In the oncoming days, if I had any spare moment, it was spent reading– at the King’s side.   We spoke sometimes, argued other times. But still, even if in contention, we sat in the same room and often took our meals together in the study.   At times I needed a break from the dull technicalities of law and would pull something lighter off the shelf. Much of it was more of the same.   When I found my attention fraying too much, I started poking at the assorted artifacts.   I cannot say whether it was confidence or weariness that had me wander freely in the same study I had once seen as a mine of information, but the King gave no open disapproval.   I realized why this was, very quickly.   It was all simply a mass of information, all dull reference materials such as encyclopedias
