A few days later it was the big gender reveal party for Attica and Jasper. Attica had worked so hard on making sure this party was ready. This was also the big day to reveal the pregnancy to both her and Jasper's parents. Jasper was to be at the party but due to the job, he had to take a meeting out of town and was hoping to be back in time. Attica's phone rang and of course it was Jasper. She knew he was not going to make it today even though he promised to be there. Attica answered the phone, "good morning babe. Let me guess you will not be back for the party?" "No love I will not. I am so sorry. The meeting was held longer and so there is not a flight back home until this evening. I want you to video chat me because I do not want to miss the gender reveal of our child. Can you please do that for me?" Attica sighed. "Yes Jasper I will if I can. Just be safe coming home. I love you. bye." Attica hung up the phone. She was getting frustrated with Jasper not making it to the most important things that he should be there for but at the same time, she knew that he had to work with the company to keep it going for them.
Attica showed up ready for the big celebration. She was welcomed by her parents and Jasper's parents. She hugged them all and gave them a quick peck on the cheek. "Attica, where is Jasper? I thought we were celebrating your engagement?" Her mother asked. "Jasper was held out of town so he will not be able to make it. But, we are not going to cancel the celebration. Everything looks great so why don't we get it started?" Attica stated and then walked up to the stage. Of course she was now showing a little and it was hard for her to hide it now. But, of course no one has even said anything to her. Attica grabbed the mic and then started to speak, "Hello everyone and thank you all for coming to celebrate. I apologize that Jasper will not be with us this afternoon but we are not going to allow this to stop us from this celebration. First thing that I am going to ask is for both my parents and Jasper's parents to come up to the stage. I have a surprise for them."
Mr. and Mrs. Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Baker got on stage. Attica handed each of them a small box. "Now, this is a celebration of course but Jasper and I have told everyone that it was an engagement party. That is actually not what we are celebrating today. Now if the parents will open their boxes, we have a special surprise inside them for each of you." They all opened the box to find a ultrasound picture taped the to top of the box and a little rattle inside. They had shock and surprise on their faces and they were all happy. "So, I'm assuming that the parents know now what this party is about? Congrats to each of you due to you all are going to be grandparents in five more months. And today we are doing the gender reveal party." They all looked at Attica in shock and went and gave her a big hug.
"So, I have a cake that is going to be coming out and I will cut a piece out. That piece is going to reveal if the baby is a boy or a girl. If the cake is blue, it's a boy. If the cake is pink, it's a girl. Is everyone ready to find out? Let's bring the cake out." The cake was pushed out and Attica walked over to it. "Now this envelope is the original envelope that is from the doctor's office stating the results so in case the bakery messed up, it will confirm it." Attica cut the corner piece of the cake, but was stopped by a shouting from the back of the room. "STOP...STOP..." Attica looked up to see Jasper running from the back of the room. She smiled. He made it somehow. Jasper came running up besides her and kisses her. "I am so sorry I am late but I did not want to miss this. I made sure I ran to get back here. Have you seen the piece?" "No, babe I just cut the cake. Why don't you lift it up to see what it is?" Attica told Jasper. He smiled at her.
Jasper lifted the piece of cake to reveal a layered cake where the bottom half was blue and the top half was pink. They both looked at it and then at each other in shock. "Maybe the baker had messed up... why don't we open up the envelope to see what it states." Attica says looking at Jasper. She hands him the envelope. He opens it up and pulls the paper out. He reads it in the mic in front of everyone. "Ms. Baker, here are your results on the gender of your baby. Congratulations you are having twins. There is a boy and a girl." Jasper looked at Attica. "Did you know?" "No, I did not. This is a shock and surprise to me." Everyone was excited and surprised.
"So, I guess this was a surprise for everyone today. Everyone is welcome to come get some cake and enjoy the party. We thank you all for coming and sharing this wonderful part of our lives and we look forward to seeing everyone in two months at our wedding." Attica spoke to everyone. Then she walked off the stage. She went around the room giving hugs and kisses to everyone. Thanking everyone for coming. Jasper was by Attica's side through it all. She was happy for him to be there and not to miss it. Attica and Jasper walked over to their parents who hugged them both and congratulated them both on their babies. Ms. Baker and Ms. Adams were happy to know that they were going to be grandmothers. They were more excited then Mr. Baker and Mr. Adams. Of course, Mr. Baker had already known about it but no one knew that he knew.
The party ended in a couple of hours and then everyone went home. Jasper and Attica talked on the way home. "So, we are having twins, huh?" Jasper looks at Attica. "Yes, I guess we are and we are having one of each so everything is going to be okay. Are you excited to hear the news?" "Yes, love. I love them whether it was just one, two, or more. They are our children and we are going to love them in the end. Are you happy about it Attica?" "Yes, babe. I am just surprised because no one told me this. I am just wondering if it's a mistake. I half to call the doctor on Monday to confirm this because I just do not understand why they have not said anything to me about it sooner." Jasper nodded. "Okay love, do whatever you need to do. I love you and I am so sorry for being late." "It's okay just glad to see you there. I am so happy you were. That was a wonderful surprise."
