Chapter 15

I pushed my glasses back and rubbed my eyes, I had been working on the assignment that Sam had given me for what seemed like forever. The complying of all of the information was leading back to someone actually embezzling money from the company, but the trail was very jumpy and I couldn't pinpoint any one person at the time. I took a sip of my Cola and looked back at the paperwork my eyes had been glued to for the pass to hours. I was surprised that Amelia was not up yet, I glanced to where she slept on the couch.         It was a pretty nice day for a long nap, especially since she had been out with my brother Jackson and his girlfriend Olivia all morning while I tried to go through my notes and check back through what I had already finished. I'm not going to lie to anyone, It was nice actually having people around to help with Amelia's care. My father even took out his lunch sometimes just to check on his granddaughter, he often called me to check on her which made me laugh. I'm so happy my father loves his granddaughter as much as he did, and anytime he visits he always brings something for her.          I yawned and looked at the time, it was only 1pm. I stood up to stretch my legs and the doorbell rang, I stepped over to the door and opened it seeing that it was Sam leaning against the frame. "Can I help you?" I raised my eyebrow at him, "Is that anyway to talk to your boss?" I laughed.     "You try that bullshit and I'll drop the paperwork and jumble the papers." I spoke walking back to my stuff that was sitting on the dining table.         I could hear him follow me to the table and set down next to me, I started cleaning up the papers and setting them in a neat pile, "How is the progress?"          "Honestly, I'm seeing some embezzling in the firm. I just can pinpoint where it's coming from, it's as if it bounces from person to person." I shook my head.     He sighed, "I was hoping that I wouldn't run into that problem."          "I know, I wish it was better news. But give me sometime and I'll make sure to figure it out for you."  I smiled softly.     "I would appreciate that." He ran his fingers through his hair and I had to look away.         "Not a problem." I smiled standing up and walking over to my crockpot that was filled with beef stew.        "What's that?" He said.     "It's beef stew." I stirred the pot, this was going to be AMAZING. I could already taste it and I was so excited about it. It something that I've been craving my whole pregnancy, I made at least once a week. I just couldn't not have it, especially the carrots.          "Am I allowed to stay for dinner?" Spoke Sam.     "That means I would have to share more then the portion I give Amelia." I blinked at him.         He laughed and grinned "What do I have to do for a..bite."      I looked at him and knowing he was talking about the food, but I couldn't help the slight tingles I felt.         "Your more then welcome to stay for dinner, but it's still pretty early."   "Movies?" He spoke up.         "Scary?" I smiled.     He laughed again and then nodded walking over to the couch and turning on the TV. "Fine, but I don't want to see any jumping."  ===================================================================================     We watched movies for what seemed like hours, Amelia getting up and mostly playing with her toys. Around 4pm we went outside and played for a bit before dinner, I wanted her to be tired for when she went to bed. Normally that wasn't a problem, but she had her days when her energy was more then I could handle. Sam stayed with us, playing with her and helping me prep the table for dinner.         Finally we were able to sit down and eat, He took one bite and I heard the groan leave his mouth as his eyes closed "I haven't had this in so long." He kept eating and I smiled. "Grandma use to make it all the time when we were kids, I remember you were always the first one to grab seconds and even thirds."     He grinned "She always made extras for me to take home. Tell you the truth I haven't had it since...well since you left."         "Wow, really?" I took a bite and mixed some of my corn bread into it.     He nodded wiping his mouth "Yeah, No one even attempted to make it, I did ask the guys at one point but they just brushed it off."         I laughed "That's because my brothers can't cook."      "This is true, I remember one time that Andre tried to make mac n cheese in the microwave and did not know that he needed to add water to it." Sam laughed through the story he was telling.         I choked on my drink laughing "God my brothers are terrible."      He nodded and continued to eat, "The good old days, before everyone had to become adults and this got hectic."         I nodded "I can't to much say that I had the same experience, because...well I was alone once I left."     He nodded, it was as if he had something else to say. But he didn't, he kept quiet and continued to eat for a while.      We continued to eat and talk, Sam did end up having an extra bowl which made me laugh as he just kept repeating "I can't help it." We also got a good laugh at turning to look and find a very asleep Amelia with a carrot hanging out of her mouth. I excused myself in order to go upstairs and get her cleaned up and tucked into bed. Before leaving her I turned on her night light and monitor so that I could check and make sure she was ok.     When I made it back downstairs he was rinsing out the dishes and putting them in the washer. "Oh thank you! You didn't have to." He shrugged "Nonsense, after that delicious meal. I should at least help with the dishes."         I smiled and walked over clearing the rest of the table and wiping it down along with Amelia's. "Well it's very much appreciated."       I was walking towards the sink when I tripped and stumbled, I held out my arms to catch myself and closed my eyes praying that I did not hurt my baby. But the pain of falling never came, as I peaked open one of my eyes and then both to look up into pretty green eyes. I smiled softly "This could have ended really badly." He shook his head before helping me stand up, but he didn't let go of my arms as he stared down at me.      A whisper left my lips as I said "Sam."          But he didn't give me a chance to say anything as his lips touched mine and the passion hit me like a armor truck. I didn't try to deny it or fight it, I wrapped my arms around his neck as best I could and I kissed him back.
