“PLEASE STAY TONIGHT. I’ve got the two spare rooms; one downstairs next to the shower room, and one upstairs next to mine in case you’ve forgotten. You’re both welcome of course; you can’t drive back all that way twice in one day.” Maggie smiled at Lyn as she loaded the dishwasher after the last mourner had left.
“I had booked into a local bed and breakfast, but Neil will need to drive me there as I’m not insured to drive his car.”
“Then you must stay, as Neil’s had a few beers. What do you say Neil?”
“If it’s okay with Lyn, then it’s okay with me. She can have the downstairs room; it’s bigger and it’s got a double bed.” He collected up the last of the plates from the dining room and brought them into the kitchen. “What do you want doing now, Mum?”
