Feridah: The lost People.

Feridah "It's here," I hear my mother call out as she opens my bedroom door with an excited expression on her face and clenching envelope in her hands. "Well, open it already," I say she opens it, and we both read the letter in her hands. I skip to the bottom of the page, and excitement bubbles inside of me as I come across the word "Accepted." I can't believe it. I actually got accepted to become a member of the Magic Knight. "Baby, I'm so proud of you," my mother says from beside me. "Thanks, mom, this way, we can actually get out of the Sanctuary and live in the capital and we will own fancy things and be able to do what we want with the money I will be bringing in for us." She turns me so that I can face her, "Child, all I want is for you to do what you want and what will make you happy I don't need any fancy things if it means you will do things you wont like to get them." "No, I want to do this mom for you, and for me, it's my decision I want to get us both out of here." she stares at me with a blank expression and then smiles softly. " Alright then, it looks like you need to start packing. Let me go grab a few things for you from the market. i won't be gone long." My mother Lydia and I have lived in Sanctuary for years, probably for as long as I have been alive. The Sanctuary is a place within the walls of the kingdoms where all magic users live as it is the only pace capable of diminishing our powers so that we are able to live like the non magic users the Kings and the Queens of the kingdoms. Everyone says that we have to live here so that everyone can be equal and where there is equality, there's peace, right? What this means for us is that we cannot leave the Sanctuary unless summoned by the Royal Court or any other High ranking men and women. our visits are always supervised and there are people watch your every move. I always wonder why they do all this we've been living together in peace for years now. Why are they so afraid of us? Well, to be fair, I could understand why they may fear us even though it's been years since the war happened. A war between us, the people of Siver, and the three kingdoms Tanaco, Hamarcri, and Meroy. A war that caused us to be cursed by the goddess who gave us our power. its is said that the people of Siver wanted more power more land and more control and they used the fact that they were the only ones with the power to get it that it's should all belong to them how ever this angered the goddess and she set forth her wrath upon them and used used thier own power to consume them. After the war, all the remaining Siverians were now left with no home and a cures that said if we ever use our powers to try and take control of the other kingdoms we would be doomed to the same fate as our people and perish by our own hand. So the Sanctuaries where created in every Kingdom and a spell was cust upon them that makes our powers less threatening to the other nations and that's why we are only allowed to live in Sanctuaries and not in the capital. My mother and I live in the Sanctuary of the Kingdom of Meroy. So we live by their rules as part of their citizens even though their distaste for us can sometimes be clearly seen whenever we all gather to celebrate the Day that our people and theirs become allies and made a promise of peace. It's happens every year, on the third day of the third month. It's more like a festival if anything, considering it actually lasts for three days.That's also the only time we are allowed to move freely in the capital. Its sad that the festival lasts only three days, but those are by far the best three days of the whole year for me, other than the fact that I can visit the capital's Libraries to switch out my old books for the latest ones it is also the only time I get to see my best friend Lydia. Lydia and I both grew up in the Sanctuary but her elder brother made a discovery that seemed to impress King himself so he gave him a place among his court and that's how Lydia and her family left the Sanctuary for capital. We keep in touch with each other through letters, and in the most recent one she said she had some big news to tell me about what her brother has just perfected and how it will change everything, she didn't say much in the letter though, because all the letters are read by the guards and knights to make sure no one is planning anything treason or whatever. What this all means is that we have to filter our letters and don't really get to talk in detail, which just pisses us both off. The festival is in two weeks and I can't wait to hear about her brothers big invention that is about to change everything and to tell her that I've been accepted as a Magic Knight can get a shot at leaving the Sanctuary. If I can't invent something to buy me a ticket out of here, I will use my healing power to become a Magic Knight, get out of here, and actually help people. There are a few ways in which a Siverian can be allowed to leave the Sanctuary, and becoming a Magic Knight is one of them, creating something outlandish is also one of the few ways just like how Lydia's brother James did, just by having an awesome power can also get you out of here. My magic is great but its nothing too special or rare there are alot of people with healing magic. The only difference between me and them is that I can heal without using up my energy or the energy of the person I'm healing, usually with healers its either they heal you by drawing power from your energy or from there own energy, either way it will leave one of them completely exhausted depending on sick or injured they are which can limit how many people they can heal at a time while for my case I can heal continuously and not tire myself or anybody out so thats how I probably got accepted to become a Magic Knight and am going to become and leave this place for good. Cause even though they allow us to live with them and they built a place for us to stay the whole restricting our powers thing and not allowing us to leave whenever we want just doesn't sit right with me. Besides, why can't we just go back to the place where our Kingdom once was and live on our own land and rebuild. Whenever I start to ask these questions, all the research that i have done on the matter, including what people have told me all points to the fact that there is a curse on that land. No Siverian has been allowed to go to Siver since the war happened infact no one at all has been allowed to go there not even the Meroians themselves some say that our magic would grow and get out of control and if that happens then the goddess curse will awaken and consume whoever is in that Kingdom.
