Chapter 21

1253 Words
Blaise Taylor With Aidan tightening the cuffs of his ever-present black suit whilst standing by my side, I stared at the hospital entrance. The constantly rushed state of the hospital increased my anxiety but my main focus was on my struggle to breathe. I could not force myself to go in. I knew my fears were irrational and my reputation would be greatly impaired but the fear of seeing Hunter fragile and unlike himself, was vast. I refused to let Aidan know why we had not entered the hospital yet despite arriving 5 minutes ago. As I was about to take initiative and enter, I saw Aidan already stepping into the building. I abruptly followed, rushing to keep up with his large strides. He kept looking back at me with one eyebrow raised. He knew there was something wrong, he was trained to pick up on the smallest of cues. I just stuck my tongue out in response. After asking the receptionist where Hunter was staying, Aidan and I trekked down the long and confusing corridors of the hospital. We reached the door Hunter was behind and Aidan confidently went to enter. I grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the door, much to his surprise. He turned to meet my eyes, "Wait out here." He laughed and shook my arm off of him, continuing to enter, not realising that I was serious. "Want some alone time with your boyfriend?" He raised his eyebrows in a joking manner. "Listen d**k, I'm being serious. Let me go in alone." He sighed and stepped away from the door. He tightened his suit and then left my side to sit on a small chair in the corridor. I nodded in a subpar thanks and pushed open the door. I kept my eyes to the floor, unable to find the strength to look up. We were told that Hunter was placed in a medically induced coma after his surgery. All of which my father never told me. I understood why the doctors placed him in a coma but it hurt that I couldn't hear his smug yet comforting voice. My one weakness in this world, was this boy lying in the bed in front of me. His smile always kept me going and he was the only thing that encouraged me to keep living after Jordan's death broke me. Now looking up at his face, I couldn't recognise him. He physically looked the same except for a few cuts and bruises, but his bold spirit and his familiar warmth wasn't there. He looked broken. His face was not peaceful but it was haunted, maybe by the traumatic event he faced or by the brutal life he had lived. It ate at my heart. I sat by his bed for what felt like years, just holding his hand. Aidan Romano It was as if she thought I was her dog, willingly to obey her commands. But she was in pain and needed this, not to mention we were about to spend months in Russian alone and together. I was not about to piss her off right before that. I thought we would be here for a few minutes to give her peace of mind, but we'd been here hours. I had just been sitting here, being the most bored I'd ever been. I was being nice but I had my limits and I knew that I said I would wait for her outside the room, but I couldn't. I got to my feet and busted in the room with a bored expression on my face. I instantly regretted it. The scene that lay before me even tugged at my frozen heart. Blaise was sat next to the bed of Hunter, her small hand grasping his, while a single tear ran down her face. She was glorious. Her beauty not failing to shine through. But once she had spotted me, she quickly wiped the tear off her face, as if it never existed. Her face was no longer sad or graceful, but purely angry. She gently placed Hunter's hand back in the bed next to him and then soundlessly crept over to me. I would have been scared if she wasn't so small. As she was next to me, she wrapped her hand in my shirt and dragged me out of the room along with her. After we exited the room, she pushed me away from her roughly. To then reel her hand back and punch me in the jaw. She was livid and her voice seethed with venom, "You Motherfucker, I asked for one moment. ONE MOMENT!" She took a deep breath in and rubbed her temples aggressively, "This stupid marriage put Hunter's life on the line and I wanted to apologise, ON MY OWN, but of course, thanks to your father, I couldn't have that." She angrily breathed out. "You could have just been a DECENT HUMAN and let me be alone WITH MY BEST FRIEND but of course you didn't listen to me. It’s clear now that I will get no say at all in this marriage." I stepped towards her as her tone fell to become sad. "But I think you would like to know, you little fucker, that I will not just obey your every command, I WILL NOT be your slave of a wife and I will make your life a living hell." After she finished her monologue, I knew that I should have just shut up but everything she said was not what I wanted and it annoyed me that she was assuming. I knew what I had done was wrong, but she had a thing of playing my last nerve and making me angrier than I thought I could be, "In case you hadn't noticed, but I've been obeying YOUR commands. You were the one who commanded for us to come here, You were the one who commanded ME to wait outside, just so you could kiss up to your boyfriend and then YOU have the balls to be mad at ME. Let's get one thing straight, you will marry me and when you do, I will make sure you never speak to him again." I went too far this time, evident from the steaming coming out of her ears. She went to slap me but I caught her hand. I internally grinned in relief but she brought her knee to my balls and I was unable to block. As I crouched down in pain, she pulled her mouth close to my ear and whispered. "You will NEVER stop me seeing Hunter and you 'obeying my commands' is funnily, just what decent human being do. Now I understand this concept may be new to you, but please learn to shut the f**k up and quit while you are ahead." She released her grip on my shirt and left to go back to the room Hunter was in. Blaise Taylor I was pissed, I was beyond pissed. f**k him. But as I laid eyes on Hunter again, my anger began to fade away. I solemnly whispered to him, "I'm so sorry this happened Hunter. The Russians will be destroyed and they will never be a threat to you again, I promise." I leaned down to kiss his forehead and then swiftly exited, not willing looking back. Back in the corridor, I instantly spotted Aidan still knelt over in pain. I continued walking out of the hospital, suppressing my grin.
