Chapter 23

Blaise Taylor Pulling the covers over my head, I attempted to hide from the sunlight that poured in through the curtain-less window. The light which brought the confirmation that my nightmare was reality. I was in fact stuck in the middle of Russia, my only company being a man who had murdered my brother. I rolled out of bed and sleepily walked towards the kitchen, suddenly feeling thirsty. As I passed through the living room, I saw Aidan curled up on the sofa. The sofa however was too small and most of his legs hung over the edge. His source of warmth, a quaint woollen blanket that barely covered him. I was surprised to see that he had not joined me in the bed, considering his constant persistence to piss me off. He let out a small sigh as he gently turned over in his sleep, allowing me to see his face. His usual annoying smirk was missing and I couldn't help but stare in curiosity. "Are you going to stare at me all day, amore?" He whispered smugly as he opened one eye. I rolled my eyes and instantly his signature smirk returned. "I preferred you when you were asleep." He grabbed his chest in a feigned act of hurt, "Blaise, you wound me." I laughed and leaned down to lightly hit his shoulder, "Shut up." I proceeded on to the kitchen and took the orange juice out of the fridge. Aidan's voice called from the living room but gradually became louder as he followed me into the kitchen. "I was researching last night for our first mission, and I think that we should try to create relationships with some of the higher-ranked people in the Russian Mafia. We could gain their trust and see if we can get any information from them." I drank out of the orange juice carton while I mulled over what he said. "That's a pretty good idea. Do you find any people that we can start with?" I brought to carton to my lips again but Aidan ripped the carton out of my hands, "Don't drink out of the carton, you're a lady, have some manners." He finished with a smile and then tipped the carton back to drink out of it. "I can't do everything around here; you should find these people." I stole the carton back out of his hands with a scowl, “I'll do a better job of finding someone anyway." Ignoring Aidan, I went to drink out of it once again, but Aidan bumped my arm and caused orange juice to spill down my face and clothes. "See, that wouldn't have happened if you drank out of a glass." "It wouldn't have happened if you hadn't knocked it my arm, you arsehole." I wiped the orange from my chin and chuckled slightly. Aidan noticed and began to join in. We looked insane. As our laughter died down, I took it as my cue to walk away and get to work. After two hours of research, I finally found two people that were perfect. I rushed out of the bedroom to find Aidan spread out across the sofa, watching the film 'Inception', another favourite of mine. I found myself smiling at the sight. "As much as I don't want to interrupt this, I think I've found our people. Twins, one boy, one girl called, Alexei and Nadia Petrov." Aidan nodded in vague interest while his eyes remained glued to the tv. "They own a popular club a few hours away from here and so I think that's where we should start. They'll probably be there so we should make a good first impression." "Looks like we're going to a club, after all, go get ready, we'll meet in the car in 2 hours." Aidan smugly taunted back. I responded with a roll of my eyes and a slight smile. But left him to be as I went back to the bedroom to get ready. I hated clubbing. I could never find enjoyment in annoyingly loud music, intrusive light and large crowds. However, to get a job done, especially this one, I was willing to do anything. After being sat on my bed frustrated by my clothes, I finally opted to wear a light pink latex textured skirt that ended mid-thigh and paired it with a mesh turtle neck that showed off the cute black bra I wore underneath. My shoes were knee-high black boots that I thought I'd never wear and only bought on a dare from Aidan. My hair was loosely curled and left to flow down my back, while my makeup remained neutral, with a pink lip, smokey eyes, winged liner, and a lightly contoured face. I kept glancing at the mirror over and over. I was still trying to reach the point where if I looked at myself in a mirror, I would love everything I saw. I smoothed out my skirt a final time and I left the room. I opened the door and greeted instantly by Aidan who was in the process of going to knock on the door. He awkwardly placed his hands in the jeans that fit him perfectly. He looked impeccable. He wore a simple black button-up shirt that had the first few buttons undone alongside his jeans. His hair slicked back and perfectly styled while his entrancing natural scent powerfully wafted around the room. Our eyes met and his cheeks flushed while his jaw tensed slightly. "You look beautiful." I smiled and withheld a giggle at Aidan transforming into a teen boy with a crush, "You don't look too bad yourself." He took my arm in his and lead me to the car. Opening my door for me, he bowed graciously, "Your chariot awaits, amore." I laughed, "Why thank you, kind sir." It felt like I held my breath the whole way to the club, unable to look away from Aidan who stole his fair few glances at me. Aidan parked the car and even from the outside the club's blaring music could be heard. The bright and colourful lights poured out of the open door as people lined up outside of it. I was not looking forward to this. Aidan wrapped my hand around his arm, noticing my hesitation, "Ready?" I weakly smiled and we began striding towards the club entrance. We skipped the club and went straight to the entrance where Aidan took the lead. He was immediately stopped by the bouncer, who then pointed to be back of the line without uttering a word. I moved out from behind Aidan and plastered a large smirk across my face while bouncing towards the bouncer. I fluttered my eyelashes and ran my fingers up his arms, "Exccccuuuusssssssse me, Sir, I'd reallllyyyyy appreciate it if you'd let my brotherr anddd I into the clubbbb." My voice came out slurred, to give the impression of being slightly drunk and seem vulnerable to him. I finished by running my hand through his hair flirtatiously. He took a deep breath in as his eyes filled with lust. He stepped out of the way and allowed us to pass. "Yayyyyy! Thank you!" I blew him a kiss as I strutted past him, dragging Aidan behind me. As soon as the daylight could no longer be seen, Aidan leaned down so his lips were touching my ear, "Well done, amore." I rapidly let go of his arm, "Find Nadia and I'll search for Alexei." My professionalism shone through despite my slight panic at how much Aidan affected me. He curiously stared down at my face before making his way through the crowd. I attempted to make my own path through the crowd as Aidan did, but with my small size, it was proving to be difficult. I knew I could just shove and punch people out of the way but if Alexei were to see, it would ruin my sweet person persona and break my cover. After being shoved for the fourth time, I decided it was time for an alcohol break. I found my way to the bar and flagged down a bartender. His face lit up as he saw me and despite having many other customers, he made a straight beeline towards me. He was young, but his arms and neck were littered with tattoos. He confidently smirked at me, "What can I get for a pretty girl like you?" I rested my elbow on the bar and placed my head in my hand as I unconsciously pouted in concentration over what drink I would like. I didn't return his flirtations, as while he was very attractive, I was on a mission and nothing could interfere. "Bourbon, neat" His tone was still flirtatious as he turned away to reach for the alcohol, "Coming right up, gorgeous." I quickly downed the drink as he slide it over to me, I welcomed the dull burn it created sliding down my throat. "Another, please." The bartender looked briefly impressed. Once receiving my second drink, I looked around the club. The loud music deafened me while the lights made it hard to see. Upon the dance floor, the newcomers were throwing themselves around, completely out of control. While the more experienced clubbers remained off the dance floor, sipping their drinks and watching, as if hunting their prey. I squinted as I spotted out of the corner of my eye, Aidan sitting in a booth with his arm around a girl who was easily identifiable as Nadia. Nadia suddenly threw her head back in laughter, while running one hand through her hair. Aidan's hand rested upon her thigh and he devilishly smirked, making her completely smitten. I clenched my fists and looked back to my drink. Jealously pooled in my stomach, an emotion I was not used to. "That's quite a drink you have there, one of my favourites." A thick Russian accent drew my attention, and as I looked to my right, there he was, Alexei. He had found me. Instantly I began flirting, "You have good taste then." I gently touched his arm while I stared into his eyes through my dark lashes. He smiled, "A beautiful lady such as yourself shouldn't be at the bar alone, so would you like to dance?" I grabbed his hand as I took the lead towards the dance floor, "I'd love to." I wrapped my arms around his neck, while his arms encircled my lower back. We gently swede to the buzzing music. "You're a beautiful woman." I forced myself to blush and smile nervously, "And you are a very attractive man." He laughed deeply, "I guess we make a good pair then." "I guess so." I turned around, so I was facing away from him and began teasingly grinding against him. His hands wrapped around my waist as I lost myself in the music. Light moans left his mouth but I could barely hear them over the music blaring in my ears. I turned back around to face him. I spread my hand around the back of his head to bring his lips down to mine. He grabbed the side of my face and deepened the kiss that I started. I opened my eyes and he ran his fingers along my cheek. "A dangerous woman." I smiled and brought my lips to his ear, "What makes you say dangerous?" I nipped at his lobe and felt his whole-body shudder. He brushed his finger along my bottom lip, "Your beauty is enchanting but I see you have a fire behind your eyes, you are a siren. Enchanting innocent men such as myself, and then drowning them to quench the thirst within yourself." As I went to reply, I felt myself be suddenly ripped away from Alexei. Aidan appeared from behind me, removing his hands from my waist and consequently owning up to his actions. Aidan then grabbed my arm in a tight grip and started dragging me through the club. "Aidan, what the f**k are you doing? Get off of me, you're ruining the mission, you f**k" I attempted to reason with him. He released my arm and we both came to a stop, allowing Nadia and Alexei to catch up and stand with us. Alexei looked at Aidan and I, "What the f**k is happening?" Nadia pretty little face was lit up with rage. Aidan pulled me behind him causing Alexei to step towards him whilst clenching his fists, "Leave." Before Alexei had the chance to act upon his anger, I pushed in front of Aidan and addressed Alexei, "My apologies, please meet my i***t overprotective brother." My words instantly calmed Nadia down. Which I assumed was because she no longer saw me as a threat to her and Aidan. Alexei on the other hand, remained angry. To soothe him I reached forward and grabbed his hand, "Where were we?"
