Jack was an early riser, a habit from his army days that had stayed with him. It was still dark inside the shed when he ventured out of his caravan and made his way to the bathroom on the far side of the building. The silence was absolute, apart from the soft melody of sounds coming from men snoring in their sleeping bags. As he emerged from the glow of the bathroom lights and re-entered the gloom inside the shed, he felt a vibration in his pocket announcing the arrival of an incoming message. It was 5:04. There was a notification from w******p at the bottom of the screen. The message was from Alf, who was staying with the group at the Tanunda Caravan Park: Police here.
