Chapter Sixteen

A few hours later, Attica was ready for her big day. She had on a beautiful wedding gown with red trim and a long train. Her beautiful red hair was put up in a bun with a crown on her head and the vail was on her head. Her makeup was perfect. The dress covered up her pregnancy so no one that did not know she was pregnant would know now. Her bride's maid was ready and beautiful. Jasper's sister, Marion was dressed in a lilac gown that was like a mermaid dress. It had of course the red tie on it. They hugged each other and then they heard the music start.

Marion opened the door to her brother, Palmer there to walk her down the aisle. Mr. Baker was also there to walk Attica down the aisle. Attica smiled at her father. She was glad that he was well enough to do this for her and to be apart of this special day when he was going to give up a few months back. She walked with her father down the aisle. She looked up to see Jasper in his tuxedo and smiling with tears in his eyes. She smiled back at him. She could not believe that she was actually getting married to her best friend today. Just then she felt a tug on her arm. She looked over at her father. His eyes rolled up in the back of his head and he fell down pulling Attica with him.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and ran to him and Attica. Attica looked at her father. She was crying. He was unresponsive and not breathing. Attica started CPR on him and yelled for someone to call an ambulance. Just then, Attica had a sharp pain in her stomach. She grabbed her stomach. And then looked down to see her wedding dress was soaked. She knew then that her water had broken and this was the warning that was to occur. But, she did not stop working on her father regardless of the pain she was feeling. She would not let anyone know that she was in labor three months early. The paramedics showed up and put her father on the stretcher. Attica tried to go with them but they would not let her. Her mother went instead. Her father was breathing again thanks to her.

Jasper grabbed Attica and then he felt the wetness on her gown. He looked at her in shock. "Did your water break?" Attica looked at him. She could not tell him due to her father was more important right now. "Look I am going to go change and then we are going to the hospital for my father." She then turned to everyone and announced, "I am so sorry everyone for having to cancel today. We are going to the hospital to be with my father. I want to thank everyone for coming and I am sorry for it to end like this. We will contact everyone and let you know when we will be rescheduling it." Everyone left and Attica walked up to her room to change her clothes.

Jasper and herself got into the car and headed to the hospital. Jasper was watching Attica out of the corner of his eyes. He knew something was going on with her but she would not tell him due to her being more worried about her father. "Attica are you okay? Are you going to tell me why your dress was wet?" Jasper looked at Attica waiting for an answer. "Nothing is going on Jasper. I might have peed on myself when I feel on my father. Nothing else. We just need to be with my father." "Okay Love, but you wouldn't be lying to me just because you rather be with your father, would you?" Attica just ignored Jasper and focused on the road. Attica then got another contraction that was stronger then the others and she grabbed her stomach again. "Love, what is wrong? Are you having contractions?" Attica ignored Jasper and just focused on the road. "We need to find out what is going on with my father so hurry up." That was all Attica would say to Jasper.

When they got to the hospital, Attica could barely walk being in pain too much from the contractions. Jasper got her a wheelchair. "Hello miss, My fiancé is six months pregnant and she is in labor. Her water broke and she is having contractions. She needs to be admitted." Jasper told the nurse at the desk. "No, Jasper I am fine. I need to see my father. I am not in labor and my water didn't break. Jasper, are you listening to me?" Jasper ignored her and talked to the nurse. "Her father was brought in by ambulance. She is more worried about him to think about what is going on with herself. Please just help her." The nurse nodded and took Attica to her own room. "Jasper....Jasper, what are you doing? I need to see my father." Attica was stressed. "You need to relax and calm down. You are hurting your babies by being stressed. Your father is fine and is in good hands. Now you need to think about your babies. I am going to take you to be examined and make sure the babies are fine. Then, if you are not in labor, we will release you to see your father. Your health is important as well as your babies health."

Attica sat there in silence as she was wheeled to her own room. The nurse was right. Jasper was right and he was right by her side this time. Attica changed her clothes to the gown once she got into the room. The doctor came in and checked her out. "Your water broke and you are five centimeters dilated. I am sorry to tell you that you are in labor and going to have these babies today. But, I am going to get an ultrasound technician in here to check on the babies to make sure they are not too small and they will make it. If they are not, I am going to try to give you some medicine to slow your labor down but you will still half to deliver these babies today due to your water broke. But, we will do whatever we can to make sure that you and your babies come out healthy and strong."

A few minutes later the ultrasound technician came in and checked out the babies. They were only three pounds each but they were healthy and everything had been fully developed. So they may be premature but they were healthy and would make it. So the doctor came back in. "Okay your babies are healthy and will make it through being born. So I am going to check on you and see how dilated you are now. It shouldn't be much longer before you will be delivering your babies. You are eight centimeters dilated. I'm going to get everyone in here so we can begin in about thirty minutes." Attica was scared. But, Jasper was there holding her hand. "My love, it's going to be okay. The doctor said the babies are healthy. So, we will be okay and then you will get to go see your father." Jasper kissed Attica on the forehead. He then texted Ms. Baker and his parents about Attica being in labor and giving birth soon.

Thirty minutes later, the doctor came in with the nurses. He checked Attica to see if she was fully dilated yet. Attica was at ten centimeters. "Okay Ms. Baker, you are fully dilated so you should be ready to push on your first contraction. When I tell you to push, push. When I tell you to stop, stop. Do you understand?" "Yes, sir." Attica responded. Jasper was holding Attica's hand strongly and right there with her every step of the way. Attica was grateful that he was there and did not miss this. Attica felt a contraction coming. "Okay, Attica, push." The doctor stated. Attica pushed even though she was in pain she used all her strength to push. When the contraction stopped, she stopped. She breathe and rested till the next contraction which was in seconds. She then pushed again. "Okay Attica, we have a head coming. Keep pushing. Here is the shoulders. Let's keep pushing." The doctor grabbed the baby and Jasper watched his child come out. He had tears in his eyes. "Attica, the baby is beautiful. This is the most beautiful thing to see in the world." The doctor pulled the baby the rest of the way out. "Okay the baby is out. You can rest and stop pushing. It's a girl. You both have a beautiful girl." Jasper kissed Attica. "We have a beautiful baby girl. You are doing wonderful love."

Attica then felt another contraction coming. "Okay, Attica. It's time to push the other baby out. You ready? I need you to start pushing." Attica started pushing. When the contraction stopped, she stopped and rested. The contraction started again and she started pushing again. "There is the head. Keep pushing Attica. Here comes the shoulders. Okay, the baby is almost out. I am going to pulled it the rest of the way out. You can rest now." The doctor told Attica. Jasper looked at the baby. "Its a boy. It's our son. Attica you were great. We have both our son and daughter. They are both strong and healthy. You did beautiful, love. I love you so much." Jasper kissed Attica deeply. He then went over to the babies and watched them get weighed and washed. Attica then felt weak.

"We need to get her to surgery quickly. She is hemorrhaging. Sir, you need to move. We need to put her in surgery now. She is loosing too much blood." The doctor told Jasper. They wheeled Attica down the hallway to the surgery room. Jasper watched with shock on his face. He didn't know what to do. So, he called his parents. They were already on their way to the hospital when he called. They were in the lobby. They sat with Jasper waiting to hear the news about Attica. Was she going to make it? Or was he going to be a single father and he going to loose the love of his life?
