Chapter 5

I looked at the note, not sure what to make of it, where could I go we was in the middle of nowhere and I had nowhere to go or no one to turn to. Maybe it’s just someone trying to scare me. Iv decided to ignore it hopefully I wont get anymore. I put it the draw in my desk and decide that’s enough for one day and go to sleep.

I wake and shower and get ready for another day and as he said Calvin was waiting for me. He put his arm round my shoulders as we walked to the main hall for breakfast. No one looked up and stared this time so I felt more comfortable as we sat at the same table and like yesterday Calvin went and got us breakfast. I saw Harriett enter the hall, she looked so nervous so I waved her over to come sit with us. She smiled as relief washed over her face with and made her way over to our table “thanks I’m so glad your here, it’s scary when you don’t know anyone” she said. “I though you would of known some of the other witches” i asked curious “most of the students here are from a higher class then me and have banded together as the most powerful covern. I’m what you’d say a lone witch”she said looking slightly uncomfortable “miss weatherbourne sought me out as one of my spell went terribly wrong and apparently they picked up on my power source and said it was one of the strongest they felt in a long time” she shrugged as explained “wow that’s amazing” I said “ I think she’s wrong. No lone witch send off that much of a power source usually you need a covern to feed off each others energy” she explained “ but she found you. There must be something, I’m still not sure what she saw in me I can’t do anything, I mean I think I did something once but I’m not even sure it was me” I said. She lifted her hand up to touch me but looked at me for permission first. I nodded as she touched my chest. She scrunched her face up as if trying to figure something out “ there definitely something there I can feel it but your blocking it” she said. “ how am I blocking it” I asked “ there so much pain, your keeping it in, you need to let it out.” She said as a tear ran down her face “ are you alright Harriett” I asked concerned “ yeah I’m fine, I’m not crying for me, I’m crying for you the pain your feeling is so strong” she said as she moved her hand away from me “ why are you keeping it all in” she asked. “ I’m not ready to let it out. I’m scared if I do I’ll never stop hurting” I answered her honestly. Calvin placed a plate of bacon and eggs in front me making us both jump “ sorry ladies didn’t mean to startle you” he said grinning as he sat down to join us. We fell into easy conversation it was good to have at least two people I could be friends with.

Me and Calvin made our way to first class as we reached the door “CALVIN” someone bellowed from down the hall Calvin shoulders tensed and stood protectively in front of me as the large boy approached him, his face screwed up in anger. I recognised him from the hall yesterday he was one of the six “ Hudson to what do I owe the pleasure” Calvin said cockily. so this one is Hudson. His dirty blond hair perfectly spiked, blue eyes scrunched into slits and his large hands balled into fists at his side “ how many times do I have to tell you to keep your mutts to there side of the Forrest” he roared at Calvin “ I’ll have a word with them anything else” Calvin seethed back. Hudson roared in anger I saw him bring his fist up but he moved so fast I didn’t even see it comming he swung at Calvin and Calvin ducked leaving the fist to come straight towards me. I closed my eyes ready for input but was dragged out the way by strong arms I opened my eyes to find Blake looking down at with the same concern on his face as yesterday I felt the cold in his eyes and the heat of his touch warming up my very core I let out a breath I didn’t realise I had been holding “what the hell” Calvin shouted out “ keep your boys under control Blake” Calvin spat a Blake “ well as you know your pack has been in our side of the woods again. And twice now I have had to save the new girl from you” he said with a coolness to his tone “ no you had to save her from Hudson” he gave back “ well Calvin you would rather her get punched in the face by Hudson to save yours tsk tsk” he wiggled his finger at Calvin “ that’s not very gentlemen of you now is it. Maybe I should look after her today she may go the rest of the day without getting hurt” he said, his voice like steel. Calvins face had reddened with anger but he did nothing to correct him or argue with him. Blake walked me into the class I sat in the seat I sat in yesterday and Blake sat beside me leaving Calvin to sit beside Ava. Ava glared and me and Blake the whole lesson although Blake didn’t seem to notice or he didn’t care just before class finished the teacher came up to me “ miss Taylor I hope you worked on your gift. Let’s see” said said. Oh no I still have no idea what to do. She sighed “ think of something that made you happy and use it feel it, let the feeling flow through your body” she said I looked around all eyes are on me I rubbed my now sweaty hands on my skirt and thought of this morning I was happy I’d made some new friends I used that. I tried to do what she she told me to do but still there was nothing. “ such a shame”she said as she walked back to her desk I could tell she was disappointed “ that’s it for today class” we stood and I looked to Blake “ thank you for earlier” I said “ don’t thank me I ain’t your hero, I’m the monster that lives under you bed” he said his voice like stone his eyes back the cold ice sending a shiver through me I stepped away from him “ Calvin” he snapped “ try not to get her killed” he said and left the classroom.

Calvin had apologised repeatedly throughout the day. Of course I accepted his apology the first time he said it. The rest of day went by easily. I bumped into Harriett and agreed to have breakfast together tomorrow.

Calvin walked me back to my dorm and pulled me into a hug still unsure of all this closeness “I am sorry Taylor I told you I had your back and you nearly got hurt because of me” Calvin said “ it’s fine Calvin I told you it was just natural reaction what you did” I reassured him we agreed to meet for breakfast and said our goodbyes and I headed up to my room.
