I was about to start packing up to go home, but suddenly, I felt a strange urge to see the brothers. After I put my things in my bag, I locked it in the drawer and went over to the door, and knocked, “Come in.” I heard Drake answer; I opened it slightly and popped my head in; they were standing at the window, Drake held the blueprints I had brought him, but they were both looking at me,
“I-I’m sorry, I can come back,” Elliot cut me off,
“What is it, Ana? Did you need something?” I sighed and put as much courage in my voice as possible,
“It’s a personal situation.” I told them, they motioned for me to sit on the couch as they both pulled up a chair; they stared patiently and curiously at me, “I got a call from my roommates this morning after I got to work. Our landlord evicted us.” Their faces turned from patient and curious to anger and worry, “Lucys’ boyfriend has an extra room, so Lucy and Ruby have a place to live, but,”
“You can stay with us.” They both blurted out. They looked at each other, perhaps surprised by each other’s offer. I was a bit surprised myself,
“Are you sure?” I asked, “I could probably find a hotel to stay at for a while and try to save some money for an apartment.” But Elliot came over to me,
“Don’t be ridiculous; you’d be spending more money for a hotel room than you would staying with us.” Drake came over to the other side,
“Consider the room, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other basic necessities that you’d need. Elliot’s right; you’d save half if not nearly all of your money staying with us. Plus, you’d have your own room in your own wing of the house.”
“Perhaps on her own floor as well,” Elliot added; Drake nodded at his brother’s statement. Should I actually accept their offer? It would be crazy not to, but equally so, it would be crazy to take their offer. It would be nice not to spend the money, especially since I haven’t even gotten my first paycheck yet. I sighed, not seeing much of a choice since I spent my last twenty on my lunch today.
“Thank you, I appreciate you taking me in. And I promise you won’t regret it.” I smiled, trying to show that I was excited, but truthfully, I was terrified.
I sat in the backseat of the car while the boys went to talk to the landlord about letting me get some things before completely locking us out. Lucy and Ruby were on their way; they had the same idea as me. When I saw Andys’ car pull up, I jumped out of the car and ran over to the girls. We held each other in a tight embrace before letting go of each other, “You have the best bosses; letting you stay with them, that’s so sweet.” Lucy said. I smiled; if only they knew what almost happened Saturday night, I thought. Drake and Elliot came out and smiled,
“Miss Lucy, lovely to see you again.” Drake said to her; Andy held her close to him, “This must be the wonderful boyfriend of yours.” Elliot nudged him,
“I believe she said, the love of her life.” Drake nodded,
“Right.” He said, then turned his attention to Andy, “You, sir, have a good woman on your hands. Even when exclusively dating someone, most girls who work at the club try to have s*x with us. Not your Lucy, this young woman held herself up with respect and dignity. Cherish that.” I smiled as Andy kissed the top of Lucys’ head and hugged her tightly. Then the brothers turned to Ruby,
“Miss Ruby, we spoke on the phone,” Elliot said; she smirked and nodded,
“Yes,” then she got really close to them, “now listen, you two. I don’t care how rich or powerful you are; if you hurt my girl, be prepared to burn in Hell. I will hunt you down to the ends of the Earth and end your pathetic, miserable lives. Am I clear?” My blood ran cold as I looked up at the brothers, who were pale as a ghost, Drake was clearly about to say something witty, but Elliot covered his mouth,
“Clear. Crystal clear.” I giggled a little at his eagerness. Drake then coughed,
“You girls can go get what you need. We’ll have everything else put into storage for you.” All three of us told them to thank them before heading up to get whatever we needed, which wasn’t much at all for me.
We were on our way to the house, but when it came into view, I determined that the word house doesn’t even begin to do this building justice. This place is a f*****g mansion! I watched as we pulled up the driveway; right in the front yard was a gorgeous fountain, and the plants were so green and well kept, it was like a picture in a fairytale book. I heard both of the boys’ chuckle, “Like it?” Elliot asked, “This land has been passed down from generation to generation. It was passed down to us when we turned eighteen.” I smiled,
“Great, so you were born rich,” I said, probably a little sassier than I intended, but they just laughed,
“Yeah, I guess so,” Drake said between laughs. “Our family has been rich since the seventeenth century.” This piqued my interest,
“According to family history, our direct ancestors, James, and Carter Leviathan, founded this land, but back then, it was called Dragons Ridge,” Elliot explained. Still, the only part that intrigued me was the name of the land, Dragons Ridge. Why does that sound so familiar, I wondered. I pushed it aside as Elliot continued to explain their history as we walked the grounds, “It was they who met the creatures of the ridge, the dragons. It’s even said that only they could tame the leader of the dragons. They were then given the title, the Dragon Kings.” I scoffed a bit and placed my hand on my hip,
“So, you two are descendants of royalty? Well, isn’t that just a kick in the ass.” I muttered the last part, “Besides, dragons don’t exist. If anything, they saw something resembling a dragon or something.” I said, trying to be logical. I didn’t believe in fairytales; I’ve never had a reason to think that they might be true, not even for a moment.
The boys showed me to my room; I also learned that these two had maids and s**t. This is definitely going to take some getting used to. Elliot opened the double doors to reveal a stunning room with the most enormous bed I have ever seen. I noticed my suitcase by a door that I assume is the closet. I walked over to the bed and threw myself on top of it; I couldn’t help but moan the second my body hit it, “I’ve never felt such a comfortable bed in my life.” I said, both boys chuckled. Drake went over to the left of the room and opened the door,
“If you like the bed, you’ll love this.” I raised up and looked at him curiously, and walked toward him. I walked into the room; it was a bathroom. I looked around it and saw the essential items, but when I turned around, my mouth hit the floor; it was a deep, oval-shaped tub with jets,
“Oh, sweet mercy….” I sighed; part of me wanted to strip right here, right now, and jump in it.
“I wish she would jump in it right now; I want to make her squeal.” I turned, my face flushed red,
“D-Did you say something?” I asked Drake; he looked at me for a moment, then smiled,
“No, I didn’t.” He motioned to the tub, “Did you want some privacy? I think you and that tub want to get better acquainted.” I giggled, but I felt my skin burning, no, not burning, aching. I was aching for something, but I’m not sure what.
“I don’t know how it works,” I explained. Elliot walked in with what looked to be my clothes and toiletries.
“We can show you; it’s not difficult.” He replied as he set my things on the counter. He sat on the edge of the tub and messed with the knobs. Once the water was adjusted, he pointed to a button, “This will turn on the jets.” He stated; I nodded. Then Drake grabbed something from a shelf and poured it under the faucet; bubbles formed in the water. Without another word, both men walked out, smiles on their faces. I smiled and stripped out of my clothes, and got in the tub. When the water was high enough, I turned off the faucet and pushed the button for the jets. The moment the jets purred to life, I sank deeper into the water, relaxing for the first time in a long time.
