Chapter 10

1529 Words
"The bath is ready. You need my help getting in?"     "No thank you I'm fine." I don't look at him as I get out of the bed. My legs are still sore, but I can manage. He looks at me with raised eyebrows, not saying anything. Avery steps out the doorway allowing me to pass. I know I'm moving like a snail, so I pick up the pace, probably not going nowhere fast.     "You love being naked, huh?" he questions.     "As you said earlier, you've already seen me so why cover up." I enter the bathroom closing the door. I dip my foot in the tub, testing the water. It's hot, but not too hot. I sink my entire body in the tub and relax.     You'll hate yourself if you sleep with him. Vicky's words are still running wild in my mind and I hate it. The longer I sit in and think about it, the more upset I get at myself for allowing this to happen. Having s*x with a complete stranger, living with a complete stranger—everything is just a mess. But I want intimacy so bad I’m willing to ignore all the red flags at the moment.     "Hey Avery?" He knocks on the door lightly. Why couldn't he just be a normal average guy? Not one that sleeps around with so many girls. No, I shouldn't assume he does sleep around, but it's hard not to.     "What?"     "Can I come in?"     "For what?"     "Are you going to answer my questions with questions every time?" He yawns. I pull the shower curtain closed and then call out, he can come in. I'm not a shy person when it comes to my body, but I just need to be a little more cautious with him. I already did enough.     The shower curtain pulls back, and I come face to face with his p***s. I quickly cover my face. This guy is crazy for sure. Or better yet he loves to make me uncomfortable.     "Avery, you need to put some clothes on."  I peek through my fingers, catching a glimpse of his semi-hard member. I close my legs, trying to keep myself in check.     "I'm coming in." He announces and I drop my hands.     "What? Why?"     "I wanna soak too and besides this tub can fit at least three people max. Just close your eyes and relax, you won't even know I'm here." He sinks into the tub beside me.     I tune his presence out and lean back closing my eyes. I'm seriously in the twilight zone, I'm in the tub with a complete stranger, yet I feel comfortable. I probably hit my head on something last night, hard. Or I’m completely dickmatized.     "Do you believe in the Stockholm Syndrome thing?" I ask not thinking nor do I open my eyes to see his facial expression.     "I'm not holding you hostage." He says. "You're always free to go whenever. We're just roommates."     "I'm not saying you are. I was just asking." Now I open my eyes and look his way, but his eyes are closed and there is a small smile on his face.     "In a way I believe in it. Don't tell me you are falling for me already." He opens his eyes and I look away. His wet hand, touches my face, turning my attention back to him. "Don't over think what's going on between us. It's only day two."     He leans over capturing my lips with his. Slowly he pulls me over until I'm straddling him, deepening the kiss. His hands rest at my waist, pulling me closer to me. I run my fingers through his hair, loving the way this is feeling. His tongue darts into my mouth and I moan. I break the kiss leaning my head back and Avery slowly places kisses down my neck his tongue skims my skin ever so lightly after every kiss. I let him take his time bringing me to a cloud nine with just his mouth. My chest is falling dramatically as he kisses across my collar bone from side to the next.     "You're so beautiful, mi zorra."     I look at him and give him a genuine smile. No one has ever called me a vixen before. My ex-would tell me just the opposite, I guess that's why he cheated—I really don't know. When he and I did argue, I was always called uptight, spoiled brat sometimes even a selfish judgmental b***h. I would always tell myself Chris called me those names because he was upset and didn't mean it, right?     "What's the matter? Did I say something wrong? Please don't cry." Avery looks at me confused. I lift my wet hand to my face, wiping away the tears that betrayed me. "Look if you don't want to do this, I won't force you. I get plenty of p***y to force anyone."     I chuckle sarcastically. "Great choice of words there. Then you won't care if this one leaves." I use his shoulders to help me stand and get out the tub. The cool air wraps around my naked body, sending goosebumps everywhere. I hear Avery climb out the tub and we reach for the same towel.     "This one is mine." I look up at him and he is glaring at me, his jaw tense.     "Well, I reached for it first." I snap.     "The walk to the bedroom isn't that far." he adds, wrapping the towel around his waist.     "Seriously, what is your problem?" I snatch the towel off his waist, wrapping it around my body.     "I should be asking you that question. One minute you’re fine next you are cold and distant. I thought that was supposed to be my job, but if you want to take on the whole I want you now I don't want you role...you can have it." he opens the bathroom door strolling out, leaving me to look at myself in the mirror. I take a deep breath before rushing out after him.     I wasn't the same Avery when I was with Chris. I don't want to be that Avery anymore. I just don't want to be hurt again. I don't think I can make it through another heartbreak. I walk into our room and see he is patting himself dry with another towel. My eyes follow the towels every move. His body is a crime, and I don't think anyone should be this good looking. His tattoos, covering his body is just a bonus.     "You can take a picture." he mumbles tossing the towel into the corner. I hold his gaze and drop my towel slowly, my n*****s harden, and I bite down on my bottom lip. "What are you doing?"     "I want you." I whisper.     He shakes his head and I flinch slightly at his rejection. "You don't know what you want and you're not going to drive me crazy trying to figure it out." I stand still watching him get dress. "The whole roommates with benefits, I don't think we should move forward with that anymore. I'll crash on the couch or my friends' place for a while."     You know that feeling you get when your heart tightens, and the world feels like its crashing down. Well that's exactly how I feel, and I know I shouldn't, but I do. I pick up my towel and head to the closet, taking a deep breath.     "Yeah, you're right. Roommates with benefits is a bad idea." I put on my fake façade that I used with Chris after every argument. It helps me through it. Pretending everything is fine.     "You know..." I block out whatever he is saying and get dress. I need to make another Target run for no apparent reason. I walk out the closet and he is still there talking. "Is that alright?" he asks, and I just nod my head. I don't know what I just agreed to and I don't care at this point. Vicky's words are ringing clear and true, but for many different reasons then the one she thought.     "Well, you have a good day Avery. I gotta run." Grabbing my keys, I slam the apartment door. "Asshole." I mumble to myself.     "Hey Avery, is it?" I look up surprised to see Eric from last night.     "Yeah, nice seeing you again." I smile. "What are you doing here?"     "Avery, the other Avery." he scratches the back of his neck. "He said he wasn't feeling well and was staying in today. Just checking to make sure he is alright. We kind of have this tradition every Sunday with the guys and for him to be this sick to not come—that's a big deal." He explains.     "Oh, well I think he should be feeling better. Nice seeing you again. I gotta run." I give him an awkward thumbs up and rush downstairs. Avery made it clear what he wanted out of this bizarre situation and that's me staying far away from him and I will add his friends to that too. Vicky and Shay are really the only two I need.
