Chapter 56: Peaceful days

One month has passed, after the tragedy in Asakusa City. Many people lost their lives and the whole city almost erased from the map.
Looking back to the happening, I started to realize how weak I am. Many people in this world are far stronger than me.
The flames in my sword got weaker. I can’t feel it anymore. Unlike those times I use to kill people and burn them to ashes. These flames got weaker and weaker.
Every time, I remember Hanayuki this flame is getting weaker and weaker.
I lost my battle in Asakusa, I lost to the girl with the same face as Hanayuki. I’m still lucky that I have high resistance to flames and I can regenerate because I’m a half-vampire. If I’m not, I think I’m already in ash.
“Ren… What are you thinking? It seems very deep.”
The one who asked that is the girl beside me and the girl I wanted to protect for the rest of my life. The golden-haired girl named Hikari.
We’re currently having a date in the small village of Eris. The scenery is at its best. The air feels great and the people are very nice.

Hikari give me a donut.

Hikari then takes a bite from her donut and looks at the people fishing in the lake.
I then gently comb her hair.

Today, Hikari can live as a normal girl like the others. She is not a part of the red robe terrorist anymore, because the goal of the red robe terrorist is already full filled by Princess Yusael.
A not long time ago, Yusael’s father king Arthur die of a mysterious disease. Making her take over the whole kingdom as it is the ruler. Many nobles dislike her because she is not the eldest among the siblings, but according to the will, her father left. She who has accomplished most of the princess trial is the one who will inherit the throne.
Yusael as the new king of the kingdom decided to make a kingdom with one ruler. Making her words absolute. Nobles who committed crimes are punished immediately.
The kingdom of peace and laughter she wanted started to become real.
Now the world became much better than before.
“That guy over there is so handsome.”
Hikari said.
I quickly use my hands to cover Hikari’s eyes.
“Don’t look.”
“Why?”
“What if you fall in love with him? What should I do?”
I said.
“I’m just kidding… Your so cute when you worried about that kind of stuff.”
I started to blush I look away.
“This is nice, we’re not bound by anything anymore. We don’t have enemies and we can live at peace. We can start our dream now like what we promised when we are still little. Let’s go and tour the world together.”
“You’re right, I will be with you and protect you while you’re traveling. I know let's go to Pearl city and swim on those beautiful beaches or maybe in Vinebark City they said they have a colorful farm there.”
“Nope, we're going to the north first in Snowpoint city and make a snowman.”
Hikari said and smile.
Having a conversation like this with the person you like is really making my heart flutter.
The atmosphere is really great. I wanted to make this feeling last forever. This feeling that I’m not alone anymore.
Ever since I started my revenge this loneliness, is always a bottle in my heart. Now that I’m with her this feeling started to fade like a bubble.
I turn my glance to Hikari and stare.
Hikari did the same and look at my face.
I turn my eyes to her lips and she moves forward.
Our lips made a contact and we kissed each other.
After the date, Hikari and I go to the shopping mall and buy some food and stuff. We’re now living together in a house I rented in Celest. The house is not that big and not that fancy. Still, I’m very grateful that Hikari likes it.
Currently, I’m still working as an adventurer and one of the knights assigned in Celest city. Meanwhile, Hikari is doing her best on being a clothes designer.
Last time, I bought her a sewing machine as a present and love her smile at that moment.
We arrive at our house and started making dinner.
“Let's have pork stew this time. Do you like it?”
“Anything you made is good.”
I said and hugged Hikari from behind.
“Don’t hug me right now, I can’t focus. Don’t worry I will give you lots of hugs later.”
She replied.
I sat down on the floor and wait for the dinner to finish.
And I started to think about what happened to Hanayuki. It’s been so long since I last see her. Her smile and her fried chicken obsession.
“Where is Hanayuki right now?”
“Hanayuki? You mean that girl with you before… they said she is now traveling.”
“I knew that, but still I miss her, she is like my best friend and she is the one who changes me when I’m at my lowest back then.”
“Then I should be grateful to Hanayuki. She changes you to become a better person.”
I nodded in agreement.
The food is done and we enjoy eating while watching our favorite night show. We laugh together and eat together.
This time is the most precious in my life.
While eating I happened to turn my glance to my sword. My sword is just displaced in the wall and I never drew it ever since the tragedy in Asakusa City.
I started to have a feeling that I don’t need it anymore. That sword is just my tool for revenge.
“Hikari, what happened to General Jin?”
I asked because I’m curious about what happened to him. He's the one who started my despair. Even though I already forgive him. I still what to know more about him.
“General Jin committed suicide. Even though his goal is full-filled and the evil nobles are gone, he killed himself. That’s why the red robe terrorist was disbanded. I think he feels like all he did is for nothing. He has a dream of this peaceful country by using his power but in the end, it’s princess Yusael who did it without his help. He feels miserable and useless in the end.
“I see, he's gone.”
“I really feel bad about it. He treats my wounds and treats me like a daughter. I’m really sad when he dies.”
We then finished eating dinner. After that, we wash our bodies and brush our teeth before going to the bed. We lay down to the bed and hold each other's hands.
Hikari and I get to have a small chat before both of us fell asleep.
On the next day.
Hikari and I go to our respective workplace early in the morning.
Now for some reason, Scarlet summon me to her office.
“Good morning Ren.”
“Good morning Miss Scarlet.”
I replied.
I then look around and saw Yusael whose having her delightful tea in her hand.
“Good morning princess.”
“I’m already the king you know… I’m going straight to the point now Ren. I need your help as a knight. There was a dragon whose about to attack this country soon. We need experienced adventurers like you to fight it. This dragon was immune to any elemental magic. We need able users like you to do the job. Your flame is unlike the flame from fire magic. Your flame can burn anything into ashes.”
“You want me to burn that dragon to ashes with my ability.”
“You’re so sharp, that’s why I decided to give you this role.”
Yusael said.
“Don’t worry Ren, if your flames didn’t burn it. Our new dragoon squad will offer their assistance.”
Scarlet said.
This dragon will come to attack the country In few days.
“Then how about Glenn, Glenn has the anti-magic ability I’m sure it will be useful in negating the dragon’s magical power.”
I suggested to the princess, but the princess averted her eyes away from me.
“Speaking of Glenn, there is a rumor that he's becoming mentally unstable. He keeps on saying that this world and will save a girl named Yuki. He even made a move to the princess and try to kidnap her.”

Glenn became a real criminal and he escapes. I know that he is really in love with Yusael but his take thing too far.
Too bad, I wanted to eat with him and drink sometimes. With this happening it’s possible that it’s not going to happen anymore.
“Let’s put the bulkiness on the side. I know that you’re working hard right now Ren… That’s why I give you this ticket for the vacation package. The dragon will invade two weeks from now. You can use this ticket to enjoy traveling with Hikari in the meantime.”
Yusael walked to me and hand over the ticket.
I really happy because traveling is what Hikari really wanted to do in life.
“Hikari will be pleased.”
“That’s all that I can for now. I will then take my leave.”
Yusael said and leave the office.
The sun goes down and the night came.
I go home with a smile and tell Hikari the good news. Hikari was really happy.
This is really perfect because Hikari and I were really tired and need some rest. Having a vacation in a hot spring will be nice. I will cure my stiff shoulders and refresh myself.
Hikari was so excited she started packing her things already.
She’s so cute when she’s like this.
Thinking about it this will be the first vacation we will ever have since were separated. I wanted everything to be memorable.
The day of the vacation came and we visit a hot spring, we enjoy the hot spring, play ping-pong, drink so milk, and enjoy the starry view of the midnight sky.
After visiting the hot spring we decided to go and have shopping and visit a shrine to pray and thank god for the blessing we receive.
While walking downstairs.
“Take care of you’re mission.”
“You already know about it…”
Hikari nodded.
“... I wanted to tell you later, but I don’t have to that anymore I think. A dragon will attack the country and they need my assistance. The whole dragoon squad and the knights in the kingdom will take part. No need to worry about it. I will come back with sovereigns.”
I said to put Hikari at ease.
I’m also worried about my safety. I wanted to stay with her side. I wanted to live at peace with her.
That’s why I have to do my best and live. Just like those words she said to me these past years.
