Chapter 4

I cleared my throat and turned to my father who was smiling, and not at the man that irritated my soul, who picked on me growing up and spent his days at my family home tormenting me with my brothers.         "Papa I know I have a lot to explain, but I don't think now is the time to do so. Your hosting a party and I wouldn't want to ruin it." I gave a soft smile.     "f**k the party." Spoke Andrew and Andre at the same time.             "Boys." Was the only warning that they got from my mother as she moved closer to my father "I agree the guest have been long enough without us." She walked to the door and I pressed my fingers to my forehead.      I just couldn't understand why the woman hated me like she did. My father hugged me giving me a sympathetic smile already knowing how I was feeling. "Don't worry you know how your mother gets." He kissed the top of my head "Come enjoy the festivities. Boy's best behaviors please." They all grinned and followed after my father.         All except Jackson and his best friend Sam, they stood in the doorway and stared at me for a long time before Jackson spoke, "Why did it take you so long to make yourself known?" I chewed on the inside of my cheeks choosing my words wisely "It was for the best. I made some mistakes and I couldn't live with them and be here." I wrapped my arms around myself as Cassidy moved pass the boys and out the door with Amelia in tow.         "What could you have possibly done that would cause you to up and vanish like you did?" Jackson spoke with so much hurt in his voice.         I frowned and looked over to Sam who was now looking down and putting his hands in the pockets of his trousers. Jackson missed the exchange of looks that we shared, before turning my attention back to my brother. "I can't speak about it." Myself and Jackson had always been very close, which was actually an understatement. Leaving him was one of the hardest thins that I could do, but what I had done and what followed was more then anyone would have understood in this town and who knows what my mother would have done if she found out at the time.     "There you are my love." A tall blonde woman spoke and Sam looked over to the side and smiled at her as she entwined their arms and smiled at him. I turned my head just as the woman looked my way "And who do we have here that's got you two hiding away from the party?" Her snotty comment did not go unnoticed.     Jackson stood straight "My long lost sister."  The woman's smile was so fake I could see right through her "Hello i'm Bridget, i'm Sams girlfriend."         To no surprise I nodded "Alisha"     Sam looked at me, his piercing eyes holding me hostage "It was nice seeing you again Ali." and he turned to leave with the woman and Jackson following on his heels. I looked up at the ceiling and mumbled "Why did you come back here." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     For a while I played the daughter of the billionaires George and Mary at the event they shared. I felt like this day was just dragging on with no end in sight. Cassidy sat with me and Amelia played with her doll. Every time I tried to leave my father would stop me and give me a look that begged me not to leave. For my father I stayed, but I stayed to myself mostly.            The night was coming to an end and my Melia was asking when we would be headed home.     "Soon porkchop." I spoke softly touching her head and turning to Cassidy who's eyes were following Andre. "God will you stop eye f*****g my brother." She blushed bright red and turned to me smacking my arm "Shut up before someone hears you."     I looked at her knowing that she knew I did not care about any of these peoples opinion of me, I had been away from home to long to worry about these people and their opinions. "I need to pee, keep a close eye on her." I scanned the area before leaving for the loo. Walking into my childhood home I found my way to the bathroom that was off of the kitchen. I did my business and was drying my hands when the door to the bathroom opened and I was met with a very tired and drunk looking Sam.     "I'm pretty sure I locked the door." I said to him tossing the paper towel in the small trash can, before I could move out of the way he grabbed me and pulled me into an embrace and I froze "Ali" He whispered.     We stood like this for just a few moments, my eyes closed as I inhaled his scent and then my brain started working "Let me go Samuel." he pulled back and stumbled sadly staring at me "What did I do wrong?" I shook my head, "I need to leave." I left the bathroom and the party Cassidy already walking towards me as I left the bathroom. "What?" She stopped speaking when she saw Sam in the doorway of the bathroom with a drink in his hand and a scowl on his face.      I left the party leaving my number in my fathers study not able to face him again at this time.
