My worst enemy would stop at nothing to have me.
On my wedding day, he stormed into the hotel, injected me with a drug, and abducted me. When I lost my memory, he lied and told me we were in love.
For the first 5 years of our marriage, he barely left my side. Anything I wanted, he gave me.
In the sixth, he grew bored.
That Halloween, he and his friends threw a party at his family's old mansion. When thunder rumbled late that night, I instinctively went looking for Marcus Blackwood.
From the doorway, I saw him with his arms around the new assistant at his company. He'd mentioned her once, saying she reminded him of me when I was younger.
Paige Shaw nestled against his chest, playing with the ring on her finger.
"Marcus, you gave her your wedding ring?" someone teased. "Aren't you afraid your wife will find out and make a scene?"
Marcus kissed Paige's red lips.
"Let her. Where's she going to go?" he said casually. "I thought she was out of my league. Turns out, once you've had her, she's nothing special."
I pushed the door open. The laughter stopped.
Shock flashed across Marcus's face, and he instinctively released Paige. "Vivian? What are you doing here?"
Paige paused, then got up from his lap, caught my hair in her fist, and grinned.
"Oh, it's the wife. Mr. Blackwood doesn't have time for you. He says he's going to take me all night. You're welcome to watch, if you don't mind."
Everyone gasped.
Marcus merely smirked at me, as though he were waiting for me to beg him for help.
I paid him no mind. I pulled the knife from my pocket and drove it into Paige's palm.
Her scream echoed through the mansion.
"Sorry," I said with a sneer. "I do mind."
What Marcus didn't know was that I was pregnant. The hormonal changes had undone the effects of the drug he'd injected me with. I remembered everything.
I never let a grudge die. And there was no telling how far I'd go to settle one.
He was finished.
