The Letter
Thursday, April 26,2017 “Dear Dylan and Dawn, I need to tell you the truth, me and your father have talked about you both behind your backs, and not in a good way either, when you two were taken away from us, I realized something in the midst of everything. You both are special, and you know certain things about our family and where we came from and who we are that cannot get out in the open or it would be the war of the worlds again. Girls, I miss you and I’m really sorry. I’m sending this letter to you because your baby sister Alice is missing. She was last seen at the mall with Cathryn and Akira. I’m asking as your mother and as your friend. Please, please bring your baby sister home. We have tried going to the police but there are signs that she was taken by someone of our world, a supernatural. The police would not know how to handle this kind of situation. The family has been fighting to get you girls home with us again and with council approval you girls can come home in two weeks. Please girls find your sister before the two weeks is up. I really want to be a family again. I miss my babies and I miss us being a family. With All Our Love, Ani and Aaron P.S. The Family has attached a copy of your sisters’ powers and signs that she was in a certain area, so it would be easier for you to find her. Please be careful my pretties. Please.” ALICE INFORMATION: We don’t truly know a lot about your sisters’ powers but all we do know is that, Alice is 300,00 years old, so far. Apparently, at one point in her life, she was human, just like us all but her humanity was taken from her in turn for another. Yes girls, Alice traded her life for another person’s. However, instead of dying, her soul kept walking the earth for reasons unknown to us. The day your mother got pregnant, it seems as if Alice’s soul had been waiting for her because she didn’t leave your mothers side until it was time for her to be reborn. With her soul having walked the earth for so long without a bodied, Alice gained the power to manipulate darkness, which makes sense because when you think about how long she was wondering the earth without a body. For some reason the darkness has always loved her for some reasons that are completely unknown to us as of yet. Some of the council members believe that darkness listens to her and obeys her because she can see the light within it and she can control it. The fact that she can use it so thoroughly makes her extremely dangerous. She can draw out the devil himself and keep him out as long as she wants, if you thought Samuel was scary when he is mad then never piss off your sister. She can pretty much engulf half the world in darkness and not feel a thing. Dylan stared at the letter and couldn’t believe what she just read. Alice was missing and she, according to the letter, was extremely dangerous. How could a seventeen-year-old girl go missing so easily, when she was with family? Dawn looked up hearing the sound of footsteps on the basement stairs, “Dill, you down here sis?” Her twin sister, Dawn called. “Yeah I am D,” Dylan sculled back. She came down the rest of the stairs and crossed the room to sit next to Dylan, “What’s that?” She asked, holding out her hand for the notes. “Apparently, Alice has gone missing and we have two weeks to find before we go back home.” Dylan gave her sister a shortened version of letter. “Say what not??” Dawn replied. “How does a seventeen-year-old, with more bodyguards then the president, go missing?” She said, confused. Dylan shook her head and handed the letters to her, “Speaking of letters, our lovely foster sister Maria has asked us to do her chores because apparently Chela is having a party and she just has to go or she’ll die.” Dawns imitation of Maria made Dylan burst out with laughter. Their foster sister always had something more important to do, she never thought about anyone but herself and her status. That meant that there was a chore list, “Where is the list of things we have to do? Since our lives aren’t important.” Dawn smirked and pulled a piece of paper out of her back pocket then held it up. Dylan shook her and grabbed the list. “We’ll read it later. Come on or we’ll be late for class.” They are demons and they come from a family of demons, their family is one of the most powerful families in the states at the moment. Dylan and Dawn were sent away to learn how to use their powers but by accident they had been put in foster care and had been there for almost seven years now. Both of them were high students in their senior year. Dylan grabbed her backpack from the corner and followed Dawn up the steps. When they got to the top of the steps, Dawn grabbed her messenger bag and her shoes. Dylan stopped to let her sister put on her sneakers and read the first half of the letter. They walked past the kitchen and toward the garage door, “What’s that in your hand?” Maria called from the kitchen. Damn it, Dylan thought to her sister I thought we could get out of here with having to talk to her. Dawn laughed and shrugged heading back toward the kitchen. Maria was sitting at the island with their foster brother TJ sitting across from her. Their foster parents were coming down the stairs. “It’s a letter from our parents.” Dylan said, grabbing the letter from Dawn before Maria could grab it. “We didn’t write you girls a letter” their foster mom, Leslie said. Dylan had always hated her foster family because of how they treated people who didn’t come from money, Dawn felt the same way but loved the adventure of being somewhere else, somewhere new and exciting but nothing exciting happened in their small town of Crystal Cove, Virginia. “It’s not from you,” Dawn said as Dylan was hiding the letter in her backpack. “It’s from our real parents.” Everyone starred at them as if they both had just grown an extra head each. The girls took the moment to head out to their car and to the college. “We’ll talk about this when you girls get home.” They heard their foster father yell. Oh no we won’t Dawn thought to her sister. Dylan laughed as they got into the car and headed toward the school. By the time, everyone got home, they would be asleep and Maria’s chores would be done. Dylan pulled into the high school parking lot, the school they went was called Golden Prep. It was a rich kids’ school in a real classy neighborhood. The girls hated it because everyone there acted like they were god’s gift to earth, the guys wanted to be rich and famous and get all the girls while the girls wanted to be rich and famous and get all the guys. The girls may hate the school, but they did have a couple of friends who they trusted but not well enough to them their secret. First period for the girls was gym class. The most hated class, besides well every class in high school. Dylan and Dawn walked into the girl’s locker room and came face to face with their best friends in school, Dru Nelson and Tekoa Kelly. “Why do we have gym first period of the day?” Dru whined. They looked at her and smiled. “It’s because they think you’re special, Dru.” Tekoa said. I love them both too much to tell why I think they’re both special. Dawn thought to Dylan and Dylan smiled lightly, Not nice, Dawn. Dylan thought to her sister. “Alright everyone,” Their gym, teacher Mrs. Martin said. “Today, half the class is playing basketball and half the class is playing volleyball.” Some people cheered, and some people groaned. Luckily, the girls were on the same team and they happened to be playing Dru’s favorite sport. Erik Anderson, one of the coolest guys in school, was on the other team. Don’t you think Erik Anderson is so cute. Dylan thought to her sister. Why do you bring me into these things, Dill? He sister asked her. Today’s match was girls vs, boys. The girls served first, Dylan took her place to hit the ball over the net, she served. When the ball went over the net, Bryan Reynolds hit, and the ball went flying over the net, Dawn hit it back towards the boy’s side and they missed it. “Girls’ point” Their teacher yelled. Dylan set up again and served, this time Erik hit the ball, the ball was heading straight for her, she got ready to hit it up so that Dru could spike it, but something hit her from behind and Dylan went forward. Before Dylan hit the ground, she saw Erik duck under the net coming straight at her, he caught her before she actually hit the ground. She looked up at him and then blacked out. “Someone get the nurse!” was the last thing she heard. When Dylan woke up, she was starring at a white ceiling. She turned her head to the left and looked out the window, the bright light made her head pound, so she turned her head to the right and came face to face with her sister and her friends. “H…Hey” Dylan stuttered. Dawn stopped looked at her and started crying. “Your okay?” Dawn said through her tears. Dru and Tekoa jumped up and down hugging. Bryan was standing there, smiling at them and Erik was standing next to him, running a hand through his hair. “What happened?” Dylan asked, sitting up and looking around the room, she was in the nurse’s office. That explained the white ceiling and walls. What was it with people in the medical profession and white? “Maria threw a basketball at you,” Erik started “She said that she was aiming for your legs, but she hit you in the head instead.” Dylan wanted to act surprised but that didn’t really surprise her. Maria was a giant b***h with a capital B. She hated it whenever someone talked to Erik because they had dated in junior year, but Erik broke up with her when he found out that she was sleeping with a member of the hockey team, Scott Pilgrim. Ever since then, Maria has been trying to get him back, but he has been dodging all of her efforts and its been pissing her off. I’m sorry this happened to you, Dylan heard Erik’s thoughts, this is all my fault, Dill. She looked up at him and shook her head. The thing about Erik and Bryan was that they were demons too, their families were the most powerful demons in the world. No one matched them, and no one dared every piss them off. It’s not your fault, my foster sister is a major b***h. Dylan replied. He smiled lightly and went to sister next to her once Dawn moved. When he did that, Dylan’s hear started to pound against her chest, that’s when the nurse decided to walk in. “Oh, I see our patient is awake now,” The nurse said. “Dylan nodded, not trusting herself to speak even a word. She was afraid that she would say something wrong or that her heart might jump out. The nurse smiled lightly and sat down at her desk, when the door to the office flew open and Maria came stomping in. “You little w***e,” Maria spat. Her face turning the color of a fresh tomato. Dylan and Erik shared a look, then Erik got up. Maria’s glare went from Dylan to Erik and it softened. “Maria,” He started “We broke up a long time ago. You need to get over this.” He said placing himself in front of Dylan. “I thought you just needed a break, I didn’t know you actually wanted to break up.” She moved forward. Erik shook his head and stayed in front of Dylan. Maria huffed and shook her head, “Fine,” she said, “I don’t need you, I am so much better off with out you in my life.” Maria turned and walked off. The whole room was silent, what in the hell just happened? Dawn thought to her sister. Dill looked at her and shrugged. “Bryan was the one to break the silence when he broke out laughing. Everyone looked at him. “Sorry,” He said “For a second there I thought she was going to explode into a million little Marias’. Everyone laughed at that, but Erik knew one thing as he watched Dylan, he wasn’t going to let her out of his sight. Not now or Ever, Dylan was his. He just had to make her see that.
