Chapter 26: The battle in Steel Island (Part 2)

After defeating [4], only two demon contract users remain on the shore. The demon contract users started to kill adventurers in Integrity knights. We can't let those things continue.

"Ren, Hanayuki I don't like those two. Could you defeat these two already?"

Said Alicia who is supporting the adventurers. With the support, she did many injured adventurers are ready to fight again. Hearing her request.

I guess I need to go too.

"Alicia our secret plan."

I said.

The two demon contract users then got scared in our form.

"What is with those two? Demon skill: shadow hand!"

[9] demon skill was controlling the dead in other words necromancy and [21] demon skill are controlling a hundred arms from his back. Because of the fear they felt. They go all out and directly attack us.

After we defeated the three demon contractors. The mages of the witch-cult started to disappeared after we defeated the three demon contractors. The casualty and loss resulted from the witch-cult surprise attack are pretty big. We lost 20 comrades and 14 injured adventurers. Those injured are currently treated by Alicia and other Healers.

With the help of the other adventurer, we make a hideout far from the shore and there we rest and gain our magic. Kuro used lots of magic and currently resting in one of the tents. The ISland is pretty wide and with the help of some warding magic, the hideout is completely invisible from the sight of an outsider.

This barrier that surrounds the hideout we mad kinda reminds me of the hideout of the dragoons before in Celest. Also, that reminds me of the grim fate of Dragoons and the traitor Lucas and Pithon who is still alive.

I'm currently outside of my tent looking in the papers handed by Kuro. It contains the geography of the island and some information about the demon contractors. Apparently many demon contractors or "Numbers" are killed when they caught Hikari.

It somewhat makes me relief knowing we only got to face a few of them but also worried knowing that Hikari already tainted her hands. Hikari that I knew is pure and innocent. With many years that I'm not on her side. Many things might happen. In an unavoidable event, Hikari did kill someone.

I grip my hand with anger to myself. Remembering back in the days. I trained myself to protect Hikari from bad guys but now still I can't protect her. I must do my best and make my promise come true.

"Hikari."

"Ren there you are. What's with a scary face your making. Your eyes are scary."

Hanayuki said.

"It's nothing... Where is Alicia?"

"She is currently resting, she may be royalty with a huge pool of magic but royalty also got her limit."

Well, Looking back earlier she did her best to protect and support the adventurers. At the first meeting, she was this arrogant girl because she was royalty. But now she decided to make her own path and live the way she wanted. in a short time, she changes so much.

Turning my glance toward Hanayuki I notice that we became so close like best friends at this point. We always test to have some kind of relation but I never saw her as a romantic interest and she never thinks I'm a romantic interest. But this past month. I grew to learn and feel not lonely anymore.

My revenge disappeared like a bubble and replaced by the hope that I will see Hikari again.

The reason why the general killed Hikari is obvious now. General Feared the power of the Witch or the child of Darkness that might take over Hikari's body. He was the leader of Red robe terrorist but I never notice his doing since then.

Then, what is his reason for being a terrorist? That kinda bothers me. But it's not important anymore.

A guy with a hammer came and talked to Hanayuki.

"Hanayuki-san here is your request."

He said.

Hanayuki was delighted and happy upon seeing what's in the man's hand. It's a short white sword. Hanayuki happily gets it from his hand and swings it all around in a dangerous way.

The man and I dodge her swings.

"What are you doing?! You i***t!"

I shouted.

"Sorry sorry I became excited... Thank you... what's your name again?"

"That makes me sad but my name is Dreg."

"Thank you Drag-san."

"It's Dreg the blacksmith."

The man leaves Hanayuki with some silver coins in his hand. Hanayuki did pay him to make the sword.

I didn't know we got blacksmith with us.

"Look, Ren... This sword is made with Lacrima and it's a good conductor of magic. I can transfer my magic in this sword."

"Why did you bother to get a sword? You can create one with lightning magic."

I asked.

"You don't get it... Real things are better. It's better to use a real sword. This way I can do demon-slaying art in a less magic-consuming way."

"I guess even you got limits in using magic."

"Of course, I am... I'm not royalty and I'm not overpowered cheat level adventurer."

Hanayuki said and jump in joy.

"I gain another ability, you're amazing. I think I can also make it with my flames."

I pulled my sword and use my flame. I copy what Hanayuki did and I blasted a beam of blue flame.

"It did work that blue flame is very strong."

I said with amazing eyes.

It used little magic and very powerful. I can use myself against that witch-cultist.

"Thank you Hanayuki."

"Eh? But I never do anything?"

"Nope, you did a lot for my growth."

"Did you grow taller?"

"Nope, but... Umm, you're an i***t aren't you?"

"You're thanking me then insulting me? What's wrong with you."

Hanayuki angrily protested to me.

After that, we eat our share of meals from Integrity knights and prepared ourselves for the next step of the Integrity knights raid.
