27 JJ could smell blood, but she wasn’t sure if it was on her clothes or in her car. Hopefully the former. She’d have to wait until daylight to clean her Bronco. She’d call tonight as soon as she got home and see if someone could cover the first couple hours of her shift tomorrow. The girls would need a decent breakfast and as normal a morning as possible after what they’d experienced today. What if they couldn’t face school? She doubted she could get the full day off, but maybe Iris would be willing to watch them. Unless, of course, Harlan was being transferred tomorrow. At least Iris had already fed the girls dinner. All JJ had to do was get them home and get them to bed. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d changed Evie’s sheets, but she wasn’t going to worry about it. Dorothy mi
