(Jasper POV)
I sat up on my elbow and looked at the perfect creature that slept peacefully beside me.
For so long I had searched for her. So many times I had felt her and caught her scent only for her to escape me at the last moment.
Now that I had her I would never let her go.
There was more to this woman than I could put my finger on. She was definitely of Alpha Blood that much I could tell from her Aura, but if so then why wasn't she with a pack that could protect her from the evil king.
I knew as special as her Aura told me she was that if he happened across her he would want her and there was no way in hell I would allow him to touch her. She bared my mark now but that wouldn't stop that evil bastard.
I had worked on the king's guard for some time until I realized he was nothing like he portrayed and the world began to go to hell in a hand basket. He began allowing the laws to be broken, and he started saying off young she-wolves to men who wanted them for sinister reasons.
I left the guard when marshall law was called and it was everyone for themselves. There was no more laws other than those that he chose to enforce. Women were seen as property to him.
His Lycan is an evil bastard. He took many women without their permission and killed their mates in front of them. He made men watch while he raped their mates and took children from their mothers to train as soldiers.
The only ones safe in this world were men who were unmated and didn't rebel against his rule. He rarely messed with elderly women because they were of no use to him.
I had started a rebellion in the jungle. My men had helped me build a refugee deep inside the Alpine Caves. I hadn't been home in so long and I knew they were worried but I couldn't go home without her and until last night she wouldn't have been ready. Last night she finally trusted me fully so now I could tell her of the refugee and ask her to join me there.
I had a small army that could protect her, and there was women and children there she could interact with an not be so lonely. I don't know how she had made it this long on her own. It would have driven me crazy.
I climbed from bed careful not to wake her and made my way to the hearth. I put on a kettle of coffee and got to making breakfast.
Just as I had finished cooking the bacon, eggs, and toast I had made for breakfast I felt Ensley enter the room. I picked up the coffee kettle and poured her a cup adding her usual. An ounce of almond milk, five teaspoons of sugar, and an ounce of French vanilla creamer. The woman drunk more sweet than coffee.
I turned to her and her face heated red as she remembered our activities from the night before. Her innocence was a huge turn on and I felt my d**k twitch in my pants.
I smiled at her and pulled out her chair. "Sit and eat. You must be sore. I'm going to pack the fire and get it warm so I can fill the bath for us." I told her and kissed her soft cheek.
"This looks delicious, Jasper. Thank you." she smiled up at me.
"Anything for you, my love." I kissed the top of her nose and she giggled making me smile.
I went to work stoking the fire making the heat spread out over the damp cold cave. I then began to fill buckets at the spring and fill the metal tub she used as a bath tub. I had no idea how she had gotten most of this stuff here. It was a really nice place, a home. And she had built it with her own two hands. I knew it would be hard for her to leave it.
After she ate and we had our bath we curled up by the fire and she began to read to me from one of her books.
Once she was done she laid her head on my shoulder and we revelled in the silence.
"Ensley?" I broke the silence. She hummed and I took a deep breath as my stomach twisted with the conversation I was about to have with her.
"I need to talk to you about my life away from here." I told her and she raised up turning around and looking at me.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"I run a refugee camp for women, children, and mates who have fled the kingdom." I finally told her and held my breath awaiting her response.
I seen her mulling my words through her mind trying to make sense of what I had just said.
"Were is this place?" she broke the unnerving silence.
"It's in the Alpine Caves systems. Or should I say beneath it. We have created a safe haven there were people can escape to. We have an amazing community and a small well trained army." I told her.
She sat silent for a moment making my stomach twist in knots. Was she going to be mad at me? Was she going to refuse to go back with me?
"I'm guessing you need to get back there then?" she asked her eyes cast down to the floor.
"I'm sure their worried about me, and so many people are counting on me. But I want you to come with me. You would make an amazing addition to our community. Myen could actually learn a few things from you." I laughed nervously.
She lifted her eyes to meet mine and surprised filled them, "You want me to go with you?" she question.
"Of course! I would never go without you. You are my life, Ensley. Without you I couldn't go on living." I took her hands and kissed them.
She looked around the place that she called home and I knew this was hard for her. She took a deep breath making me hd mine in anticipation once more.
"I guess we should pack then." she smiled and I threw my arms around her pulling her to me making her squeal.
"You will love it there. All the women and children will love you." I told her.
She pulled back and looked at me, "What if they don't?" I haven't been around people in a long time Jasper. I.. I don't know if I remember how to act around people, to hold a conversation." a worried expression took hold of her face.
"You do great with me. And my people aren't like that. They do not judge. They are kind, patient, and understanding. They will embrace your presence and will be so excited I found my fated." I assured her.
I tipped her chin up making her looke in the eye and she smiled. "Okay, I trust you." she smiled. "That's all I ask." I whispered before bringing my mouth to hers and kissing her passionately.
