If I’d ever had a live-in boyfriend before, maybe I would’ve seen the signs earlier. This was my first time, though, and I went into it positive that it was love ever after, so it took coming home at three in the afternoon and opening the door to an array of moving boxes to realize it was over.
“Shawn? What’s going on?”
He came out from the bedroom, carrying another box. “Hey.”
“Shawn.” I kicked one of the boxes.
He set down the one he was carrying. “Yeah, um. I’m moving out.”
“What the f**k?!”
“I, uh, got a new job. In Las Vegas.”
