals don't need to be friendly with each other... Hey! I'm not done talking yet."

I left him while talking and defeat some small fry mage in my range. As an assassin doing thing alone suit me best.

This Mage gathers and surrounds me. They blasted elemetal magic at the same time.

"Sound magic: Paralizing tone."

The witch cultist I targeted was stun in few seconds but that's enough for me.

"Sword skill: Full-moon s***h!"

The skill took damage toward the mage in 360 degrees in my radius.

Some big shot's started to appear.

Judging from their precense and aura that they emit. They are in S-rank adventurer. A middle age man, A young man, and a lady. They all got some kind of numerical mark on their face and their eyes are crimson red. Different from my eyes in vampire form.

The middle age man started to intimidiate us with his dark aura.

"This aura... There is no way... Those are demons."

Said Kuro.

"Demons?"

"It's not right to call us demon. We just use its power for our gain. We are still human. In other words, we are demo contractors. We made a demon contract to gain the power to make a witch-cultist dream came true."

Said the middle age man.

"For an old man saying those things are quite corny."

Said the young man.

"I thought we're going to battle the full force of red robe terrorist because we took 1st Captain life but I think some rats came to join play instead. Are you going full power for these rats [4]?"

Said the lady.

Kuro grip his sword tightly and became more aware.

Then I remember when we are discussing the plan for this raid. Kuro mentions some personel of the witch-cult. the number of personel is undermined. But accordin o information they are as strong as red robe terrorist captains.

Looking to the numrical mark. Thier name is [14], [21], and [24]. Those numbers indicate their name and their rank in the witch-cult.

"Space dimension s***h!"

The skill of Kuro attack [4] the middle age man. [4] cover his hand with dark aura and block it with his might.

"That skill is pretty impresive."

"I'm also impressed that a old man can stop my dimension slash."

Replied Kuro.

The battle started to get more intense.

The day of the Raid started and the Integrity knights were ambush on the shore at the moment they arrive. Many of the integrity knight's adventurer we're injured and killed. In such an unfortunate state. Three powerful demon contract users arrived on the shore.

"This young man has guts, I like his eye's... two of you wound you mind me having little fun with this fine man."

Said [4].

"That's fine buy us... Then don't cry if you don't get enough soul to feed your demon."

Replied [21] the young boy in demon contract user.

After hearing that the lady in the name of [9] laugh a little and said:

"Your quite arrogant [21] for someone who can't use his demon power in full potential."

[21] gave [9] a killing glare.

"... Scary... Do you want me to kill you [21] with these rats... Know your place..."

[9] fly off to another area on the battlefield.

[9] and [4] is a one-digit personnel and maybe one of the most powerful witch-cultist personnel. [4] got a liking to Kuro and their battle is beginning. Kuro is an expert in sword skill and he can use the four elemental spell and unique magic of space. Kuro has the ability to slice through dimension. That should be powerful enough to slice through anything. That's where the problem comes in. Kuro's space s***h was stopped by [4].

"Just what kind of demo contract did you have to stop a space slash..."

"Lesson from the old man. Don't ever reveal your secret... That might be the reason you lose."

"You have some point... but you sure like talking that makes me have the time I need. [Wind Magic: Giant bow of wind] + [Earth magic: Earth cannon] + [Water magic: Water serpent] + [Flame magic: Flame slamander]."

Kuro made all the preparation and cast his magic in a few minutes. Kuro is going all out in his battle with [4].

"Combo magic?"

The destruction level from Kuro's magic caught the attention of many adventurers and mage. [4] Use his dark magic to give the same amount of magic to block Kuro's attack.

The moment the black aura touches the magic. The magic was negated. The demon contract magic of [4] was to negate magic with his aura.

"That magic sure is powerful but it has no effect on me."

Kuro disappeared from the sight of [4].

Before water serpent and fire salamander was fully negated. Kuro makes flame and water collide and make steam of thick mist. Making a smokescreen in the battle.

"Where is the young man..."

From above Kuro appeared and smash his sword to [4] with full strength. [4] fell to the round with the smashing sound of the ground.

"Magic doesn't affect you. That means I just need to use my physical power."

Said Kuro.

Kuro is not called S-rank adventurer for nothing. As expected [4] is still standing and tough. Black aura envelop him and started to make a form of snake.

"Fascinating. You already expected that my ability was magic negating aren't you."

"Well, I expected that you're still standing. Space magic: Space teleport."

Kuro immediately appeared instantly behind [4] in the speed of light. [4] was a proud witch-cultist and quite veteran on the battlefield. If it's battle of speed [4] has his own strength to show with his snake he landed a bite and put a curse on Kuro. One of [4] magic was putting curse to an opponent. His curse makes the opponent magicless for the time being.

Without magic, Ren can't use his amazing spell and more importantly his space magic. being slow down by the curse [4] take the chance to attack and kill Kuro with the snake. The snake turns into a trident and when Kuro is about to be killed.

I gather all my flame and mage it to boost myself toward Kuro's position and use my sword to stop the trident.

"Flaming sword!"

"Nice timing Ren... You have my thanks."

Said Kuro and behind Kuro, Yuna shows up and activated her magic to bind [4].

"Chain sword: Binding!"

Like the vampire, Demon belongs to dark beings meaning they can't withstand the power of holy magic. [4] was confused after seeing that the negating magic ability he has is not affecting the chains created by Yuna.

"This light aura... Holy magic?" 

Said [4].

[9] and [21] notice the position of [4] but they don't care too much and let [4] swallow the next spell cast by Yuna. using divine Sword Yuna ended [4] long live life.

Before he completely dies.

[4] remember the happening in his past life before he became a cultist.

[4] or Walter is a man who once had a big dream a dream of being a hero. he train me and work hard when he was a child to attend a magic school to learn in using magic. Since all people were able to use magic. Walter is dreaming to learn magic that will make good for everyone.

Until he receives the grim words from his teacher.

"Sorry, Walter but you don't have magic in your body. Give up on your dream."

The teacher said to Water in a calm face.

Walter was so shocked by the word his teacher gave to him without even thinking how sensitive it is to Walter.

"It's rare but people like Walter do exist."

Muttered and rumors about Walter spread. he becomes a laughing stock.

One day.

A little girl is about to fall into a burning building. The girl is on three floors of the building and the firemen are on in the scene yet. Some people tried to use water magic to put off the flame but the flame still grows bigger.

Then Walter who wants to be a hero makes a move.

He gets a ladder and tried to save the little girl. Walter reach the third floor and said:

"Jump to my arms I will save you."

Said Walter, The little girl trust Walter.

Even with great intention sometimes reality will bite you down.

As the girl jump toward Walter's arms. Walter misbalance in the ladder and fell with the girl. In the end, Walter en up with some injuries but the saddest thing was the girl we tried to save was dead.

Apparently, the girl fell headfirst in from the third floor.

The family of the little girl was so angry. That also includes his family who disowned him after the accident.

Walter was given a punishment of execution.

Before the execution day came he met [1] the leader of Witch-cultist and make him became a witch-cult. He receives a demon power that negates the magic of others. He became a villain in the past years. Exactly opposite to the one he wanted to be.

"How could this happen to me? This is not what I wanted... You [1] you brainwashed me...."

Walter thought before he vanished and he saw a sight of a demon saying. "With the completion of the demon contract your soul will burn, suffer and soon to be eaten by me." Hearing the demons word. Walter panicked and in his eye's great despair is seen.

A dark aura started to eat [4]. The dark aura emitted horror sounds.

"What is with that sound?"

I asked Kuro and Yuna.

Yuna averted her eye's to and replied:

"That's the scream of hell... People who contracted a demon will pay a price. What a pitiful creature? Not even holy magic can save them... Wait?"

With lightning speed, Hanayuki came and created a sword with her lightning...

"It's not the end yet... Demon slaying art: Lightning roar."

Hanayuki cut Walter with her sword.

Walter started to felt warmth and a gentle breeze.

"Thank you."

Hanayuki saved Walter and cut the demon contract with the demon who is about to devour Walter. Kuro and Yuna can't believe what they saw.

'How did you do that Hanayuki?"

I asked.

"It's a demon skill my mother taught me... These past days I started to remember some of her memories. I guess traveling with you guys really help a lot. Especially when I met Lia. With her motherly warmth. I'm able to remember some of my mother's teaching. Apparently, my mother travels as a demon slayer before."

"You're so powerful"

"Gosh don't say it so loud."

Hanayuki said in flattering face.

At the moment I thought things are serious. Someone like you appeared. Hanayuki really make me a better person
